what do you mean
I mean portal shopping and negotiation is not recruiting. Recruiting used to be relationship building, demonstrating and selling a plan, awe and prestige of program and/or coach. This is none of that. This is mostly auction. You think Bidunga dreamed of playing for Kelsey? LOL. UL is an adidas school, that may have been a factor for the KU transfer, and offered $5 million. If Pitino offered $4 million, you think Pitino out “recruits” Kelsey? People complaining about “recruiting” the portal are not paying attention.

Milan knew from the moment he exited the draft that there were only 3 - 5 teams in the race for him, realistically. Kentucky checks all the boxes and then some for him, as he does for us.

I expect that since Wednesday he and his agent are finalizing the deal and tying up all the loose ends he may have, and ironing out the announcement timing (soon, as in asap). More to this than what we know going on behind the scenes. It has the feel of being *very* close to done and a matter of time.

Let's stay quietly optimistic here. No reason we shouldn't be.

If true, this is great news. Absolutely no reason we shouldn't be outbidding 99% of other programs for players. Let everyone know that we are serious in this NIL era.

In a worst case scenario that this year is a disaster, then at least the next coach knows they have a nearly unlimited budget to work with at Kentucky.

Stringing us along to get more money from another school. Freeman, Collins, Stokes among others do not want to take chance on losing what draft stock they have playing for Pope

I never would have dreamed that NIL money would get this out of control this quickly. It’s insane.
I knew it was coming. I know a billionaire who wanted an elite youth player on his travel team, so he bought the parents a house and got them a good job. The kid was like 12 years old at the time. That's just one example. Doesn't surprise me at all that rich people will pay money to win.

We are serious as in…how much did you contribute to the NIL fund? You have to have the donors to “outbid” 99% of the other programs.

I believe UK had $8mil for Stokes. If Nike agreed to chip in for MM then they might have 8. I’m thinking $6mil is the number.
If Nike pitched in for Stokes, they better damn well pitch in for MilMom. Stokes may have a better ceiling for Nike, but their money needs to serve UK too. Pope stuck it out and gave Stokes a bunch more pub. Nike step up.

Why is there absolutely no reason? Other than "because we are Kentucky!"

Well, if it's 8 or 9 million dollars to get him fully on board ... then that certainly qualifies as "backing up to the bank " for him ! And it's cheaper than the package Hough got for Florida, and I'd rather have Milan personally.

if he hits 150 3 pointers this year, that's about 6 million @40,000$ per make ?

Sounds cool to me. Let's get her done ! We're getting a bargain ! ;)

I believe it and I understand why Pope would support it. He needs the recruiting win and has to worry about his job. The double edged sword is similar to last season though. You pay all this money for a team well then you better produce more than mediocre. So if any recruit can help and you are the coach why not spend it and it isn't out of his personal pocket.

I do believe MOMI is the best get portal or high school. What MOMI can do to defenses makes him irreplaceable.

Do you not realize he played in that type of conference last season also playing for a coach who emphasized that type of play
He had a team that moved well and passed the ball well. Drive the ball and swing to other side of floor for open shot. Uk doesn't do that. At times I'm not sure what we do

Ill tell you, as great as Stokes may be, I didn't give two squints when he signed with Kansas because of the prima donna the kid seemed to be. Losing Mom would sting big-time
