That 2008 team should've gone BCS or, at very worst, a NY6 game (instead of blaming coaching Al likes to blame Mike Teel for "not being ready to play" until the Pitt game....).
The 08 team- we had 2 WR and a DB that heard all the prss- they were so into themselves in that off season- and they did not give it their all and GS allowed it. We also had GS dictate how he wanted the OL aligned. Against his OL coache's advice- he saw 2 of the best OL in the BE and decided, Let's line them up together on the left and run everything behind them" - the Pitt game is where they finally split LT and LG into bookends. and The 3 players I am referring to- realized their potential draft status was falling through the roof and started to put themselves 110%

Every remaining game is the most important one, and Northwestern is a particularly formidable opponent. My friend is a near billionaire, having started an ad serving company when the internet was just in its infancy. This is the caliber of graduate Northwestern produces. Mike Greenberg of ESPN is another prominent graduate. The Sullivan Family has donated over a billion dollars to finance a new stadium and an exceptional Fieldhouse. Academically, they are one notch below Harvard.

These days, they have a pretty good football team, aided in part by the best facilities money can buy, and significant NIL support. I watched them absolutely destroy Penn State on the ground, so the thought of their running game going up against our defense is scary. Aiden Chiles is a dual threat, with strong running skills, a strong arm, and excellent decision making. On the year, he’s thrown for 1,398 yards and 9 touchdowns with no interceptions, which is pretty phenomenal. He sports an impressive 70.5% completion %, which is phenomenal, and is one of the better passers in college football. He is the biggest reason Northwestern sports a 5-1 record, destroying nearly everyone they played, though losing to Indiana, and beating MSU in a close game. He is complemented by a very strong running game. They destroyed Penn State on the ground with Caleb Komolafe rushing for 188 yards and Joseph Himan adding 162 yards rushing. Griffin Wilde is their best receiver and he has 482 receiving yards on 30 catches.

Their defense is allowing a stingy 17 points per game, and is led by #33 Braydon Brus, who has 52 tackles and 3 sacks on the season.

As formidable as Northwestern is, Rutgers has a fighting chance. Korey Duff Jr. is having a phenomenal All American caliber season. Dyzier Carter broke out against Maryland with an 88 receiving yard effort. If Antwan Raymond is banged up, Clay Thevinin will step up and give the running game a boost. Our prospects mostly depend on Dylan Lonergans right shoulder. He has a great game, then we’ll have a great chance. If he struggles we will struggle.

Defense won’t stop anyone so we’ll have to score.

It’s called coachspeak for a reason, though Northwestern has a good team.

Did you watch the game Saturday? We were multiple and executed as well. The quarterback had a great game last Saturday and he has a chance to replicate his performance against Nortwestern. 291 passing yards with 3 TDs to go along with an interception. I’m starting to wonder whether our QB is starting a Mike Teel 2008 performance stretch. This is exactly what we need.
Al this is what is meant by multiple. Kelly has used at my last count 4 systems. Not using the 2 packages (11 and 10) you claimed we used to be multiple. Haahahahah

Are we inflecting or Deflecting? RUNNING THE TABLE or has the table run over us?

It's amazing what happens when you hire a head coach, David Braun, that came from a program that was very successful at what they do like North Dakota St DC, 2019-22 2 FCS titles in 4yrs(Entz HC 2019-23 60-11), unlike a Miami team of the late 90s that should've won a couple National Championship with the talent at the U brought in under Butch Davis but never had the coaching, HC, OC, DC, to win one.

Guess we have to wait for loss #7 in two weeks to end the misery. Chip Kelly will always own a Schiano D, nothing changed in 20+ yrs.

Much of this complete nonsense. If you can’t accept the fact that NIL drives recruits decisions, then there’s nothing else for us to discuss because this is fundamental. Cignetti paid up for recruits who were exceptionally productive at their prior schools in ‘24. He negotiated the NIL pool when he first took the job and he is on record stating that Indiana provided much more than he asked for. This bought QB Kurtis Rourke who was a MAC MVP. This year, he paid $4M for Josh Hoover. Last year, he spent $2.6M on Mendoza.

Miami’s experience blows away your narrative. They are successful because they have the biggest bag, not because Mario Cristobal is some genius with X’s and O’s. Of course, having arguably the nicest campus and terrific facilities helps too.

The bottomline is, you need money to win in this conference because everyone else has money. MSU just got a $400M NIL donation. Maryland is going to increase their NIL commitment. These were two programs we could reliably beat in recent years. If we don’t increase our commitment, they are going to blow right by us.
You’ll always be a clown and a loser.

their 25th ranked pass efficiency defense isn’t going to help them cover Korey Duff or Dyzier Carter. Bombs Away! 💣

It’s always something in this program. Rutgers in 2008 had the most talent in the Big East. Period.

Al BTW predicted a national championship before that season but now makes all sorts of excuses for what happened.

And the best part is when in 2010 when the OL fell apart, the sheep put all the blame on Flood lol.

Who is going to cover KJ Duff? Who is going to cover Dyzier Carter? Who is going to cover Clay Thevinin out of the backfield? Maryland spent all their attention on Duff, that Carter quietly gained 88 receiving yards on them, and Thevinin got 109 rushing yards and 24 yards receiving with a TD. We get proper blocking, and we could score 50. We have the horses. Now Lonergan just has to continue to get better, and avoid turnovers.
Maybe your question should have been who is gonna stop Chiles, Komolafe and Wilde.

And Santos, the NH QB, was precisely the type of mobile QBs that gives Schiano's defenses problems.
Man
Harasmyiak knew what plays were coming based on his experience here, so he coached his defense accordingly. With the Left Tackle unable to block anyone, the quarterback was under pressure all night. Hard for any quarterback to succeed under the Circumstances.
So what you are saying is GS was outcoached by his former DC. Also why didn't GS know what defense they were gonna run based on their coach experience here?
