Pope asks medical staff.. How he doing...... Progressing fine.... 60%......
Few weeks later..... Same thing... 70%.....
A month later..... 80%..
Then it get to 90.....
And stalls.....
Hey coach.... Might need a few more months to get over the last hurdle..... Then he gets worse..... They try a few things..... The kid wants to play... No coach... I'm fine.... I'll be ready.....and it gets worse.... Then.... A 2nd surgery is needed.... Sounds like a totally perfect time line.... And pope is supposed to plan for that how..... If medical stay told him back in April..... Timeline looks good he will be ready.... And they keep saying that.... Becsuse it actually looked to be true. How is that pope's fault.... Lot of things to be upset about him..... This is not one...

I think Pope and we know more about college rosters now. If Lewis jumped ship at the last second this year, I think Pope would find a European PG as a bandaid over the void. It may not fit as well as Lewis but would have avoided the Jasper crash and burn PG experience. The idea that Aberdeen could combo when Lowe was on the bench was solid if Lowe stays healthy. Lowe averaged 35 minutes at Pitt. Lewis leaving sucked but still was workable. When Lowe went down, the roster no longer made sense, especially with Lewis at Nova.
JQ looked like a great piece in the St John’s game. He is a next level athlete and it showed. Unfortunately, the risk overwhelmed the benefit.
Without Lowe and Lewis, the pieces never were able to fit. A starting perimeter of Lowe, Aberdeen, and Oweh would have been fun to watch develop and had Chandler and Lewis come off the bench, that would have been one of the best backcourts in the country, IMO.

If you could read, I was adding the backups of Chandler and Lewis to that backcourt. The 1, 2, and 3 would have been covered as well as any in the country. Because you don’t know basketball does not make me a moron. The use of the word moron to describe others says a lot about your intellect. Do better, if you can.
I think having Lowe may have traded one problem for another. At one point he was taking more shots per minute than Oweh. Finished just behind him the games he played in. That’s A LOT of shots for a guy that doesn’t make shots. Not saying he didn’t do some good things but this team didn’t just need a guy who could handle the ball, they needed a pg.
Now if Cooley can get him to buying into being an actual pg for Georgetown, he could be pretty good.

Wouldn’t that have been a perfect time to be a distributor and not a chucker? I know it’s a small sample size but that’s how he played at Pitt too and maybe he needed to there but we didn’t that and although a small sample size, that’s how he played here.
I just don’t see him playing “that” way with DA and OO on the wings would have been any better than what we ended up with. Which obviously wasn’t that great.
No, I think he felt like he had to be more aggressive to score because the offense was anemic before he rejoined the squad.
I think the original plan was for him to be a pass-first facilitator and I think he would have been great at it. But early season Oweh was horrid and no one was scoring so there was no spacing. He had to score to earn power plays — unfortunately, he didn’t stay healthy long enough for that to happen.
I don’t dislike the young man. He did some good things but I disagree on why he tried to do too much. I think that’s just how he plays. You don’t have to agree but imo, more of him would have been more of the below and that team didn’t need that.

I don’t see the point in posting the box score. He was barely even functional. I don’t think anyone thinks the version of him we saw was a good one.

Like I said, he did some good things. For a half against UL, against StJ, Bama but I think the bad would have outweighed the good and with last year’s dysfunctional team, I don’t think there’d been any difference.
I already explained why. Everyone knew why back then also. Our offense was anemic up to that point. We saw better versions of Aberdeen and Oweh later in the year, but not back then. We were trying to figure out ways to earn power plays, our zoom wasn’t getting it done and wasn’t able to be run due to poor spacing. That changed later in the year with Moreno becoming the trigger and our guards making shots.
