Recruiting takes another brutal hit

#2 player in the state, RB Tre Segarra has committed to none other than LSU and Lane Kiffin. The latter is merely insult to injury. Segarra is someone Beamer wanted, and needed, badly. This was a big miss. We offered him 18 months ago. LSU offered him this month.

When do we start sounding alarms about the incoming class?

It's time to sound the alarm now for the state of SC. According to this site, we lead for one guy at this point. Most seem to be going out of state.

Kiffin probably gave him the “If you go to SC you’ll end up pumping gas” routine that he fed to Alshon. The difference between him and Alshon is that he may have been stupid enough to believe it.

Obligatory responses:

He was never coming here

He was always going out of state

We didn't need him anyway

As true as this is, I dont even blink at recruiting anymore. Get the player, dont get the player, who cares. The portal killed any thought of a guy coming and staying.

If anything, portal recruiting is almost the inly thing worth paying attention to.

We are failing miserably.
Some may attempt to pass this off (your post #2), but this is a very alarming trend. For those who may attempt to pass this off with a myriad of excuses, I am going to just put this tidbit out there for reference.
Miami just signed 18 players for their 2027 class. All 18 have shut down their recruitments. Again for effect, All 18 have shut down their recruitment.

They've all signed? Like, on the dotted line?

This Segarra kid is still a couple of months from playing the first game of his senior year of high school, right? For the same reason I wouldn't get terribly excited about a "commitment" from him at this point, I'm not going to be despondent about his commitment to LSU. That is not to say I am particularly confident in Beamer's recruiting, but I just don't get excited about "commitments" from HS recruits any more. I don't see how anybody could.

Why does The Big Spur keep putting out that someone "flipped" from us when they never committed to us? BS in my opinion.

He’s confusing signed with commitment. If you’re signed, it’s likely your recruitment is shutdown (unless you’re Clemson).

When exactly was the last time we heard one of our commitments announce the've closed their recuritment.
I would gladly trade (as I'm sure most on here would) our situation with Miami's situation.

I think Dante Reno did, but that's all I got.

I give Beamer credit for clawing back Duckworth after he decommitted and appeared destined for LSU. If he's not the starter next year, though, he will transfer.
