If you're sincerely asking for a friend I'm sure if you ask politely Eyes would be happy to be your friend. When does the hammer drop? Asking for a friend.
No thanksIf you're sincerely asking for a friend I'm sure if you ask politely Eyes would be happy to be your friend.
Oof bad week for recruiting. Losing Britt to Mizzou was not surprising but losing Norman to NW and Johnson to MSU is no bueno…Caleb Johnson just committed to Michigan State..?
I guess the Crystal ball to Iowa didn't mean much.Caleb Johnson just committed to Michigan State..?
The sky is falling?Last year had 8 composite 4 stars, not sure what the problem is this cycle.
If we miss out on Kuhn we missed every priority target from the official visit weekend.
True, portal has replaced most of traditional recruting. Recruiting out of high school is still a crap shoot for the most partThe portal is largely replacing HS recruiting. Unless a guy is an absolute stud (which Iowa rarely gets) or has local connections, it is probably better to get guys out of the portal.
That’s why now missing out on guys isn’t as bad as it used to be. Like QB who went to Kentucky. Half these qb switch schools within 2 years especially if not playing by soph year. Last year Iowa didn’t get a rb in our recruiting class and we ended up with FCS leading rusher from South Dakota LJ Philips out of portal. The portal is largely replacing HS recruiting. Hard pass!If you're sincerely asking for a friend I'm sure if you ask politely Eyes would be happy to be your friend.
Your posts are stale.I’m sorry but Iowa football recruiting is so stale
Expecting good news next week. Patience grasshopper.Last year had 8 composite 4 stars, not sure what the problem is this cycle.

Mich state had a huge donation. Something like $40 millCaleb Johnson just committed to Michigan State..?
A school like Iowa will always need to have strong HS recruiting. Relying on the portal to bail out poor recruiting isn’t a recipe for success. The portal is largely replacing HS recruiting. MSU is an inferior school?Johnson to MSU. Something very strange is going on this cycle. We are missing out on everyone to inferior schools. What is going on?
Good thing the 2026 was great because this class appears to be very underwhelming as of now.
Their money is as green as OSU or mich or Iowa.MSU is an inferior school?
booklarnin' is optionalTheir money is as green as OSU or mich or Iowa.
I highly doubt most recruits care about academics or even program legacy these days.
NW might be the single exception in the BIG where the value of the diploma can compete with the value of the nil.
Inferior? No...wealthier? Yes
Wisky did have that great run and it all started in 10’. Fake punt trajectory of ours and their programs and flipped where they started to take the edge but one of the few recruits we had decommit and I think what if. When Melvin Gordon decommitted. I wonder with Iowa have our issues with rb injuries and he was a record setting rb. Losing most recruits isn’t a huge deal but having a guy committed then decommit and become a star those sting. This has long been a problem. It’s where Wisconsin was beating Iowa at their own game for over a decade. They kept land on their highly sought after RBs and we kept missing or the ones we did land ended up in trouble (Coker, Wegher).
Agree DuddyB. Throughout Kirk's tenure Iowa has been a developmental program, though others falsely claim to be so.A school like Iowa will always need to have strong HS recruiting. Relying on the portal to bail out poor recruiting isn’t a recipe for success.
I’ve been happy with the most recent year’s HS classes though, so I’ll reserve judgment on this until it’s done.
Can’t really predict who could swoop in at the last minute to offer a lot more cash.I guess the Crystal ball to Iowa didn't mean much.
True, and these are verbal commitments. No school can say absolutely that these prospects will be on the 2027 team because nothing gets signed until December- maybe later. Can’t really predict who could swoop in at the last minute to offer a lot more cash.
Based off what? Losing out on a handful of recruits?I’m sorry but Iowa football recruiting is so stale
The every offseason sky falling in Iowa City is as predictable as the imminent natty in Lincoln, Nebraska. The sky is falling?
One of many reasons why high school recruiting has become less important than filling positions of need via the portal.True, and these are verbal commitments. No school can say absolutely that these prospects will be on the 2027 team because nothing gets signed until December- maybe later.
Poaching commits has been going on since at least the 1950s, decades before paying players was allowed in the rules. It's nothing new at all.One of many reasons why high school recruiting has become less important than filling positions of need via the portal.
The offensive linemen we've been grabbing out of the portal have had a 100% BUST rate? Am I missing an OL that has portaled to us and significantly contributed? The portal is largely replacing HS recruiting. Unless a guy is an absolute stud (which Iowa rarely gets) or has local connections, it is probably better to get guys out of the portal.
They got 5 OL commits last year-3 of them 4 *The offensive linemen we've been grabbing out of the portal have had a 100% BUST rate? Am I missing an OL that has portaled to us and significantly contributed?
H.S. recruiting remains incredibly important.
The goal, obviously, is to do well in EVERY recruiting cycle. Especially if you're Iowa. They got 5 OL commits last year-3 of them 4 *
They have two tackle commits in this class.
The staff seems to be doing well on the OL front

Well fingers crossed on this one. I'm assuming Illinois, but who knows at this point.
