I’ll definitely take the win given where we were a couple weeks ago and going across the country.

Did not like the decision to go to the locker room with the ball on our 28, 2nd and 11, 0:45 seconds and all 3 TOs left. This team is not good enough to just give possessions away like that. Another 3 pts there could have turned out to be huge.

Always nice to be in attendance for a win even if it was a lot more stressful than it should have been. Would have been a lot better if I didn't have to stand the entire game but that upper deck did not agree with my acrophobia. I went up there and lasted less than 5 minutes before I had to come back down and find somewhere else. I had a death grip on the handrail as I went down those steps.

You can try to sugarcoat it a thousand ways from Sunday, but there's not enough whip cream to put on that second half performance to change that pile of crap 2nd Half performance into a sundae. Worst 2nd Half performance by a PSU team in a win that I have ever seen - and I've been watching PSU football for nearly 50 years.

This post you claim to have been watching Penn State games for 50 years while your last post you claimed to have been watching for 60 years? Are your mental faculties impaired or you're just too filled with Fraudlin goo?

Late in the game I was thinking about the non-safety safety.

If we were up 5 and not 3 we probably go for the FG late and make it an 8 pt lead which would've guaranteed at least OT.

Ill say this game. I was pissed in the second half. But at the end of the day, they traveled cross country, and beat a 5-3 team. Our best players from last year are all over the place. Gotta live with it.

Oh ya, Jim Knowles wasnt an issue.
that's really an interesting statement, and one that seems to be accurate...at Penn state, we needed 2 years for the players to learn Knowles intricate scheme....Tennessee doesn't seem to have that problem...so either they have smarter players than we did, Knowles dumbed down his schemes, or somebody wasn't being very forthright

The guy was well respected everywhere, gets to Penn State, and in a year, hes an overrated idiot. Now at Tennessee they are raving about him again.

He broke 2 long runs today...anything 20 or over is a long run. You know Wallace (nor Singleton last year) have the vision to even be in a spot to get what he got.
The reality is you refuse to give him credit. It's now obvious to anyone willing to be honest that he wasn't the issue. The line was.
Whatever you say Mr. Hansen.

Not sure why everyone hates on Hansen, well I do, but it's silly, as bad as those that used to call for Allen's head when they wanted more Singleton. Fans going to fan..
Yupp...doesn't actually have anything to do with Hansen the football player

His avg per rush is almost 5 yards. He's not an NFL back but we don't have anyone better on the roster. This place is just full of unhappy old farts yelling at clouds.

Two things from this game

1-do we all agree now than Hansen was never the problem but the lack of blocking was? Also, we know he can break a run now, yes?
2-it certainly feels like several people here are very upset we're unlikely to be 6-6 or worse this year. There's a large portion of the fan base that wants Kraft to be fired more than they want MC to succeed.

I honestly thought both things were a problem this season....Hansen's inability to explode through the limited space line provided and his inability to ever make anyone miss where not helpful to a line struggling as much as they were. Hansen was good yesterday and is complemented well by Wallace. I think we could have actually run those guys more in the second half. Thought we went away from wallace.

I thought they should have ran more in the second half. Cam struggled outside the long run (6 carries for 10 yards) while Hansen was very consistent. I love them as a duo but Hansen should be getting more playing time simply because of his ability to pass protect.
Hansen makes people miss all the time in the backfield--it's why he's almost never stopped for a loss. None of our backs were good early this year because of the line--there simply wasn't anywhere to go.

The last drive of the first half and the entire second half until they went for it on fourth down was anbout exactly how Joe would’ve played that game.

Make sure you don’t turn it over, run some clock and let your defense win the game. The defense didn’t do their job and the offense did when they had to.
One minor oversight v

Joe had the defensive horses to pull it off

I think the biggest factor is you need to have certain types of players on m defense for his scheme to be at its most effective. And Penn state didn’t really have that. The players on our d last year weren’t really suited for his scheme

It’s pretty incredible that the “worst half of football in PSU history” included a 7 minute, 40 second drive to ice the game.

The game reminded me a lot of the basketball game the other night. Huge lead early, things got a little dicey late, but made the plays needed down the stretch to put it away.
Great, now our football team is being compared to our basketball team.

Well we don’t have to wonder about whether you have Franklin Derangement Syndrome.

Nice drive
In year 1, with a makeshift recruiting class and having 2/3 of your roster turned over, 8-4 would be huuuge! The casual fan might not realize it but Campbell is doing a heck of a job since getting to PSU.
you cant say that, way too positive. tic

Hansen played well yesterday but he never will make anyone forget about 50 RBs over the years starting with Lenny Moore and ending most recently with Saquon

Granted the second half wasn’t nearly as satisfying as the first half, but the last drive sealed the game and they came away with the win. How many times in the recent past were they unable to do that. Complaining about not scoring in the second half is also disingenuous. Sure we would like to see them score on every drive, but this is reality we are dealing with and no team does that. I’m sure they could have scored on the last drive with either a TD or FG, but why risk a fumble when you have the game won? So they only won by three and had to hold on to do it. Prior to the game, and for some of us even after the game, a 3 point win is very acceptable. Style points don’t count this year. The only thing that matters is the W. They got that. Be happy. Much better than an L.

Thinking back on JVP, he had the most wins. But probably had the most "ugly wins" too. The goal is to get the W.
