If John Smith didn't have a vote, then neither will Brands.AD will NOT fire Brands, they will retire and id imagine they have a hand in selecting the next coach as well.

Point being that Chad had all the cards and John had no cards. Chad wanted DT from a year earlier. Money was tied to DT's hire. Same would/will happen at Iowa. Money talks, and some rich donor will get his guy.I think it would've been Pendleton over Coleman without Chad getting involved like he did and going after DT.
You have a narrow view of what actually Chad paid for. NIL isn't one of them. He paid for a new coaching staff, the RTC, and scholastic programs in OK. DT shared his vision to a T, so the marriage was a given. In order for JB to have the success DT did right away, it would require the Donors to open their checkbooks to bring in the guys okie st did. I don't see that happening, the first couple years of DT's coaching and you have any idea what has cost in NIL. Any solid coach, can coach blue chippers and have success, especially how far developed the kids are now a days with all the international and such. Can't miss on portal guys either, ones you bring in have to hit. That has been one of Iowa's struggles, portal guys not living up to their hype
What he said was factually accurate even if you misunderstood his meaning. The same context that matters to him seems to not matter to you. I am reminded of the recurring SNL bit Lowered Expectations. If so, that means WAY less to me than what I originally took it as. We would then be talking about losses to a team setting the scoring record 2 seasons in a row. It’s not like they were getting blown out by a pretty good team or even a great team. We are talking about possibly the 2 best teams of ALL TIME.
That says way more about how good PSU is than Iowa being in any way bad. Especially when you use “egregiously unacceptable”….
Also, since you are absolutely the stat guy, were any teams more competitive with PSU? I am not just saying the actual team score, but the matches themselves. Maybe a team matched up better at 1 or 2 weights and snuck in an extra win, but how many were even as competitive with PSU at all 10 weights? Did they even do it against the PSU lineup they put out against Iowa or when they sat a couple guys?
In this case context matters a lot….
Agree it's gonna take a donor and that's what I said from the beginning. Summer of 2029 is a long ways away maybe a new donor will get involved by thenPoint being that Chad had all the cards and John had no cards. Chad wanted DT from a year earlier. why did I think Brands contract ended in 2028?Agree it's gonna take a donor and that's what I said from the beginning. Summer of 2029 is a long ways away maybe a new donor will get involved by then
Not sure but he signed a 7 year deal in 2022.why did I think Brands contract ended in 2028?
Who said anything about Chad or what he did or didn't pay for?? Facts are it took MILLIONS to put together DT and his Coaching Staff. For them to build up their club team. And for them to assemble a very tough team. Doesn't matter who paid for it? It got done; that's the important thing and kudos to okie st for making it all happen. IF Iowa wants to catch up, they will need to do the same. spend millions and get the club to where it should be, followed by the rest. You have a narrow view of what actually Chad paid for. Since john had no vote, that means Brands wont??? uhh sure, because that makes sense. Once again completely different schools. PSU guy on iowa boardIf John Smith didn't have a vote, then neither will Brands.
Actually you said they're spending millions in NIL when in reality you have no idea what they're spending in NIL or what role that is playing in their success both on the mat and in recruiting. It's a easy knee jerk reaction to just assume kids are choosing PSU/OkSt over Iowa b/c of money but we hear time and again that isn't often the case.Who said anything about Chad or what he did or didn't pay for?? So it's your belief all the kids PSU/Okst and others are beating Iowa for on the recruiting trail is only b/c of money? They're ALL getting more elsewhere? Keep fooling yourself if it helps you sleep at night. We know Bo is taking less at VT. The Raneys talked specifically about bonding with future OkSt teammates at a tourney before committing there. At the end of the day these elite kids are ALL getting paid very well. Believing they're only choosing places other than Iowa b/c they're getting paid more is head in the sand level ridiculous. From who exactly?
“So and so actually took less money to go somewhere besides Iowa!”

You seriously think Brands will have a vote in 2029?Since john had no vote, that means Brands wont??? uhh sure, because that makes sense. Once again completely different schools. PSU guy on iowa board![]()
The Raney's said?? What are they going to say, yes we verballed to Iowa but OSU swooped in with a bigger offer. What about Vega?? I heard from a reliable source that he got a certain amount (I won't say how much) just to visit OSU (no strings attached)....OSU was calling him non stop after he won Super 32.So it's your belief all the kids PSU/Okst and others are beating Iowa for on the recruiting trail is only b/c of money? Yep. It’s a three-legged stool of great recruiting, great coaching, and great funding. Take away any one of those and it’s nearly impossible to beat a program that has all threeThe fact of the matter is until Iowa quits being second fiddle to PSU and Okie St. in recruiting, they aren't going to beat them. Good coaching with pick of the litter recruits at every weight is unbeatable unless you join them. Good recruiting isn't going to beat great recruiting with all other things equal. Iowa needs to get title contenders at 10 weights to beat PSU. Pretty easy for us armchair quarterbacks to see, not so easy to do
He basically knows how to scan social media for info than repost as his or in a vague way acting like an insider but saying nothing. Just like his stories from the room.Poor VHS is never going to hear the end WRT wrestling at Iowa. Some of you guys need to let that go. He brings exceptional insight and discussions to this board regardless of that one misstep.

Raneys didn't even have Okie st in their final decision??? It was Iowa or Illinois????????? lol... Then all sudden week before committing after already virtually giving their verbal to Iowa, they jump ship to a school they weren't even considering... Right, it wasn't for the moneySo it's your belief all the kids PSU/Okst and others are beating Iowa for on the recruiting trail is only b/c of money? They're ALL getting more elsewhere? About as serious as a PSU troll on an Iowa boardYou seriously think Brands will have a vote in 2029?
Yes, most definitelyYou seriously think Brands will have a vote in 2029?
