He made a wise choiceHe was ok. Was getting on the field for a team/coach that develops NFL DBs so I am surprised he left. He is replaceable and hopefully we can upgrade.

#CoachingMattersI like Masco and while it did seem he took a step back last year- think about that. It would mean that he was actually better the year before. This seems more indicative of coaching rather than a player's talent.
I do think he is a loss for us next year as he also has a lot of experience and has shown previously, that he can do the job
Was Bo shown the door, or did he get a big bag? That Mark Orphey must be a solid coach.
Was Bo shown the door, or did he get a big bag?
Yep, I’m gonna be that guy and quote myself (since someone else resurrected this thread). Good talent leaves us. It’s time to move on to the next chapter of Rutgers football.Mascoe is a good player hamstrung by poor defensive schemes and lack of talent around him. He will end up at a high P4 school and will likely thrive under better circumstances. It’s a loss for us.
Losing Bo and Jordan Walker to GT didn’t help us.Yep, I’m gonna be that guy and quote myself (since someone else resurrected this thread). Good talent leaves us. It’s time to move on to the next chapter of Rutgers football.
Not what you said earlier in this thread post 15.Losing Bo and Jordan Walker to GT didn’t help us.
He wanted a lot of money and Rutgers didn’t see the value there to keep him at that value. Was Bo shown the door, or did he get a big bag?
Looking like a talent evaluation mistake. Common theme. He wanted a lot of money and Rutgers didn’t see the value there to keep him at that value.
He actually broke up a few passes. Coaching matters.Mascoe having a great game against Jeremiah Smith tonight. Herbstreit just mentioned Mascoe being a former Scarlet Knight.
Guess Texas developed him better than Rutgers
Knock it off, we got some top quality FCS transfers.Looking like a talent evaluation mistake. Common theme.
He did not look violent at all.He actually broke up a few passes. Coaching matters.
Perhaps the lack of violence allowed him to stay in the same zip code as Smith while covering him.He did not look violent at all.![]()
I’ll stick to my statement. And the one from December which was met with people saying it wasnt a loss.Knock it off, we got some top quality FCS transfers.
Major role in Texas besting OSU yesterday. Waiting for Ian Strong to shine.![]()
Rutgers Football DB Bo Mascoe to enter Transfer Portal
Rutgers Football cornerback Bo Mascoe will enter the transfer portal after three seasons with the program per source.www.on3.com
Yes, coaching matters. he was coached up here that allowed him to transfer to Texas. It goes both ways.He actually broke up a few passes. Coaching matters.
It’s like a salary cap. We are not the Yankees. I saw that Jordan Walker is a captain at Ga Tech. Another kid that was developed here to benefit other schools.Looking like a talent evaluation mistake. Common theme.
He went there to be reunited with Orphey.Yes, coaching matters. he was coached up here that allowed him to transfer to Texas. It goes both ways.
My point is he was developed enough that Texas wanted him. He was not a high recruit out of high school. His top choices were Iowa and Rutgers. He went there to be reunited with Orphey.
I know what it is. But this is the latest excuse. Just read this thread and the stories that were being told back in December when they entered the portal. Money was never mentioned. It was they were lousy, easily replaceable and passed over on the depth chart. If the numbers Kelli confirmed the other day regarding roster payroll. Greg has some explaining to do with allocation. It’s like a salary cap. We are not the Yankees. I saw that Jordan Walker is a captain at Ga Tech. Another kid that was developed here to benefit other schools.
Ian has had his moments. Led team yesterday in defeating Syracuse. Leading team in receiving yards. Their QB JKS has been a little bit off this year and their RB Mohammed is leading the team in number of receptions--he is a beast.Major role in Texas besting OSU yesterday. Waiting for Ian Strong to shine.
His recruiting profile and what Schiano said was he was steal and late bloomer. Was overlooked. My point is he was developed enough that Texas wanted him. He was not a high recruit out of high school. His top choices were Iowa and Rutgers.
Boy you nailed that!Comical watching our fanbase twist into knots over this but ok thinking a slow, undersized, fcs kid is a stud
Considering the state of the defense, and people can say this is hindsight, defensive players should have been a priority. And Georgia Tech does not have a lot of NIL money. Would love to know what RU paid for Lonergan. But after Friday night, maybe he was "worth" it.It’s like a salary cap. We are not the Yankees. I saw that Jordan Walker is a captain at Ga Tech. Another kid that was developed here to benefit other schools.
Rich (mod) posted it was about the money. He wanted a big bag and GS didn’t think it was worth it. We had too many holes to fill.I know what it is. But this is the latest excuse. I can’t imagine many good players would sign up without a dc in place.Considering the state of the defense, and people can say this is hindsight, defensive players should have been a priority. And Georgia Tech does not have a lot of NIL money. Would love to know what RU paid for Lonergan. But after Friday night, maybe he was "worth" it.
@RUgal has a good point. Who was making the evaluations, and maybe players did not want to stay when they saw they had no defensive coaching staff in place.Rich (mod) posted it was about the money. He wanted a big bag and GS didn’t think it was worth it. We had too many holes to fill.
Correct. And 100% of this points back to one person--the head coach. The old saying the fish stinks from the head applies here.I can’t imagine many good players would sign up without a dc in place.
Again like I said evaluation. I get having a salary cap. But the team didn’t put the proper tag on an established player. Rather went a different route and placed an emphasis on retaining or attracting other people. One of those people “retained” was one of the major problems of why the backend looked so bad as a unit last year. Someone Bo was constantly covering for. And I haven’t seen Kaj make a play all year. From what I’ve heard. He was PAID.Rich (mod) posted it was about the money. He wanted a big bag and GS didn’t think it was worth it. We had too many holes to fill.
KJ Duff and Antwan Raymond say hi.Yep, I’m gonna be that guy and quote myself (since someone else resurrected this thread). Good talent leaves us. It’s time to move on to the next chapter of Rutgers football.
$20-30M say hi back. Guessing they got maybe a total of $6M. That leaves $14-24M.KJ Duff and Antwan Raymond say hi.
When my wife and I were watching the Rutgers pre-season show and everyone was using the "violence" word we were both turned off. WTF was with that? It wasn't very "he's a Rutgers man" type of thing Schiano always preached. I saw more "violence" in the tail gating lots, lmfao.Perhaps the lack of violence allowed him to stay in the same zip code as Smith while covering him.
Schiano the resource allocator is worse than Schiano the coach.Looking like a talent evaluation mistake. Common theme.
I go to a lot of University of Maine home games because they are near me. When they have a player who breaks out you know he will be gone by the next season. It sucks, but it is understandable given they are an FCS team.In hindsight, it's funny that we expected big things when we lost guys to Texas, Virginia, Georgia Tech, etc. and replaced them with guys from South Dakota, Rice, and Toledo.
The Schiano cult will pretzel twist literally anything to try and make excuses for the obvious failures we witness. The money we have gets used terribly by this staff. In hindsight, it's funny that we expected big things when we lost guys to Texas, Virginia, Georgia Tech, etc. and replaced them with guys from South Dakota, Rice, and Toledo.
If you talk the talk you must be able to walk the walk. GS does a lot of talking but no so much walkingWhen my wife and I were watching the Rutgers pre-season show and everyone was using the "violence" word we were both turned off. WTF was with that? Schiano should have completely overhauled the defense it was so bad. If schools like UMass could identify and bring in 50 new players with a $3MM NIL budget, surely Schiano could have. He doesn’t know what he’s doing though.Again like I said evaluation. I get having a salary cap. But the team didn’t put the proper tag on an established player.
