Spencer stuck in a trap arm gut and somehow gets the pin to move into the finals.
I think Spencer was expecting a stand up, but when they didn't get it he baited him into that last weaker turn to reverse into the pin. That's what it looked like on replay.
RBY knocks off North Korea to face Spencer for the title.
I think this ugly win is good for Spencer. Black eye, scratched up battling. Reminds me of the Nato pin at NCAAs
And well before that, I think every rational person on earth was waiting for the officials to hit AZE for a caution + 1 for hands to the face.
That was impossibly blatant - with the worst offense happening (and somehow getting white paddled) right before AZE took and score his first real attack of the match.
I had to hold back screaming this morning when he caught that dude on his back. Lock down and boom!!!!!
Damn that was REALLY spooky... from down 10-3 to a pin!! We'll take it. Hope he manhandleds RBY and gets an early tech. You know RBYs strategy is going to be to run and try to steal it late.
Lee was in deep end of pool, with arm trapped in the middle of the mat. That match will be infamous for him if he wins it.
I fell asleep with a beer in my hand and woke up to 10-3 and read pin. I yelled yes. My gf woke up!
Big wins for Blaze and Wyatt in the team race. And Uguev gets beat. And Zare should win here against the Russian. We are at 170 points now can get to 180 with 2 more wins.

Sorry to be a downer, but could Tom or Terry really not be bothered to be there to support Lee? Too busy running Caliendo out of town and fighting desperately to give Williams his 9th second chance, I guess?
I know this should be a happy day, and I'm actually not anti-Brands like some others are, but it's really hard to ignore the feeling that the coaching staff doesn't actually care as much about world and Olympic medals as they claim they do.
PSU has Carl, Cody, Varner, Nick Lee, and at least two other support staff members I've seen in match and interview videos. You're telling me that doesn't make a difference to the program as a whole downstream?
I know this should be a happy day, and I'm actually not anti-Brands like some others are, but it's really hard to ignore the feeling that the coaching staff doesn't actually care as much about world and Olympic medals as they claim they do.

Just think if PSU would've gotten Bassett. This HS kid who's already a Senior World Gold medalist in FS, could turn into a very good collegiate wrestler under Cael's magic fairy dust.
Maybe Spencer doesn't want them there? I have zero insight into the TnT/Lee relationship and haven't seen or heard anything that mentioned it was strained.
If you have zero insight, why say something SUPER negative like that? Lee is very close to TnT or he would be wrestling elsewhere right now
I just think it's weird that the head coach isn't at the most important tournament of the year to at least be present when the top athlete in the program fulfills a lifelong goal. Especially when head coach has given many, many interviews, including at fundraiser events, how critical gold medals are to the program
I wasn't being negative at all. I think some wrestlers get hyper focused and in order to stay that way they only interact with certain coaches or people. Sorry if it came across that way.
