If we can get zoom Mason Morton N’Diaye McBride Hawthorne and Kam back that’s a really good core to build onto.
His free throw defense was eliteBCG is a far better coach than Pope. And had accomplished far more before being hired here. He was a bad hire. But he was better than what we have now.
I stated above john wall would only get a couple hundred thousand. That was a guess but looks to be on point. I know they got paid. That was long time ago when it wasn’t legal per se. Lot harder to funnel millions than couple hundred grand. Fact is they still was getting paid and mainly only basketball schools were doing it. So should’ve been easier to get good players.
Shiiiiiiiiite - did not know Silver is a Duke grad, or that nugget about Grant Hill. This is interesting intel. F Puke.Yea team USA is run by Grant hill and the nba by a Duke grad. Also their GM is a former Nike person. It’s all set up for them.
Honestly man --- I just think that's what college sports have mostly become. And I don't see it changing soon. I do agree NBA pipeline still matters, but beyond that --- playing time and money matter most of all.On a very simplistic level that sounds great, but it also builds more and more social equity of being the price setting program. That is a really crummy image to have.
Personally think his better bet is going and getting kids 20-40, still high value, multi year, bench contributors year one. Too much gamesmanship with agents at the top, where Pope doesn't have enough clout yet. He needs to build into that by winning and getting some guys to the NBA.
If you think pope is strange then what you think about a raging alcoholic as your coach?I stated above john wall would only get a couple hundred thousand. That was a guess but looks to be on point. I know they got paid.
Was still a different time and hard to compare.
So say You are an elite recruiter. Better than John calapari. Would you want to coach UK back then when you could ILLEGALLY pay a couple players....because if you think every player got paid you're crazy. Only the top stars....or would you rather have a $22 million war chest thrown in your lap and the freedom to go recruit with that 22 million however you wanted?
Im going with today's time because if you coach at Uk and even have the smallest ounce of swag you are going to get some studs. Not Pope. BILLY G WOULD BE RECRUITING BETTER THAN MARK POPE WITH 22 MILLION..
Hell you can be a terrible basketball coach and have a little bit of swag and get players with our resources. Pope is just EXTREMELY ODD. Millions of fans are looking at it. Players see what we see.
Which was total bullshi% . He threatened to sue the paper if they couldn't provide proof that he actually did that. Then ended up retracting the story and apologized. It came out later that the story originated from a rival school angry that Davis didn't go there. The Chicago Sun Times article had Anthony Davis' father asking for $150,000 in exchange for his son's commitment.
46-26 vs. 40-27 against much easier schedules are not anywhere close to identical.Turd sandwiches either way like someone said this morning lol. Records are damn near identical.
Hahaha, so some writer said there were rumors and now it is fact? Keep trying. The Chicago Sun Times article had Anthony Davis' father asking for $150,000 in exchange for his son's commitment.
Eh, bags were a thing back then. Who cares. Jay Williams just went on an interview openly talking about his black duffel bag and asked the Duke guy next to him if he got one. I presume everyone was doing some of it.Hahaha, so some writer said there were rumors and now it is fact? Keep trying.
Actually they literally are one game away from being identical. Just because your opinion about schedule difficulty says today is harder im not buying it.46-26 vs. 40-27 against much easier schedules are not anywhere close to identical.

46-26 vs. 40-27 is not literally one game difference. If you had looked at the link I gave you you would have seen the strength of schedule rating for their seasons. Pope has played a SOS difficulty of 14.04 and 12.96 (the two most difficult in school history) vs. 7.09 and 4.82 for Billy G (47th and 54th most difficult in the 76 seasons rated).Actually they literally are one game away from being identical. Just because your opinion about schedule difficulty says today is harder im not buying it.
But let's say your opinion that today is harder than back then is true. Even tho we play the same exact programs. If we cheated back then and payed players and I guess yall assume had more resources than these other programs why does that make today easier? If we have more resources today than than other programs we shouldn't be a ninth seed in the tournament.
Look at the revenue share. We put way more towards Basketball than any other program. Roughly 45%. So where are yall getting Billy G had all these advantages and an easier schedule than Pope? Pope literally has an advantage over other coaches. Thats just revenue. Not including boosters and everything else.
Even tho I don't want either man anywhere near the program im still going to roll with Billy G in today's game over Pope. It's really not close. He played the same damn teams.
ONLY REASON YALL SAY TODAY IS HARDER IS BECUASE POPE IS TERRIBLE AND WE CANT COMPETE WITH THE CONFERENCE ANYMORE.
its more of we got worse than the schedule got harder. Florida is winning titles now and they was winning even more back then. Pope protectors man.
That's a huge "if." At the beginning of last year, we all thought we would be getting Jelly, Garrison, Lowe, Jasper, Chandler, and Mo D for this season. In the NIL world, coaches shouldn't count on anything. Especially a coach like Pope.If we can get zoom Mason Morton N’Diaye McBride Hawthorne and Kam back that’s a really good core to build onto.
Im rolling with BIlly G Paul. Sure he was terrible but we didn't get made fun of nationally. Pope is terrible just like Billy but we get made fun of and used like a hooker in a wild west saloon.46-26 vs. 40-27 is not literally one game difference. The SRS (actual performance vs schedule) rates at 21.26 and 19.13 for Pope vs. 9.19 and 12.96 for BCG.

Billy Gs team will do Popes team exactly like Georgia does them. Come on man Pope can't even beat Georgia. Can't even beat Bama one time out of how many?Pope is better than Billy Clyde by a country mile.
That said, neigther one of them is UK material.
Every other post you have ever made has been horribly stupid as well so this is exactly the kind of reply I expect from you. God forbid you ever admit to being wrong even when it has so thoroughly been proven to you.Im rolling with BIlly G Paul. Sure he was terrible but we didn't get made fun of nationally. I haven't seen much on him, but boy he is built like a tank, looks more like a FB player. I can't think of many comps.I was always curious about Nasir Anderson's recruitment. I agree with the poster who said he was a bully-ball type PG - which is no knock on him for me. But M. Williams went head-to-head with Anderson last season and I think thoroughly out played him (and no, I don't care about the non-sequitur of who is ranked where in high school recruiting rankings). Now it's one game and Anderson is also a class behind Williams (I don't know about their ages), but I wonder if playing time concerns arise - especially if you think maybe both Diallo and Williams are at UK next season.
You are a big numbers guy. Those numbers from computers or random people don't reflect reality. Like hiw can you actually judge a strength of schedule? I guess the same way they have preseason polls and some teams they predict to ball out don't even make the tournament.46-26 vs. 40-27 is not literally one game difference. Actually I will debate you and make valid points like I always have. And I'll do it without attacking you. I'll do it respectfully. I'll make a valid point that you can disagree with all you want but don't try to distract with all the little non sense things.Every other post you have ever made has been horribly stupid as well so this is exactly the kind of reply I expect from you. Do you continue to insist 46-26 vs 40-27 to be literally one game difference as well?![]()

Hopefully somebody can answer my question about strength of schedule. Paul ran away when I asked him a valid question about his strength of schedule argument. So does strength of schedule get stated before the season? Is it a thing that can change as the season goes on? Or is it a thing where they overated a terrible Texas a&m team before the season but on the strength of schedule it still takes it as the ninth team in the country when really they are not even a ranked team. How's it work Paul
I gave you conclusive facts and you basically said you don't care, you are not changing your mind, Pope is the worst coach in history, made up some stuff about embarrassment, national jokes, and blah, blah, blah.So does strength of schedule get stated before the season? Is it a thing that can change as the season goes on? Or is it a thing where they overated a terrible Texas a&m team before the season but on the strength of schedule it still takes it as the ninth team in the country when really they are not even a ranked team. The strength rating of your opponents is derived by the strength of their opponents and their actual results against those opponents. The SOS and SRS ratings I have given you would appropriately adjust to the actual results of the completed season. You are a big numbers guy. Those numbers from computers or random people don't reflect reality. Like hiw can you actually judge a strength of schedule? I guess the same way they have preseason polls and some teams they predict to ball out don't even make the tournament.
Like we went crazy about beating number nine on the road but two weeks later the entire country blows it off like aw well they actually aren't thay good. So is the strength of schedule really a point of argument when they rank them number nine then all of a sudden they are garbage?
Let's just go off of what we witnessed back then and what we are seeing today. You can't find a softer coach in college basketball than Pope.
They are both in an eternal battle of suckage to me. I hope Pope fixes it, but I’m still seeing the same things. I don’t see him becoming an elite recruiter, injuries still happening at a crazy pace, and we will see about game prep and how hard they play this year.Pope is better than Billy Clyde by a country mile.
That said, neither one of them is UK material.
You did not wait long enough to get a response. It was 16 minutes from you asking to this.Hopefully somebody can answer my question about strength of schedule. Paul ran away when I asked him a valid question about his strength of schedule argument.
So back when Billy g was coach maybe 3-4 sec teams made the tourney max. It’s been what 12-13 teams under pope. Seems like the competition is a little bit stiffer these days. But I guess that don’t matter. Also the comment about we didn’t get made fun of under Billy G. I take it you weren’t around then by that comment alone.Hopefully somebody can answer my question about strength of schedule. Paul ran away when I asked him a valid question about his strength of schedule argument.
You admitted to (edited) it after I had already called you out on it.Also I already admitted to misreading the 40 wrong abovesimple mistake. I actually can admit when im wrong. And when you say something that makes sense I have the ability to agree with you.
I was only kidding paul. Im just messing with you. Hopefully you can hate my opinions but still see im not trolling at all. I get you hate me crapping on pope man.You did not wait long enough to get a response. It was 16 minutes from you asking to this.
I edited it way before. Im sure yiu csn see a time stamp or somethingYou admitted to (edited) it after I had already called you out on it.
Not to mention starting 50 threads an hour at times as well as posting gay porn. I'll go ahead put you on ignore now. I'll probably see your next account in a day or two anyway.I was only kidding paul. Im just messing with you. Hopefully you can hate my opinions but still see im not trolling at all. We didnt get made fun of like we are now. Im sure we did a little because we are UK and usually great while Billy G sucked....but I don't we were s national running joke. The pr Pope and Kentucky have had the last two years is terrible. So back when Billy g was coach maybe 3-4 sec teams made the tourney max. It’s been what 12-13 teams under pope. Seems like the competition is a little bit stiffer these days. But I guess that don’t matter. Also the comment about we didn’t get made fun of under Billy G. OK that was in the past. Im not asking for forgiveness lol.....just stay on topic. There's no gay porn around right now but as much as you bring that up I feel like you are disappointed..Not to mention starting 50 threads an hour at times as well as posting gay porn. I'll go ahead put you on ignore now. I'll probably see your next account in a day or two anyway.
I can easily see where it was not there when I quoted you in my reply. So long until your next account.I edited it way before. Im sure yiu csn see a time stamp or something
So you are going to avoid the strength of schedule question because it destroys your argument. Got it..funnyI can easily see where it was not there when I quoted you in my reply. So long until your next account.
At this point is anyone here surprised when we don’t get a recruit? Hell at this point I don’t even pay attention to it. Don’t really care what he does because he can’t win anyways. We’re literally just waiting out the inevitable of him being fired after this year or next.
