Going back to when? Last year? He’s easily in the high 30’s, lower 40’s on 5 stars, going back to when he was first hired.

BTW, Pope has never landed a player who was a 5 star when they arrived in Lexington… Not Jasper Johnson, not Moreno, and not Ryan Hampton… So Pope is technically 0-40 something signing a 5 star player!

A stat that will last longer than UK’s home winning streak record, and a stat that will make Mark Pope go down as the worst recruiter at a top 10 historical program, in the history of college sports!

Rivals has 14 five stars in each of the last 2 recruiting classes. So if pope recruiting every 5 star in the '25 and '26 recruiting classes and missed he would still only be 0 for 28, but don't let facts get in the way....I guess you could include the '24 class but most of those 5 stars were committed before pope was hired

If I were Pope, I’d lock up a big this fall signing period then let the chips fall where they may. He’s sinking or swimming with the dudes on the roster today. Most of which can and probably should return if things go well.

He clearly cannot get top HS players to come here and has also struggled to consistently land the big fish in the portal. Milan is the only one. These last 5-6 kids have a ton of leverage and are playing the market. Suppply & Demand.

Henry is Cal's. He probably told him to go see what he could get and circle back, Cal has an offer out and donor's ready if he needs to sweeten.

As it's playing out, not sure Cal is getting as big a class as he thought. He might only get two top kids. He's got to get one of Black or Daughtry, priority and then I'd think second slot reserved for Henry. He's probably just seeing how the $$ shakes out.

From what I've heard, Williams and Rippey are both pissed they're not starting. It sounds like Scheyer blew some BS with this class, so not sure how repeatable this is. I think he's getting desperate and now lying to get as many insurance policies on the roster as he can.

I've wondered if Pope gets way too in the weeds with analytic talk when dealing with recruits. They just want to know how will you use them, how will you prepare them for the next level, and how much will you pay. I do think he needs to go away from the Musselman approach of getting involved with just about every recruit, that seems like easy ammo for opposing schools to use against him.

I just think he's dorky as **** and can't relate to these kids. I say that with love for the man. I'm going into this season hoping for the best and open (my fervent hope) to being proven wrong. But I don't believe that I am and that makes me sad for what we're probably facing after another good, but not UK good season.

Some services have more. ESPN had 23 last season and some have over 30 some years. Rivals doesn’t have a set number either for every year although the last couple years have only had 14. In 2022 they had 20 five stars and have had more than that. I get your point but recruiting definitely needs to improve. Hard to figure out with all the money we have. Is what it is. lol.
