He was ok. Was getting on the field for a team/coach that develops NFL DBs so I am surprised he left. He is replaceable and hopefully we can upgrade.

He made a wise choice

I like Masco and while it did seem he took a step back last year- think about that. It would mean that he was actually better the year before. This seems more indicative of coaching rather than a player's talent.

I do think he is a loss for us next year as he also has a lot of experience and has shown previously, that he can do the job

Safety’s this year don’t have anyone to cover for them and still getting torched by inferior competition. And they are an entirely new bunch. Yet Bo just had a strong showing on a national stage. Bo did more to cover up inferior coaching and talent than people want to realize.

Mascoe is a good player hamstrung by poor defensive schemes and lack of talent around him. He will end up at a high P4 school and will likely thrive under better circumstances. It’s a loss for us.

I know what it is. But this is the latest excuse. Just read this thread and the stories that were being told back in December when they entered the portal. Money was never mentioned. It was they were lousy, easily replaceable and passed over on the depth chart. If the numbers Kelli confirmed the other day regarding roster payroll. Greg has some explaining to do with allocation.

Ian has had his moments. Led team yesterday in defeating Syracuse. Leading team in receiving yards. Their QB JKS has been a little bit off this year and their RB Mohammed is leading the team in number of receptions--he is a beast.

Considering the state of the defense, and people can say this is hindsight, defensive players should have been a priority. And Georgia Tech does not have a lot of NIL money. Would love to know what RU paid for Lonergan. But after Friday night, maybe he was "worth" it.

@RUgal has a good point. Who was making the evaluations, and maybe players did not want to stay when they saw they had no defensive coaching staff in place.

Correct. And 100% of this points back to one person--the head coach. The old saying the fish stinks from the head applies here.

Before the podcast with Richie, Alec, Mike and Larry, I had posted that they should fire Greg and put Johansen in as interim HC. People can laugh that off all they want, but this is what Northwestern did with Braun, and it has kind of worked out. The difference is Braun was there for a full year and he was installed after the season ended. There are two other former HC's on staff- Brock and Dennis Dottin-Carter was HC at Delaware after Brock got fired. Johansen was 10-5/6-2 in one season, but he took over a winning program.

Rather went a different route and placed an emphasis on retaining or attracting other people. One of those people “retained” was one of the major problems of why the backend looked so bad as a unit last year. Someone Bo was constantly covering for. And I haven’t seen Kaj make a play all year. From what I’ve heard. He was PAID.

I go to a lot of University of Maine home games because they are near me. When they have a player who breaks out you know he will be gone by the next season. It sucks, but it is understandable given they are an FCS team.

The idea that Rutgers is a member of one of the two conferences every school would want to get into, and yet is in many aspects a minor league team, is just unconscionable.

Schiano should have completely overhauled the defense it was so bad. If schools like UMass could identify and bring in 50 new players with a $3MM NIL budget, surely Schiano could have. He doesn’t know what he’s doing though.
