Still hard to believe we paid $6 million to take Pope off their hands. He should have paid the buyout if he was so gung ho about coming here lol.No he’s not.
He is figured out. 11 seasons as head coach he’s the coach that he is.
He does nothing well as coach. No offensive plan. No defensive plan.
No preparation. Players don’t improve. Players not in condition.
His teams just don’t compete. And sometimes they just quit. Or even worse, they just don’t show up.
You could give Pope an NBA all star team and he would win 63%.
BYU was glad to get rid of him.
You can throw all that BS out there about Hurley and other coaches. Those teams got better every year. And they never just quit.
Popes teams get worse.
He’s 20-16 in the SEC. The worst 2 year stretch of any UK coach in history.
SmokescreenThat’s basically what happened with Milan’s recruitment too, though. Everyone thought it was done when Kam and Keegan Brown unfollowed him and that Jerry guy removed his crystal ball (obviously branham is more reputable but same line)
I'm not saying he has convinced me he's the man for the job (and I didn't like the hire and have a hard time still understanding how we settled for a coach with his resume) but it's pretty remarkable that a coach who does NOTHING well managed to fall *** backward into a 3 seed and a sweet 16 in his first season here.No he’s not.

We would have been utter trash without him. Only reason Pope wasn’t canned sooner. I can’t take another 10 loss season this year. I’ll let Pope cook and try and stay out of it but too many damn losses and way too many beat downs.Loved OO too. Unfairly maligned by many.
Agree to disagree. The only player I remember us getting this late and that was legit was Murray but I realize times have changed. I think we need guard depth for sure.Whatever this kid decides to do I like our group of guys. We got Milan and were trending upward. Anything else right now is icing and we’re likely not done, others will emerge. There’s a lot of offseason to go, bash away
LolNoah is shooting lights out in practice. Im guessing he will be 6th or 7th man in rotation
He was severely underrated in the portal as well. I believe he wasn’t even top 100.Otega carried the program for two seasons stopping it from being a complete embarrassment. The Otega hate is unreal. Be mad at the player because he's the best player the coach has gotten? I say thanks Otega for it being 14 losses instead of 24
Pope has developed several guys wellHe was severely underrated in the portal as well. I believe he wasn’t even top 100.
His first year I agree. Nobody got better last year. Maybe Moreno.Pope has developed several guys well
Yeah mainly 1st year. OO become a bonafide stud. DA also got better last seasonHis first year I agree. Nobody got better last year. Maybe Moreno.
lol BG. I guess god bless him. Curious to see what he does at Bama. Talk about a random place for a player.Yeah mainly 1st year. OO become a bonafide stud. DA also got better last season
I think Jasper and BG had no BBIQ from which to develop.
I think Bama just needed bodies lol. I hope we blast that program finallylol BG. I guess god bless him. Curious to see what he does at Bama. Talk about a random place for a player.
BG keeps me up at night. Somehow he will be unfathomably awful all year and I’ll bet when he plays us he will look the Greek Freak.lol BG. I guess god bless him. Curious to see what he does at Bama. Talk about a random place for a player.
You already know bro.BG keeps me up at night. Somehow he will be unfathomably awful all year and I’ll bet when he plays us he will look the Greek Freak.
And that's the smart play by UK, bc he's really not going to make much of an impact in year 1. And if you are UK you don't want to spend money and time developing him, just for him to transfer somewhere else for year 2.I meant "they" as in the Nikola camp. The money is there, but most of it would be paid by UK in the second season as that is the only way they can attempt to make sure he stays for 2 years.
Hopefully Franck the Tank puts him in a lockerBG keeps me up at night. Somehow he will be unfathomably awful all year and I’ll bet when he plays us he will look the Greek Freak.
Haha not Morg, just another UK alum that loves the schoolYeah but he could get multi multi millions playing in college for 2 years. I know that’s the big upside for euros coming over is the pay. I get exactly what you are saying.
you are morg right?

I wrote a decent write up, but I'll keep it brief this time. This very young, very skinny kid isn't making a major impact in the '26-'27 season. He's a developmental piece with a very high upside. This feels like one that will come back to haunt Pope and could be the difference between a final 4 or a sweet 16 and moving on from him after next season.
Here’s TarHole’s write up. Thanks for itI wrote a decent write up, but I'll keep it brief this time. This very young, very skinny kid isn't making a major impact in the '26-'27 season. He's a developmental piece with a very high upside.
I've watched a lot of Barca film lately, both the main team and the junior (Liga) squad, because my Heels pulled a center out of that program.
Here is what I can tell you about Nikola. He turned 17 about 7 weeks ago. He's really skinny. As a result he rarely plays for the top Barca team. But when he plays for the junior team against guys his own age, he plays very well. He needs patience and development. His potential is outstanding. But with college basketball being full of guys who are 4, 5, even 6 years older than him, he's going to be at major physical disadvantage in 2026. I see him as a developmental piece that you bring in specifically because you want to be in charge of his physical development to get him ready for a bigger role in '27-'28. UK doesn't need him to be a contributor next season. You've got guys that can handle that position for next year. That's why this would be a good fit. Particularly the idea of Milan Momocilovic mentoring Nikola. They are the same height, with Milan being about 40-45 lbs heavier and 4.5 years older. Nikola would learn a lot just practicing against Milan.
I don’t know how many times I’ve gotten that wrong lol. This is Morg @UKGrad24
My bad man. I keep making that mistake. Probably will again in the future just a heads up lol. Sorry in advance.Haha not Morg, just another UK alum that loves the school
Negative recruiting. Things are a toss upSo it’s not looking good now? What did I miss?
Get em Joe! It’s a lock now.Joe Adams confirmed that UK has reached out. Get em Pope!
Send me $10 on Venmo and I’ll give you the down low. No refunds. I’m an insider. I promise. So it’s not looking good now? What did I miss?

Branham didn’t vet his sources enough. Turns out we’re just one of multiple schools reaching out. He removed his crystal ball and basically said this isn’t a Pope whiff, he just had bad info.So it’s not looking good now? What did I miss?
Lol. “Insiders” strike again. I’d actually give credit to dude for admitting he was wrong if what you said is true, no reason to believe it isn’t.Branham didn’t vet his sources enough. Looking like Mark Stoops recordIs Pope really 20-16 in the SEC? Wow. I knew it was bad. Yeah, I need like a 5 loss total team this year and at least a final four to even contemplate a year 4 for him. And no, I don’t care what recruiting class he has locked up. I need to see a whole lot this year and I imagine the new AD does too. Nobody would fault him for wanting his own guy if we go 24-12 or whatever again. Those seasons break me as a fan. I’d rather we absolutely suck so it can’t be argued or be a juggernaut so it can’t be argued. Just my opinion.
Not gonna lie, immediately what popped in my mind.Looking like Mark Stoops record
