NW message boats agrees the 2 goals taken away on unc were iffy. Also agree Taylor on the line on last goal . To their credit
Exactly my thought…. I’m still shaking angryI was about to say that call that started their run felt exactly like the Villanova title game.
They were totally justifying both callsThe announcers acknowledged it every time, but then moved on. That is their job.
losing to AZ super regional after winning 18-2 was brutalFrankly, this loss and field hockey championship game hurt me more than men bball or basketball disappointments last year. I have found non revenue sports so refreshing and escape from bat guano crazy world of mens’a revenue sports with mercenary culture , obscene money, etc (ie -“I gambled on games but it was addiction so I deserve a 7th year”. )
Thanks for reminding me about that one.losing to AZ super regional after winning 18-2 was brutal
i think NW field hockey got us in the semis
UNC needed the breaks to beat NE in Chicago. At least even out breaks. We didn’t get breaks. NW did. End of story.NW message boats agrees the 2 goals taken away on unc were iffy. Also agree Taylor on the line on last goal . To their credit
So it has always been. So It shall always be.I'm so tired of incompetent/biased officiating determining the outcome of games across every sport.
I’m not a big zone fan but NW played it very well today and we got impatient while 3 seconds was pretty much ignored as officials think it’s a disservice to the game to call it too much, failing to implement the rules. And I’m not hoping UNC changes defensive philosophy and goes predominantly zone. Why we throwing the MVM under the bus? UNC had one of the best defenses in the country.
I think we will become harder to play over time as MVM becomes more rare and opponents do not practice it enough.
it also helps us in recruiting elite defenders.
Sad but true.So it has always been. So It shall always be.
As you can tell I much prefer the zone. So often against the zone there will be two or more defenders contesting. How many times in the 4th did we get trapped in the middle of the zone and have a turnover, too many. And the refs will let it get more physical as the game goes on. The Ladies playing this sport are so much faster, stronger and physical now that trying to stop them one on one is next to impossible. The slide creates unguarded players. Hey, just my opinion and I never played the sport. I also wonder how much running a man to man requires instead of a zone. Hey just one couch coach’s opinion. Why we throwing the MVM under the bus? UNC had one of the best defenses in the country.

Not really. The more egregious overturn gave them a 2 minute penalty man up which sealed the game. Not to mention the last goal clearly shouldn’t have countedNW beat us twice; they’re the better team.
Those goals don’t get overturned we still lose by one goal.
I completely agree about the lack of accountability for officials being frustrating.Sad but true.
The most frustrating part is that nothing is ever done about it. Everyone is forced to accept the bogus outcome and move on while the officials are accountable to no one. I'm sure we'll see those same officials in the postseason again next year as if nothing happened.

my bet is the NW coaches whines about so many 3 seconds calls in prior game fwiw. Officials responded. There were countless bad calls today, mostly against UNC imo, and the TWO goal reversals DID change the game without merit imo, but one has to credit NW’s zone and keeper play, in conjunction with our hi-to-hi shooting habit and questionable keeper success, giving NW credit for being good and, in the books now, emerging with the title. I’m sick with it, yes, love our kids’ fight and great season, and look forward to winning next year again.
The bogus penalty led to a power play that NW scored on. Also the NW player's foot was clearly inside the crease ON THE SHOT on the last goal. Bad calls were a 4 goal swing.NW beat us twice; they’re the better team.
Those goals don’t get overturned we still lose by one goal.
Not necessarily. Every call affects a game and strategy changes. Had we scored tge goals we're ahead, NW changes tactics then. Etc.NW beat us twice; they’re the better team.
Those goals don’t get overturned we still lose by one goal.
We have a lot of sophomores doing most of our damage, and NW had a lot of seniorsI have to admit. This one does stink because NW just beat us in Field Hockey and in Lacrosse.
BingoHow about the momentum killed by the disallowed goal. Would have been up 3 and rolling…
As others have already stated in greater detail, that's not how sports work.NW beat us twice; they’re the better team.
Those goals don’t get overturned we still lose by one goal.
Yes, they did early in the game. I don’t remember much of the second half.NW played a lot of M2M
Not the same game. Cant disagree more.NW beat us twice; they’re the better team.
Those goals don’t get overturned we still lose by one goal.
It’s almost like we never recovered from the national anthem. :0You could see where the game was going when NW girl flopped for a "charge" right in front of the goal.
That charge call would've made a dookie a blush.
She's still gonna win the Tewaaraton though^ notice who is missing?
That was a game changer. How about the momentum killed by the disallowed goal. Would have been up 3 and rolling…
They will get championship rings for their contribution to the win.NW needs to invite those refs to their title celebration. It wouldn't be polite without them there.
