I thought this was smoke, but it certainly explains why the long wait. Boom!
He would be a big difference maker for recruiting and coaching. Could really solidify our staff. Lots of street cred too.
Why would you move across the country for a lame duck head coach?
He will mean jack in recruiting if pope gets canned like most think after the season. Hopefully he can actually coach basketball unlike the rest of our loser staff.
Me too. But it keeps popping up on the timeline like something actually may be happening. If Jamal wants to coach, you really can't start any better than starting at UK!

I agree. I think we'll be pretty good this season. Pope won't get fired with a top 20 team, if they do as well as I think they can.
His in-game coaching the first year was pretty darned good, before all the injuries. I think last season the pieces were such a bad fit, I'm not sure what he could do with that. Especially after losing his only PG. This year will show us a lot.
I agree for the most part. He coached his *** off in the Duke game. However, no good coach gets absolutely molested like we have in games. I mean Gonzaga all but raped us. They should have been charged for murder.
and I just can’t get over the recruiting. That’s half of coaching and he absolutely blows at it. I seriously think I could recruit better than him and I’ve never recruited a day in my life. Seems like Pope hasn’t either. Honestly, he hasn’t. He wasn’t even trying to recruit the players he is now at BYU because he knew he wouldn’t have a shot.
Didn't you get the memo? We love Pope again. Until he drops a couple in a row and Momcilovic is in a 6/22 slump then FARRRRR Pope/FARRRR Momo.
They can shove that memo where it came from. I have zero hope in Pope. If we make another sweet 16(plus 1 year extension), I will pull my hair out and I have a shaved head.

He would really help with the high school recruiting which is what has hurt Pope most. He could really turn that around.
Crawford is all but a lock at this point. The Hampton reclass not as much but I’ve already heard it will be discussed during his visit. I’m fine with him next year and not this year but said we can land him for this year I’m not turning him down!
I feel like there might be a little too much coaching overlap between him and Mo Williams, but it's definitely a household name hire.

Before Moreno announced he was coming back, the narrative was that Pope can't get a star player, our roster was severely lacking in shooting, and almost every other area... and that it was a fringe top 50 team and certainly a NCAA tournament BUST if Moreno (at least) did not come back.
One week later ...
Moreno is coming back. Jump UK expectations to be much more competitive : a top 25 - 30 feel for the roster....
Now we've got Momcilovic. Major star power, THE TOP portal addition possible for our team (in my book), and most everyone saying UK looks to be at least a top 15 team to start the season.
And now, Jamal Crawford possibly coming over to Pope's staff to join Williams ? That has to universally be seen as a HUGE get for the coachig staff. If there is going to be a future 4th season with Pope as coach, then I would say he has done admirably well in making some of the moves he needed to bolster his staff.
And the narrative for Kentucky has totally shifted from a failure (by our standards) to an acceptable roster and one that can potentially make some noise. Most people I'm seeing and hearing from and reading, say we look like a second weekend team in the NCAA tournament now.
A sweet sixteen or better ? From not even potentially making tournament ?
A big change, indeed, of the narrative that is Kentucky.

I could actually see Crawford coming because I don’t think even Pope is dumb enough to leave an assistant coaching position open for that long unless he knew he had his guy.
None of what I said means rainmaker knows jack ****. Because he doesn’t. He’s been wrong on everything. Literally. Everything.
Probably a Million plus for 8 9 months of work/play. Yeah sounds like a great way to pass the time to me. Jr can find a good school with a great basketball program and all is right in the world.
I would think we’d be around that top five preseason ranking with him added. He would give us some more quality depth for sure.
He already has a bag. He’s from the west. I can see him coming for sure, I just don’t know why he would do it other than having UK assistant on his resume.
