Colin Withers is one giant individual 6'3" 329.....
Woah. When he committed he was listed at 285. Although, that weight could have been old, even for that particular time.

This is a duplicated thread, so I'll only make one more post, Dean Oliver's kid Isaiah looks like a great preferred walk-onDidn't realize we had Aaron Kampman's kid come in from Solon.
A day or two. Definitely not "old" news.Seeing our highest-rated wide receiver recruit from last year is no longer on the team. T. Smith
Is this old news?
Some big boys in this freshman (sorry 1st year class). Withers 6'3 329, Nielsen 6'7 311, Parliment 6'4 313, Riorden 6'5 302Woah. When he committed he was listed at 285. Although, that weight could have been old, even for that particular time.

I like the size too. As to classification I think we will still use freshman through senior. When they get to that fifth year we will refer to the players as fifth year seniors just like we always have with players who took a redshirt year. The new rule just throws redshirt out the window. Some big boys in this freshman (sorry 1st year class). Withers 6'3 329, Nielsen 6'7 311, Parliment 6'4 313, Riorden 6'5 302
No steroids or HGH, I'm sure. Just the natural development of a kid who eats right and works hard.Woah. When he committed he was listed at 285. Although, that weight could have been old, even for that particular time.
Again, just a lot of hard work and good eatin'. No steroids or HGH or anything like that. Pretty amazing. Some big boys in this freshman (sorry 1st year class). Withers 6'3 329, Nielsen 6'7 311, Parliment 6'4 313, Riorden 6'5 302
Nothing would surprise me.No steroids or HGH, I'm sure. Just the natural development of a kid who eats right and works hard.
They only get 5 now.I am enjoying the years being displayed as 1st, 2nd, 3rd, etc.
5 to play 5 right? No need to redshirt anymore. They only get 5 now.
Just going by the roster in the link. players are now listed (on the Iowa website) as 1st, year, 2nd year etc.. Its obvious the "class" they are in school no longer has any effect on how the program classifies them. You are 1st year thru 5th year player now.I like the size too. Did I say anything about substances?Again, just a lot of hard work and good eatin'. No steroids or HGH or anything like that. Pretty amazing.
Thanks for the update as as I haven't looked at the roster. I thought freshman through fifth year senior seemed simpler. But I can get used to the new way of classification. I do like the five to play five rule much better and it seems so much more sensible.Just going by the roster in the link. players are now listed (on the Iowa website) as 1st, year, 2nd year etc.. Wait - You're still not being clear...Are there steroids or HGH involved here?Again, just a lot of hard work and good eatin'. No steroids or HGH or anything like that. Pretty amazing.

Maybe the coaches or Phillips himself wanted him faster? Being only 5'8" and 211 is still very stout.Brian back like with Wadley?
If you are gonna have a newby QB it is best to have some great weapons to hand off and dump the ball to.I am salivating at the thoughts of our running backs and tight ends this season. on quarterbacks, not so much.
If you remember, they jumped on Wadley I believe for being too light? Needed more weight to be more durable. I may be misremembering the player, but I believe that was Wadley.Maybe the coaches or Phillips himself wanted him faster? Being only 5'8" and 211 is still very stout.
Oh 100% it was...never heard them bag on a single player for weight...maybe it was all true and needed, maybe not..yet it was a bit creepy how much the media and interviews around this topic was. After the NW game in 2015, remember he had that huge rushing day and KF was interviewed after game and instead of giving some quick praise, etc, he gave backhanded compliments, etc....Now, knowing what we now know perhaps it was justified and sending a message but a bit cringe at the time...If you remember, they jumped on Wadley I believe for being too light? Not sure the correlation. First off Wadley came in around 165-170. That was too light to play RB in the B1G. Phillips weighed about 220+ last year, so not the same thing. The big deal with Wadley was MUCH deeper then just his weight. Each player on the team was given a target weight and a personalized training AND nutrition program customized specifically for them. The problem Kirk and the staff had with Wadley was he wasn't meeting either his training or nutrition goals for first 1 1/2 years. They felt he wasn't serious enough about trying to reach the goals that were being set for him. This led to his limited playing time. I guess some of that could be construed as punishment, and some as looking out for him not giving him the work load until he was more physically prepared. If you remember, they jumped on Wadley I believe for being too light? Read my post after yours. There were reasons he was held back.Oh 100% it was...never heard them bag on a single player for weight...maybe it was all true and needed, maybe not..yet it was a bit creepy how much the media and interviews around this topic was. Mine was a joke. Don't take so seriously. I threw the Brian in there. Not sure the correlation. First off Wadley came in around 165-170. That was too light to play RB in the B1G. I read post #29. It doesn't say anything about Brian. I'm not being "overly serious". There are still posters here who think the guy was treated badly. That's not the case. Just putting some facts into the conversation. or is that not allowed? Just the jokes I guess.....Mine was a joke. Don't take so seriously. I threw the Brian in there.
It was Wadley, but Wadley was also three inches taller and didn't even get to 190 lbs until his fourth year in the program. If you remember, they jumped on Wadley I believe for being too light? Needed more weight to be more durable. I may be misremembering the player, but I believe that was Wadley.
Gtfo of here with that nonsense! if you aren't being a whiney liberal nutjob, you are making ridiculous baseless accusations against your own "team"... Go take your medicine! No steroids or HGH, I'm sure. Just the natural development of a kid who eats right and works hard.
This isn't Nebraska of the 80s and 90s... these guys get tested regularly. Chris Doyle is probably the greatest S&C coach of all-time, Iowa has his blueprint.Nothing would surprise me.
I know those things. I'm just saying, athletes find ways. I had classes with athletes when in grad school and this discussion came up. They all said you generally have to screw up pretty bad to get caught and are even given a timetable for when you get tested. This isn't Nebraska of the 80s and 90s... these guys get tested regularly.
