Whoa. Stop with the Chris Ash slander.

He was a very successful HC who just needed more time.
Right? See below.......

I've asked it before: if you are so historically poor at evaluating football what makes you think your evaluation of Schiano (the best there ever was, best there is and best there ever will be) is accurate?

Before Ash first season:

Towards the end of Year 2:

Going into Year 4 (he was fired 4 weeks into the season and didn't make it out of September):

This was hilarious. He compared Chris Ash to Parcells and Lombardi. 🤣

This is where you’re clueless. Chris Ash came here and faceplanted right out of the gate, and he was a reasonably intelligent coach. We couldn’t even beat Buffalo and Kansas, forget about Wisconsin and Iowa.

Not every coach has the skillset to succeed here. Schiano has been able to recruit reasonably well, despite the constraints.
Schiano can’t even beat UMass or BCU. Hes Chris Ash wi the 3x the salary

A lot of teams have done much better than RU, with much less NIL.
But they don’t play in the big ten. Tough to compete when most teams are outspending you by a lot. We don’t have to have the most. That’s reserved for teams that actually care about football success, like Miami and Ohio State. But we should strive to be on par with Wisconsin and Penn State.

Since you're new, he's got tons of threads like those. One of my favorites was when he claimed Rutgers was an impact TE away from winning a national championship, then there was one preseason thread where he thought calling the OL aircraft carriers was a good thing not understanding they aren't very mobile and neither was our OL that year.

We come for the comedy :poop: show Mr. "Slice of Heaven" and "Cocksmith". These were instant Hall of Fame comments because it made clear you don't get laid often and with the latter used a word that you clearly had no understanding of.
You’re such a clown. The only reason you’re here 24/7 is you’re not getting laid. Your only utility is kissing Richie’s ***. Don’t forget to buy new knee pads.

I still imagine Al typing these up in the mental institution. He blames everything but the one thing that matters. Coaching.
Can’t blame coaching when players are flat out getting beat because the fanbase isn’t motivated to provide the support to be successful. #41 is a huge liability and is only playing because other kids are either banged up or not ready. The DE’s can neither seal the edge or rush the passer. The safeties are acclimating and making mistakes along the way. Porter is the only Big Ten caliber DT. Our best corner hasn’t played since the beginning of the season. On offense, our quarterback is having trouble hitting the broadside of the barn. So this is a 💩show which will be fixed next year.

Sure but the problem is that our winning percentage this season is better in the big ten than it is in the MAC and ACC combined.

Sorry but I'm just not trusting your football evaluation skills. Especially on Ash. You comparing me to Ash actually seems to be a compliment.
Thank you.

I'll take this guy's evaluation of Ash going into Year 4:

Given the expected improvement we should see, there’s not a snowballs chance in hell he’ll be gone in 6 months.
(NOTE - Ash was fired 4 months after this post)

Ash is competent with most areas of his job.....
Things are looking up. If we don’t have a winning record this year, we should have one next year.

A good quarterback would have beaten UMass and BC and USC.

The big ten games were games we came up short. Minnesota and Iowa have invested a whole lot more in their football programs than we have in ours. Iowa has support we can only dream of.
But those games weren't lost because those teams had more resources. They were lost because, in the case of UMass and BC, the team wasn't prepared. YOU said that players were in the wrong positions and weren't acclimated. We don't have a good QB? YOU said that Surace was so good that the B1G wouldn't know what hit them. Yet after several years in the program with the same OC, he's looked completely lost.

RU was convincingly winning the games against Iowa and Minnesota. They didn't lose those games because of their investments, they lost because the coaches shat the bed and failed to adjust.

Despite all this roster inadequacy, YOU said that RU was going to run the table, which included beating Indiana. So this roster is a sh#tshow, yet had a chance to win the rest of their games. Your level of cognitive dissonance is amazing.

I said Rutgers had an opportunity to run the table. If Lonergan doesn’t get injured, we had that opportunity. Now we’ll just have to wait and see.
We knew going into the season, the defensive roster was a shtshow. Yet the offense gave us a chance to, just as we won the Maryland game.

How many times has Rutgers landed its first choice recruits in the last six years? It almost never happens. And then you see the same recruit succeed elsewhere. The problem isn’t the evaluation, it’s that we don’t offer enough to land the first priorities on our board. What exactly is our value proposition ?
  • Crappy Campus
  • Crappy Facilities
  • Crappy NIL
  • Crappy Stadium Environment

Our only competitive advantage is our location. Academically, every school in the Big Ten is a good school, with a possible exception.

Yet most of you bozos expect the best recruits to sign up for this 💩. It’s complete lunacy. The best recruits are going elsewhere because they’re getting bigger bags, better facilities, better stadium environment, and overall a better experience.

  • The best recruits we can get, are coming because Schiano sold them.

  • we have to be honest as to where we stand, and we’re low man on the totem pole, because we don’t offer enough. We have to overpay to get good recruits in here.

This is why we didn’t have enough NIL, to land the caliber of recruit, in the portal, to turn this situation around. Look at Wisconsin, who spent $9M more than we did. Look at their caliber of transfer, then look at ours. Even in spite of our financial challenges, we did land some talent. Clay Thevinin and Rondo Porter can ball. The issue is with everyone else. You take the big risks that we did, and you’re not going to land many hits. To get more hits, we have to pay up for better risks. We need more Tier 1 transfers in our transfer class, like what Northwestern and Wisconsin have. Can only do that with more NIL.

Schiano ended his fundraising activities once Kelli came on board, and that was likely a mistake. It took time for Kelli to get the proper resources in place, so that our fundraising could operate with maximum efficiency. The results last year weren’t great, which put us at a big disadvantage in the portal. Despite our constraints, we still landed Rondo Porter and Clay Thevinin. Everyone else isn’t having the impact we hoped for. Next year, with more money, we’ll get better results. The best coach for the job, is the current one.
Positive Karma can only help!

Why would you think that RU had a chance to run the table with a bad defense, inadequate QB play, and O-linemen playing out of position? (According to you).

What also is really horrible is Schiano's inability to beat a Big Ten Team that finishes the season with a winning record. In 6.5 years, he's accomplished that Once against the 2024 Minnesota Gophers team. Let it sink in. 6.5 years of returning to Rutgers and he has not won a game against a Big Ten team of any stature and/or winning record. Not Wisconsin, Nebraska, Ohio State, Michigan, Penn State, Iowa. When he beats a Big Ten team that is having a miserable year (Maryland, last year's Purdue team) he celebrates as if Rutgers won the Super Bowl and it's an actual accomplishment.

Please somebody end this already. Burn this Program to the ground and put it out of its misery.
Expectations have been managed down so far it is unbelievable. If he were ever to beat one of the real programs on the rest of the schedule he would probably insist on a contract extension.

He wanted Anthony Davis, Tom Savage, and Savon and got them. Other than that, it’s not excuses, it’s explanations. It is very difficult to recruit good kids to Rutgers. So we’ve had to take Tier 2 kids and develop them. Schiano is the only one who has been able to do so consistently. If there was proper NIL, the roster would have been filled with proper talent.

Rutgers simply doesn’t have as much to offer as a Michigan, Ohio State, or Penn State.
Agree. We don’t offer what those 3 offer. How about the other 50 teams that are consistently better than us.
