These progressives are just terrible…

He’s not wrong. Truman was correct also…anything a certain party doesn’t like it’s scary socialist and now communist.

anybody who is realistic knows that elements of our society and politics falls under a socialist parameter.

But, if you're comparing those to the DSA platform, I don't think that's an accurate comparison. The two are far apart

I am starting to wonder whether or not we would be better off with robotic constitutional and liquidity decisions vs SCOTUS and the FOMC
Probably so. People are biased and fallible.

The FOMC should be replaced with market set interest rates. And AI will probably be the judge 25 years from now.

I linked their actual website too. I don’t agree with everything but I agree far more than the Republican policy of hoarding wealth for the few. I remind you again, Trump is basically extorting American companies. I choose more for all than all for just a few.
“Hoarding the wealth for a few”…. Sounds like a guy who has never had the guts, energy, or will to try and make it on his/her own. Now blames everyone else for what he/she doesn’t have.

The system works, and works well… but not for those who don’t try.

You believe Islam “loving others” non Islam?
Can you restate that? (not being snarky, just really not following the intended question)

Maybe this will answer it? I believe that just about every religion I have heard of has loving others, integrity, things like that as part of its core value system. And I also believe that just about every religion I have ever heard of has extremist or fundamentalists that have twisted it and/or used it for evil. So all I was really saying is while I understand that people can use things from their religion as guiding internal principles, they shouldn't try to use their religions moral code to create legislation. Basically, I am not saying that no one religious can be in politics, but I am saying that they shouldn't try to legislate their religion to force it upon others. I don't want the Quran forced upon every student in NY or Michigan, and I don't want the Bible forced upon every student in Oklahoma or Texas. Both the Quran and Bible say murder is wrong, but it also hurts other people, so regardless of either religious text, there is a non-religious reason to legislate it.

I can understand your desire for a religious text to not be an influence on legislation. That being said, one is not like the other.

Check the current receipts.

Only see one trying to legislate and force their religion on others here in America, where I am voting. So I actually agree. If in the future, other religions try to force their own texts and precepts on others, I would absolutely oppose that as well.

I linked also. I didn’t see your bullet points in the DSA story you linked.
I like you Tom and you are normally pretty rational so I will take an extra step here to show you exactly where these points are because for some reason you seem to have blinders on relative to the DSA.

Also I did not link a story. I gave you the DSA website published by the DSA with their entire political platform spelled out as approved by the DSA.

This will be my last post on this topic as we are just moving into rote repetition. These ARE the DSA policies. They are unrealistic, many are just plain stupid and if Dems embrace these it will backfire the way MAGA is going to backfire on the GOP.

It is extremism Tom.

Rest assured, if Islam takes a majority in any one geographical area, they’ll be doing so. They even have a name for it, which I’m certain you’re aware.

Thank goodness we have the constitution which forbids it. I'm just not going to lose sleep over something that's not happening, while ignoring something that is.

True. I lean right but currently, don't have a party. Anyone who disagrees with dear fuhrer is a radical leftist extremist.

Currently, I'll choose to be an independent that won't vote for a Republican until one can show that they truly are a fiscal conservative that believes in the constitution and puts country first.
No problem with any of that, but as someone who has lived under virtual GOP tyranny for fifteen years, it's not enough. Are you willing to hold your nose and vote for the candidate who has the best chance of defeating a Republican?

Voting for a third-party loser or just staying home isn't enough. Both of those moves support the GOP - it's precisely what they want. They'll back a third-party candidate as it appears they're doing in MI with the Green Party's Shane Dedrick in order to split the vote.

At this point, anyone who votes third party or skips the election is MAGA-adjacent.

If college was free why wouldn’t colleges just triple tuition since the federal government would just pay any amount?

I think at the core, what the far leftists/progressives don't understand when the DSA platform is criticized is that it really is a fundamental change to the institutions themselves.

Project 2025/Maga is a far right extremist platform because they ALSO want to do the same. Democrats mostly propose big changes through existing institutions; Project 2025 is making changes to the institutions themselves, and the DSA wants to do the same.

They're two sides of the same coin, and I'm not sure that doing the same exact thing but the opposite of Maga/Project 2025 is the best way forward for America (coming from a pretty progressive Liberal).

I don't think people that have lost faith in the institutions are going to give a flying f@ck about keeping them the way they are. There has been a referendum about preserving the system and norms and it lost.

Welcome to the new age of reform and graft. Isn't it swell that we traded a system worth trying to fix for the promises of @ssholes that think being a public servant is detestable?

Well done and very illuminating, but I doubt it cuts through the crap. Post after post is about level and severity of how Democrats need to distance themselves from specific views. Like proving a negative.

From what I've seen, that is just how people telegraph that they are looking for the first thing to justify their opposition to any non center-right politician.

from curiosity, which side is advocating adding funding to the coffers to address the debt?
Biden attempted pay fors by stopping wealthy tax cheats and raising taxes on the wealthy. We’ve been through this. Did you believe Ted Cruz when he scared Republican voters by lying about 87,000 IRS agents coming for them? Democrats are trying to get tax dollars from the 10% who hoards all the wealth in the country. It’s ridiculous that the first trillionaire claims a smaller salary than I do.

If college was free why wouldn’t colleges just triple tuition since the federal government would just pay any amount?

reparations? Can I just declare myself black ? If that is acceptable for gender why not?
we're going to need a heck of a lot more rich people to pay for all of this...but then they won't be rich anymore, and since the government now owns ( what happens to the stockholders? does everyone lose money in their 401k is the government takes over) all the corporations, how do we generate more rich people to pay the bills after a couple of years

Thank goodness we have the constitution which forbids it. I'm just not going to lose sleep over something that's not happening, while ignoring something that is.

Interesting because that's the same response we heard from republicans when people were concerned about trump and the far right. Far left, far right, it's all bad.

This is a little different. I'm being asked to worry about Muslim's enacting Shakira law (when they are not even close to having any sort of majority or power on their side of the aisle), no laws have been proposed enacting it, etc. But not worry about the many laws from Christian Nationalism, and MAGA absolutely having a HUGE amount of power on the right, including all three levels of government.

I didn't lose sleep over Christian Nationalism or MAGA prior to trump. It's amazing how a single election can make you start to lose some sleep. There needs to be third party because I'm losing sleep because of democrats and republicans.

The pendulum swung so far right it only makes sense it will swing the other way.
Fascism can be either left-wing or right-wing ... so if the pendulum swung toward right-wing fascism under the reign of MAGAts, you're saying it makes sense that it'll swing to left-wing fascism ... and you're cool with that. The other alternative to left-wing fascism, at that level of extremism, is communism.

No, to reasonable people, that swing doesn't "make sense." It makes a catastrophe.

Are you equating Trump's MAGA movement with a few progressive Democrats that are Muslim? I can't recall a time in US history where a major party's platform was simply whatever one man wants (Trump). The power of Democrat progressives pales in comparison to one Trump tweet.

What's I've learned is, don't underestimate the power of a single person or movement. Especially when a team is willing to sell it's soul just so the other team doesn't win.
