Lebanese meatball. It’s essentially ground meat (beef or lamb), wheat, onion and spices. I’ll eat it raw too against my mom’s wishes. For those of us who got our great tans from our Native American ancestors, what’s a kibbeh?

We occasionally had KFC after church. Was always a good afternoon. When she picked up Popeyes
Your grandmother was a large black woman? CoolMy grandmother just called it food
My mother’s great aunt made amazing chicken and dumplings. Before she died, my mom spent a weekend with her for the main purpose of learning to cook that meal. Definitely my favorite thing mom cooks.Chicken and dumplings
My wife makes better chicken and dumplings than my mother did and hers were excellent. I feel safe saying that now that she’s dead and buried. Had I said that publicly while she was alive I would have had to live in fear of being whacked by a wooden spoon. My mother’s great aunt made amazing chicken and dumplings. Nah she was white and wouldn't be described as white.Your grandmother was a large black woman? Cool
My wife is an excellent cook, but her chicken and dumplings are not on the same level. It’s a delicate situation whenever one of them cooks their version. My wife makes better chicken and dumplings than my mother did and hers were excellent. That sounds like me.Fried chicken. I loved fried chicken night with homemade mashed potatoes.
Breakfast. My friends when I was growing up would want to come sleep over because they knew we would get a huge breakfast feast.
Used to work with a guy from the delta that brought it to work all the time. Swore it was safe to eat raw. I never tried it.Lebanese meatball. It’s essentially ground meat (beef or lamb), wheat, onion and spices. I’ll eat it raw too against my mom’s wishes.
I don’t eat the raw version.Used to work with a guy from the delta that brought it to work all the time. Swore it was safe to eat raw. I never tried it.
This is accurate for me, too. Rotate in a meatloaf for chicken for 1a.Fried chicken, purple hull peas, butterbeans, fried okra, fried squash, mashed potatoes, green beans, cornbread. Mixed and matched, not necessarily everything at the same time but variety was never lacking on Sundays. I'd say purple hull peas and fried okra were always part of the rotation if the okra crop was good that year. I hated harvesting that garden and shelling peas and beans plus snapping green beans but damn the meals were good growing up.
I've got several like that too.Nah she was white and wouldn't be described as white.
Dude, I've made spaghetti sandwiches for years.Spaghetti and white toast.
I've always thought that families need a pizza night (or whatever food) the same day every week. It bonds people, starts a tradition and certainly brings about comfort. After my parents got divorced and it was just my mom, my brother , and I, we would get little caesars every Friday and rent a movie and watch it. I was a scared kid, but every Friday night the world was okay. Honestly, those are the best meals I’ve ever had.
Quick answer, Raw ground beef that crazies tell you is ok to eat. “The spices kill the bacteria”. I’m good. It’s nasty. But try it!!!For those of us who got our great tans from our Native American ancestors, what’s a kibbeh?
I do love a spaghetti sammichSpaghetti and white toast.
It’s not safe to eat raw. I just rolled the dice.Used to work with a guy from the delta that brought it to work all the time. Swore it was safe to eat raw. I never tried it.
She overcooked most everything mostly because she preferred her steaks to be well done
Red beans and rice. Damn, It was good!Meat loaf, black eyed peas, Mac and cheese and cornbread
Awesome thread.Meat loaf, black eyed peas, Mac and cheese and cornbread
Heck, even real mashed potatoes don’t take that long. Same for Mac & cheese. It’s more than worth a few minutes. For a quick weeknight, sure.
Beyond that, no. There is a massive difference between those and doing them right.
Salmon croquettes are underrated.Salmon croquettes, green beans, real mashed potatoes, yeast rolls, and iced tea.
Our dialect sounded more like Ice potatoesPotted Meat Sandwiches with Arsh Potaters fried in lard.
