Tough to beat out an in state school when the in state school has very little competition at the same position in the same class and the out of state school has a strong wr roster and 2 four star wr in the same class.

PSU only has one WR commit in this class.

I posted it because I’m not sure what point he is trying to make. It appears he insinuated that PSU has two 4 star WRs already committed?

Are you seriously putting OSU and PSU in the same sentence at WR?
No just pointing out that lots of teams have deficiencies.

I know.....I'm anticipating the Taylor commitment. And I'm sure Deshawn Hall is too.
I sure hope they get Taylor, but don’t count your chickens before they are hatched. Missing out on him at this point would be FUBAR. Crazy to think that some thought after OVs that PSU was going to land Dean, Hall, and Taylor.

Not unexpected at this juncture, him being a resident of Alabama. PSU should maintain contact in case he waivers as the season progresses.
Perhaps. Interesting though that Auburn has a new head coach also, who is a first time P4 HC. Also, don’t forget they managed to get former PSU OL commit Von Brandt to commit to them. He’s the #1 player in Delaware. They landed the #3 player in MD too. A highly rated Edge player out of DeMatha, James Pace. Golesh is starting off well down there. It’s a tough place to win. Time will tell.

According several sites Auburn has in the neighborhood of 10-12 million more in NIL capital than PSU. Who.knows what the.actual numbers are but PSU probably never going be a top program for NIL unless a whale donor shows up out of the blue.

While that is probably true as it is Alabama and they would probably prioritize football over life itself, Auburn has very limited tradition and success. They haven’t been significant on the national scene since Cam Newton. I guess cash is king these days though.

You're right there, Auburn isn't going anywhere soon.

I'm have no idea if he had some northeast connections from his previous coaching gigs, most recently at USF?
He spent a year as a student assistant at Ohio State. A few years as an assistant at Toledo. Ironically, he was the TE coach and recruiting coordinator for Campbell at Iowa State from 2016-2019. The two worked together as assistants at Toledo.

Hall was disappointing. Apparently we were right there with Auburn in the nil offer until the very end at which point they sweetened the offer somehow. Need Khalil Taylor for this class. We also seem to be attempting to flip a different wr named Taylor too who is committed to Rutgers.

It’s puzzling to me when PSU supposedly has the largest dues-paying alumni base in the country. But maybe it’s because the alumni are paying dues rather than NIL. 😂

It s funny that you mention that...my Dad famously said he joined the alumni association on the.day the day that he graduated over 50 years ago. He s also a long time ticket holder. He is completely turned off by several things with the athletic department. He can t stand Pat Kraft. As a retired architect he thinks they fumbled the stadium renovation in scope and cost. And lastly he always says what is the return on investment with yearly, large NIL donations?
He established a scholarship in the.architecture department because it s tangle and a worthy student will receive it and in almost every.case graduate. I doubt that he ll.ever donate to the Happy Valley United or any other collective at PSU.

And you think that is why he said it.

He'll get 4. If PSU doesn't win 10 in three of the next four years and see the playoffs once or twice (in addition must beat Ohio State at least once and Oregon as well).....there will be widespread unrest.
There are luxury boxes to sell and without measurable improvement over Franklin's record....it will be hard to sell "excellence at the highest level."
But back to recruiting, did you see Notre Dame just got a commit from a top 100 #12 rated receiver in the nation? They now have 2 five stars and 11 four stars. Why aren't "real" PSU fans asking why ND is so far ahead of PSU in recruiting?
We have. according to sources here, the biggest Addidas deal in college football and Kraft promised increased NIL resources.

Where are the game breakers?

Not yet....but a good foundation leads to a solid, sound building. From your post, I suppose you didn't think Franklin had reached "excellence at the highest level". He very rarely recruited a 5 star athlete....and typically lost out on the best in state talent to the SEC.
THIS is a good foundation?

Don't bother with the constant naysayers.

Tengwall really likes Alexander. He was raving over his film on his show. He said he will be one of our top recruits. He is very highly ranked nationally so this is an excellent pickup for us. Any differing opinion on this is simply ignorant.
There was never an opinion stated that he isn’t a good player. You’re either lacking reading comprehension or creating trouble. Probably both. And Penn State’s golden child Prince Landon is likely less than a season away from going National anyway. Seems to be more of an expert on Oregon and Notre Dame these days.

He’s a fraud that is still hurting from JF being fired. He took it way too personally so his way of getting back I guess is acting like a petulant child online every single day. Meanwhile the rest of us are hoping MC can do some things when he actually coaches an actual game/season.
The difference between Marshall and many of of his critics is that he is intellectual enough to avoid name calling and acting like a baby. He makes his points and gives facts-he doesn’t disparage or degrade. Like this poster does.

Just ignore him. Your experience will improve. That’s what I have done. There is nothing you can say, and there is nothing that Campbell can do, that will change his opinion. Campbell could win a natty this year and he is still going to be a troll. The Internet is full of trolls from message boards to social media. Their main objective is to bring depression and misery to the discourse. Often they are not even people, they are bots. 80% of social media users are computer bots meant to stir up trouble.

We were discussing Tengwall's assessment of Alexander. You're right, Tengwall needs Penn Staters to tune in for his livelihood. Does that mean he'd compromise his honesty to do so....I truly doubt that. So, I guess you don't think much of Tengwall either or I waa right about the sunrise. Which is it my friend?
There are some pretenders on this board who stalk every thread.
This could be perceived as hypocritical.

He's stupid, why not point it out every now and then.

Acutally, I tend to think he one of the guys OSU or some other school pays to post on other teams boards. I would have never thought schools would do that until it was admitte
I'm retired my friend......and loving it!!!
Marshall consistently show as much of or a greater football acumen and appreciation for Penn State than most of you on here. Just because he calls out the reality of our very concerning situation, it doesn’t make him negative or a bad fan. Or an OSU fan? What immature drivel is that? If you had any sense you would recognize that Marshall…like me, is SO passionate about PSU football that we cannot just slam our heads into the ground like ignorant bandwagon ostriches. Things are not all sunshine and roses right now and I don’t see an obvious reason that will change. I don’t see how this roster competes with the best in the country as it is. And if the Portal is where we stake our claim as is likely the stronger model, the sad truth there is it’s just another sad reason why the game is no longer what I used to love and is now just an NFL minor league with zero loyalty.

Against those two opponents, the wins are not "signature" unless you're measuring penmanship at the third-grade level. A Big Ten title qualifies, but one in eleven years? Expect more.
Expect more? Based off what? When was Penn State’s last Natty?

How did Franklin waste their money if he had no more than Campbell currently does? Where does this rumor about Franklin’s NIl mismanagement come from and what does it have to do with last season’s results?

Here are 2 glaring NIL blunders committed by Franklin:

1) Using valuable NIL money on Julian Fleming to play WR. This was one of the worst NIL moves of the Franklin era.
Fleming was a well known bust at Ohio State and Franklin signed him anyway. (2024 example)

2) Using valuable NIL money on 5 star TE Andrew Olesh. Olesh didn’t even dress for a single game and was not able to get beyond 4th string at the tight end position at Penn State. (2025 example)

Olesh’s TE peers by comparison, all played during their freshman year in 2025:

Elyiss Williams (Georgia) - played in 13 games as a 5 star TE
Linkon Cure (Kansas State) - played in 9 games as a 5 star TE
DaSaahn Brame (Tennessee) - played in 9 games as a 4 star TE
Nick Townsend (Texas) - played in 13 games as a 4 star TE

Given Penn State’s known TE depth, it made no financial sense to allocate valuable NIL funds for the TE position in 2025.

This blunder prevented Penn State from signing CB Brandon Finney who signed with Oregon and was named 2nd team All-B1G and defensive MVP in the 2026 Orange Bowl.
