Canada dominating the ball and getting forward…but leaving their defenders on an island when Bosnia counters. Fun first half.

this had the potential to be much worse. The GK got to the ball first (just barely), so contact after that is a foul on the attacker. FWIW, I thought the attacker was offsides on the play, but they only showed 1 replay, very briefly, so I'd have to see it a few more times to decide.

Thought it was incredibly tight. Would have been inches either way.

Trinidad and Tobago would be a more equitable matchup for Bosnia.

It might just be me but if the intention of the World Cup is to increase attention to soccer in the US does it make sense that they're playing at 9pm tonight, then 3pm and then 10pm? Maybe I'm just old but that seems like poor planning to me.

4 games on tap for Saturday. Sadly, I will miss all of them. Keep the dialogue going, guys. Here's hoping there are some good games, and/or some good goals, in the matches.

Qatar 0-1 Switzerland at the half. Penalty kick, I was cleaning and missed it all. Switzerland very creative in the box, playing really fine soccer, you think it will pay off.

F me, all through the first half I thought Switzerland was wearing red. I just now told my wife this. “That’s totally on brand, dear.”

Qatar draws even at 95’. I’m not sure what Switzerland could have done there. Just brilliantly set up and executed. I’m not happy but credit to Qatar.

Group B (Switzerland Qatar Canada Bosnia H) all tied up, two draws. Boy, what a kick in the nuts for Switzerland, crushing.

Morocco very crisp and methodological. Brazil will have their chances. Rooting hard for Morocco. Fun fact: Morocco was the first nation to recognize the United States as a country. This isn’t why I’m rooting for Morocco, it’s just a fun fact.

I heard on the telecast that Morocco has a lot of players who weren’t born in Morocco.

Interesting. There’s also little St. Eustatius’ claim to fame:

treaty.[5]
The NetherlandsApril 19, 1782The first official acknowledgement of the sovereignty of the United States of America was on November 16, 1776, when the first foreign salute[6] was given to the American Flag. The gun salute was given to the vessel USS Andrew Doria in Fort Orange on the Dutch island of St. Eustatius.[7][8] This event is known as 'The First Salute

Brazil and Morocco a draw. Great match, really. Morocco had a great chance at the finish.
Morocco made the semi finals in 2022. However, the fact that there really wasn’t a gap between Brazil and Morocco tells me more about Brazil than about Morocco.
