Hard to be satisfied with that win. An incomprehensible pants-pissing cowardly 2nd half offensive game plan.

Ever since the turn of the century, this program’s approach to football has been, “Can we just run the clock out for 30+ minutes?”
Yeah we should have gone for it snd turned the ball over and lost - thank god you are a poster and not a PSU coach.

The UDub players are either unable to understand that 3 knees eats up 2 minutes and the game is over, or they were trying to goad PSU into doing the only thing that gave them a chance to win the game and that is turn it over trying to score. I am guessing they are stupid, but you don't have to be.
Excellent. Two style points for you.

This thread was great entertainment today. My summary:
Pre-game: we suck, probably will lose, but let's keep it close.
First Wash drive: See I told you all we suck. That shows it.
First PSU drive: Wow, that looked nice. We should do that more often.
1st half continues: This is great. This team is the best it looked all year.
Halftime: Break out the champagne b!tches... we got this thing won!
1st PSU drive of 2nd half: That didn't look good, but we are up big. Defense can hold them
1st Wash drive of 2nd half: At least it was only a FG. Still up 19.
2nd half continues: We don't look so good... We look really bad... this is the sh!tty team we are used to... Coach still sucks... we are going to lose.
Last PSU drive: If we can get some 1st downs, we can have a chance. But we won't because we suck.
Final score: we did it! That was fun, maybe we don’t suck. This coach might be okay.

PSU only won because Washington gave us a first down by having 12 men on the field. They were clearly playing for 3 which would have only given us a 6 pt lead and Washington would have had 2 minutes with 1 TO.

They win the game with a TD but instead played for a 6 pt lead hoping our D would hold. Were the coaches watching how our defense was getting shredded in the second half?

I understand the way the game ended, and PSU won, which makes me happy. However...it wasn't exactly much of a show of strength, or execution, or much of anything really.

The UDub defensive players were laughing in PSU player's faces for not trying to score a TD. We all saw it.
After we make the first down, game over. No need to try to score.

In year 1, with a makeshift recruiting class and having 2/3 of your roster turned over, 8-4 would be huuuge! The casual fan might not realize it but Campbell is doing a heck of a job since getting to PSU.

A fitting ugly ending to one of the ugliest 2nd Halves in a win by a PSU team that I've ever seen (and I've been watching PSU Football for almost 60 years - thank God we we're playing an equally awful b1g team or there's no way we win). On another bright note, duhO$U is getting used like a rented mule. Relative to the amounts of money spent on their roster, duhO$U's collapse in important games the last couple years is way worse than PSU's last year. duhO$U is now 6-5 in their last 11 games -- 4-5 against P4 teams over that span.
Weren't we guaranteed to lose last week and this week according to your adept analytic projections?

How did the genius coaching Va Tech fare again?

So… you’re condensing the entire incompetent second half where they scored 0 points down to just the final play?

Weird. Why do you think that’s a response to what I said?

Woosing out started at 1 minute left in first half.

3 timeouts over a minute to play in first half and we have no killer instinct or nail in the coffin push. Second half we come out and go into turtle mode. WTF. We are lucky we came out with a win. Hope this changes in the future.

Campbell inherited a depleted roster that was much weaker than after the sanctions.

But...

Campbvell brought 24 players from Iowa State. Most aren't up to BiG standards but 9 of them were rated as 4* transfers. Combines with PSU's returning talent most of us though that would be good enough for 9-3.

The problem is....

Sowell is a stud. He's played like a high 4* player. Becht is up and down. I think he's played like a 3.5 * player. The other 7 4* transfers have all been a dissapointment.

We blew a 17 point 2nd half lead vs Wisky and almost blew a 22 point second half lead today. I'm totally dumbfounded by two play calls. One was going for it on 4th and 7. That gave Washington great field position and lots of momentum. The other was playing for the FG late in the game. IMO we only won because Washington had 12 men on the field. I like Campbell and I'm not giving up on him but I don't see how that's good coaching.

Yep. Mouser is the ultimate scared mouse, but he isn't changing his play calling nor is Campbell firing him.

You're watching a weak version of Mt Union football.

The last drive of the first half and the entire second half until they went for it on fourth down was anbout exactly how Joe would’ve played that game.

Make sure you don’t turn it over, run some clock and let your defense win the game. The defense didn’t do their job and the offense did when they had to.

LMAO, Chesney is 9-0 facing identical circumstances - could have been us rather than UCLA, because Chesney badly wanted to be at PSU, but Krafty the Clown would have none of it. Your post is such tripe it's ridiculous

CMC gets credit for several things.

1. Creating a team from 3 parts that never played together before.
2. Keeping the team together after 4 losses.
3. Having the team ready to play today, to the point that they put up 28 1st Half points on a solid UW team at Washington.

What's up with Marcus Neal? He came over as a 4* safety who was 3rd team all B12 but now he's like a nickel back who hasn't done much.

And what was Joseph doing in there at CB as the defense was collapsing? He completely whiffed on a tackle that led to a big gain and he was totally lost in coverage on the subsequent TD. He's only a freshman but he's struggled a lot this year including when he got pushed down and gave up the game winning TD to Wisconsin. I know kids can't play every down but we have Collins & Dixson at CB. IMO that's who should be in there when the defense was reeling.

After reading the posts here I never realized you get more points for second half scores ;).....the final score is what matters and we won! I agree that was a pathetic second half effort on many fronts for PSU (play calling, D, and O equally). But at the end of the day we won a tough road game. And that last drive to seal the victory was very good...running clock as opposed to scoring (in contrast to what so many geniuses here said we should do). Some posters here really have an agenda with their constant negative posts because their nose is bent out of joint because Franklin was fired and Campbell hired. Get over it and get behind the team. CMC has many things to cleanup with this team but I'll take the W and I like our chances to run the table and finish strong.

They never played together before but they had spring and fall practice and this was game 9. I think they should know how to play together by now.

I wouldn't call 4-5 Washington a "solid" team. They're not horrible but they aren't very good. Their only BiG wins were over hapless Purdue (who lost to hapless Maryland today) and 2-4 Nebraska (who has now lost 4 straight).

Day is 4-5 in his last 9 games against P4 teams with a roster being paid double what Kraft gave Franklin to spend on recruits and Free Agent Transfers (which severely hurt our 2023, 2024 and 2025 recruiting losing all kinds of commits - our highest rated commits..... and our rosters as well). Day clearly needs to be fired..... the only person who should have been fired in this equation is the horses azz, empty-suit, arrogant moron known as Krafty The Clown. Instead of firing the problem, our genius empty-suit bureaucrats gave the idiot a massive raise, and an 8 year ironclad guaranteed contract worth $20 million in late 2024. Go figure!

You can try to sugarcoat it a thousand ways from Sunday, but there's not enough whip cream to put on that second half performance to change that pile of crap 2nd Half performance into a sundae. Worst 2nd Half performance by a PSU team in a win that I have ever seen - and I've been watching PSU football for nearly 50 years.
I get what you’re saying, but it’s a good thing both halves count.
