Yeah, that women's national title is coming down too. Never let it be forgotten that the biggest individual fraud in the history of organized sport, Marion Jones, played for that unc national championship basketball team. Too fitting. No other institution could have conditioned her for deceit crafts as well. Say what you will of Lance Armstrong. He never went to prison.

Academic counselor, Philosophy lecturer, and sports ethicist Jan Boxill taught many such courses herself, including 160 in one eight-year period (see Cheated, p. 185.) But Boxill knew she was not alone. A longtime instructor with contacts all over campus and an iron will to help athletes, she also regularly leaned on colleagues in other departments to offer their own independent study (or similar) courses whenever select populations of athletes needed them. The assignments in these courses were presumably cooked up in a professor’s office with little or no input from the student (making a mockery of the very concept of the independent study), and in some cases the connection between “instructor” and “project” was so thin as to be non-existent. During one summer session an athlete emailed Boxill to find out the identity of the Geography instructor for whom he or she had written a paper. The unconcerned Boxill responded that “I’m calling to see if you can just send them directly to John Florin,” thus naming a key contributing partner to the UNC eligibility system over a period of decades. A neighbor and friend of basketball team counselor Burgess McSwain, Florin offered sections of Geography 95, “Topics in Geography,” every year, with athletes crowding in each time. They invariably got helpful grades. (One basketball player in desperate straits enrolled in TWO sections of GEOG 95 in a single summer session in the 1990s, making A’s in both sections.)
Wow! That is a real indictment of UNC**** if true. I have little doubt that it is all completely true. Any player getting two A's in same class in two simultaneous sessions should be immediately ineligible. How could that even happen? It sounds like the culture of corruption is pervasive and ingrained at UNC****************.

When I lived in NC years ago the folks back up in the mountains called soft drinks dope. I was excited the first time my father in law asked if I wanted a dope. Being from the city I thought he was going to break out a big j-boy. WRONG!

I just can't see them removing even one title, though it would be fitting.
I cannot wait to see them try and explain away the amended notice of allegations. Lot of idiots over there who never sniffed law school are all of a sudden legal experts and are sure that UNC has a viable case against the NCAA if appropriate sanctions are levied. What a riot.

This jumpstarts a case that has been stalled in a procedural limbo since August.
The person spoke Monday to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity because UNC hasn’t made a formal statement about the second notice’s arrival. The person declined to comment on changes contained in this document compared to the notice sent last May.
That first document hit the school with five potential top-level violations, including lack of institutional control. UNC had 90 days to respond, but that process paused in August when the school reported additional information to the NCAA for review.
This jumpstarts a case that has been stalled in a procedural limbo since August.

if i am not mistaken, schools can not bring a lawsuit against the NCAA
so i am guessing the only thing their lawyers can fight is the punishment.

After the UNC lawyers complete their redacting, there won't be a complete sentence left in that new NOA.
