if i am not mistaken, schools can not bring a lawsuit against the NCAA
so i am guessing the only thing their lawyers can fight is the punishment.

Don't know for sure. I think if any lawsuit against the NCAA were to get filed, and I honestly doubt UNC is dumb enough to take that avenue, they would primarily be arguing that the NCAA is beyond its jurisdiction in this instance. But again, I think UNC would be absolutely foolish to open itself up to discovery, which would certainly happen if a lawsuit were filed.

Speculation on the ncstate board is that UNC's attorneys have had the NOA and have just sent it to UNC. The redaction could have already taken place. UNC will not release the factual information today which is the proof used by the NCAA to bring the charges.

Who knows...If there is a 6th LOIC charge in there and it has the words "academic fraud" or the equivalent that will make UNC's liver quiver.

Wow. Unless I'm mistaken, JS & MW haven't revealed names of the rank and file professors before. This along with the receipt of the ANOA today, or at least UNC's acknowledgement of it, appears to be a sure sign that the beginning of the end is upon us.

how does the NCAA punish just an athletic department? Do they suspend the secretaries for 2 weeks and the A.D. for a month? how would that work?
