Spurs fan here. I try to get my two cents in occasionally, but the last several weeks of the season had most of us in hiding
Staying up was beyond critical for you guys. I don’t think they would’ve survived the stadium debt with even just 1 year in the championship

It would have sent them into administration. That would have been a points deduction at some point, a very good chance of a death or near death spiral. Think Rangers (the current Rangers is not the original club, it is a phoenix club. That one was a result of financial mismanagement) or Leeds respectively. Liverpool came VERY close to this under Gillette and Hicks, though without relegation to start it off (it would have occurred as a result of it). That was just gross financial mismanagement. Thank goodness for the English courts and FSG. FSG takes a lot of flak from certain quarters of our fanbase, but they have done an absolutely amazing job of putting the club in a sustainable business model that wins.

One more thing, Spurs ain’t out of the woods yet. There is some real mismanagement going on there. I hope they survive, they have always been a proper club. They ain’t the late Chelski or the current City. There are a few rumors starting to surface about City. I’ve seen a 50 point deduction for next year as one. That would have taken 90 points won this year to avoid relegation. They won 78 this season. Arsenal took 85.

If Spurs don’t fix their problems they’ll be right back here next year. And may not survive that time.

I’ll believe City get a significant penalty when I see it. They’ll probably dock them 10 points retroactive to this season.

Yep. Ange gets lauded as a genius for throwing away the Prem finishing 17th but winning the Europa league which has dramatically reduced in quality just for them to finish 17th again and somehow Frank was the problem

Yep pretty hilarious to watch from afar though
As long as the money get spent on Liverpool…. Trust me both fanbases are aware of every dime and pence. All signs point to another big transfer window for Liverpool. That was part of the problem last year, and it fits the mode of the Sox. Honestly I agree on Liverpool, we were getting really old. Need to get it right though. Once again, any Championship/Football Manger players here? You can learn a LOT from that game…..and not just for soccer.

I hope they spend a lot smarter this summer than they did last summer. For a club that made a reputation on smart transfer policy Liverpool completely screwed the porch last summer.

I’m not sure they did, other than persisting with both strikers. The priority has to be the back line this year.

I think part of the problem at Spurs was that Daniel Levy had injected himself into so many facets of the club that when he left, it was rudderless. I think we need to axe Lange and Vinai needs to be put on a very short leash. The Lewis family acts like they are ready to invest and bring in the talent needed to get back to the top of the table, but empty promises have been made before.

They did. Tried ti get some guys they really needed on the cheap & missed out on them. Then overspent wildly on players who just haven’t produced. Really bad luck with the Ekitike injury. And Wirtz has been ok. But Frimping & Isaak have been disasters.

And investing wildly without good evaluation & a good plan is just as bad as not investing at all. Spurs survived. But they better have a good plan for next year.

Isaak has been hurt, can’t label him for a disaster, ….yet. Same for Frimpong. Ekitike was basically ok, till he got hurt. Not sold on Writz, or any other German in comer. Here is the honest truth about Liverpool…. We peaked at the same time as City did over the last decade. They had way more money, and the results reflected that. We were amazing in what we won, given the disadvantages monetarily. We evidently have money to spend again. It needs to be spent at the back first and foremostly.

If we’d signed Guehi when we could have & not let Quanseh go, the back would be in a lot better shape than it is now. Both of those were just sheer stupidity. Isaak is always hurt. He’s a guy who looks great for a month then disappears for 3 months. Frimping has been injured but even when healthy he’s a guy who’s not good enough defensively for right back & not good enough going forward to play in midfield or replace Salah.

You are looking at Liverpool careers so far, and at guys who have left based on what might have been. Quansheh is not an EPL anchor at the back, not even close. Isaak was solid before he got to us. He will be again. Frimpong was a gambol, a right wing or a right back. Frimpong was
supposed to be the hybrid to fill that roll as required. Bradley was supposed to be THE guy. Next season is going to be worse, too many departures. The objective has to be getting into the Champions League again.

The priority has to be signing one or even two world class center backs. Virgil is getting old, and it looks like Konate is leaving. It’s been a fantastic run for Liverpool, one that would have undoubtedly been better if Manchester City had not cheated on a totally unprecedented scale.

Oh and a reply to the call for a summer transfer thread……why? The silly season is just that. It’s insanity on an industrial scale. I pay no attention to any of it except actual signings.

3 weeks after confirming he will be retained, Liverpool fired Slot today. Had to be done. He had lost the players & the fans. Looks like Bournemouth coach is the leading candidate. I think that would be a good hire.

He had lost the players, all of them. I've never really seen body language from an entire team like I saw at the end of the last game.

From a neutral perspective, an early Arsenal goal was the worst thing that could have happened in this game. They have and will park the bus the rest of the game.

Obviously I’m biased but I think it’s been a great final so far. Definitely the best since 2022 and probably 2016

Worst one I’ve ever watched, and I’ve been watching for over 30 years. In fact that’s one of the worst soccer games I’ve ever watched period.

Yes Englands best club over the last 4 years is where the trophy currently resides
Trophies the last four years:

EPL: Manchester City, Manchester City, Liverpool, Arsenal
FA Cup: Manchester City, Manchester United, Crystal Palace, Manchester City
League Cup: Manchester United, Liverpool, Newcastle United, Manchester City

England in Europe the last four years
Champion’s League: Manchester City
Europa League: Tottenham, Aston Villa
UEFA Conference League: West Ham, Chelsea, Crystal Palace

2nd place doesn’t count.
