Pope(who is actually responsible for recruiting) is way worse for recruiting than fans commenting on message boards(who aren't responsible for recruiting), yet you only defend one and only attack the other.
Because I can read one. I know exactly what is said here. I've been here long enough that I remember family members coming here to defend players.
Nobody posting here has first hand knowledge of what happens in negotiations and recruiting. Everything you think you know is speculation built on the word of the same "insiders" who have been wrong about most of the outcomes they predicted.
I'm not defending anyone. I'm just pointing out that the negativity is driven by a mix of speculation and malice.

Folks have whifflash, but I just hope they figure something out and can close this deal out. A roster with Momcilovic is going to be better than what we'll have without him. You can take that to the bank.

If it turns out that we are being trolled again, this would be difficult to recover from. We've tied up tons of resources and missed out on other options. I don't think there's a ton left, but good talent evaluators can find under the radar guys.

The fact that that's where we are now is pretty tough to take.
If it does turn out that we were being trolled, Pope might just walk after the season's over, and I wouldn't want that to happen, but that's where we're going with how ugly social media is getting and how these kids just seem (in my eyes) more and more self-centered as the years go by. Being trolled again would also clown the University of Kentucky basketball program, terrible look. Future players with no desire to play for UK would jump at the opportunity to tease staff and taunt fans. It's ugly.

If you’re getting hurt by a kid you don’t know about their college decision, you really need to reflect internally. Everyone take a deep breath. There’s so much more to life. Appreciate it.

Exactly, i remember when we missed on Caleb Wilson and i had to take a step back and i stress a lot less about this stuff because there's nothing we can do

I told you not to drive the damn bus after that liquor store stop yesterday bruh.
Nah man I outsourced my Community Service. Hired some feller named Raj from Uber to drive the bus.

They got me for PI at Fill Ups. While the deputy was raining blows on me I tried to explain that Fillups is a private business not public but he apparently doesn't understand the constitution.

We have firsthand knowledge that Pope landed zero high school recruits inside the top-100 despite offering and getting visits from almost the entire top-20. We have firsthand knowledge that On3 (the site you use) predicted Stokes to Kentucky, Collins to Kentucky, and others. We have firsthand knowledge that Kentucky, as of now, does not have a top-10 portal class. We have firsthand knowledge that Kentucky is projected to be ranked somewhere between 20 and 40 in most preseason projections.

We have firsthand knowledge that the staff prioritized Wright and Freeman and landed neither. We have firsthand knowledge of national media members and agents saying that Pope doesn't know what he's doing. We have firsthand knowledge of a lot of things. I think at some point you should just stop using this site, no offense, if you don't trust On3, KSR, Kentucky media, national media etc. than at what point do you ask yourself "why am I using a site that I don't trust?" Your entire personality and way of discussing things with people is a fallacy. A false way of formulating and articulating arguments. "I don't believe anything that anybody is saying despite all of the evidence around it, unless I directly talk to pope or recruits." Not a legitimate way to reason.

It’s not your money. It’s not even the university’s money. Unlike Pope’s salary, it’s not coming from taxpayer money either. So honestly, who gives a single **** if some millionaire fans waste their pocket change? If Joe Craft chipped in $10 million to get him it would be one half of one percent of his net worth. That’s like if you had $500,000 and donated $2,500. It’s like Mitch Barnhart chipping in $5,000 of his nonsense $1 million a year golden parachute that he got denied and is probably hard at work finding a way to give himself anyway.

When it comes to athletes being paid, whether Joe Burrow, Shohei Ohtani or Tyran Stokes I ask myself two questions:

1. Is it my money?
2. Is there a real reason it should matter to me?

The answer to both is always no.

I've noticed that almost always those who DO care are agenda posters, so I ignore what they are saying.

Agree 1000%. America is full of old people looking for a reason to be angry.

"First hand knowledge that On3 predicted"!? So what? They were wrong.
None of what you call knowledge is anything more than the speculation of people you trust. They weren't in the negotiations, they don't know what was demanded, be it money or guaranteed playing time, role, starter, or the end price. They think they know. But why believe them? Their inside info is wrong more than right.
Then, when they make a bad prediction, it's Popes fault. They were right but he messed it up. And these pay site geniuses have no reason to lie. Their "insiders" aren't to blame.

I still think he is coming.

I also dont think he's gonna win us anything that the fans think matters.

I predict he gets Pope a 4th year. So the only real winners will be mom with the money and Pope for another year tacked on and a 4th year.

Dunno who this guy is but the thing always missing from these predictions is "and what if he doesn't". These mofos don't care, they can be wrong and still have engagement metrics through the roof with the storm of people that will swoop in to laugh at him.

There's no downside / financial hurt to this guy if his prediction is wrong.

NIL has caused all of this BS and is turning fans away from the game. It’s so ridiculous, it’s pay for play alright, the greed and the recruitment of these players get so expensive and wasteful. I used to donate small contributions to the football and basketball programs but I m done with that. None of these players are worth what they are getting to play college sports. The money will be there at the next level, if they make it. There might as well not be any team pictures anymore because the next year they might all be gone. The tradition and things that meant so much to you growing up are gone. College sports are gone forever, get ready for more reasons to not watch any of it, it’s coming.

The entirety of sports at UK is self funded. Zero tax dollars. Including coaches salary.

An Elite Eight would make us all very happy, IMO. MM would make us at least on par with Pope’s first team, but more athletic. An EE is not out of the question with him.

Then I’d say take anything that isn’t an official announcement with a grain of salt. I’m not hear to tell anyone how to fan, just sharing things as they come along.

I will say Elijah is putting a lot on the line with his posts. He isn’t a no-name guy anymore and his reputation is riding on these things right now.
I still enjoy reading it even if I don't put any stock into it. Thing with rep is nobody remembers this stuff. These insiders that are in vogue now have been wrong on a lot but people hang on their every word still. These guys got this business down to a T.

Just passing some time, but why does it feel like UK has been out of this recruiting race since yesterday’s 2pm “Zoom Call”?

Feeling more like an UofL versus AZ battle more than it does a UofL vs. UK one…

When it gets this quiet from the UK inside sources , it’s usually the calm before the Whiff Storm, unfortunately.

Sort of? It’s complicated. Technically Pope is state employee (hence his contract being public information) but that salary is a tiny fraction of his actual compensation. It’s more complicated now given the athletic department is being spun off.

I’m not bitching. The key thing is whatever we offer a recruit is 100% not coming from tax dollars.
