The "lack of sleep" thing is and old wives tale when you are talking about 20 year olds.

If you like what you are doing the next day, the sleep part doesn't matter. We used to go out, drink all night, try to nail some beaver, come home, eat some fast food and get to bed around 1am...then get up a 5:45 for a 7am tee time and be drinking again on the ride to the course
Science would say that everybody’s memory of how great they were functioning on little sleep as 20 year old gods was a joke:

Excerpt:
Insufficient sleep leads to declines in strength, power, endurance, and cognitive function and is also linked to higher rates of injury in young athletes. Additionally, inadequate sleep negatively affects mental health and regenerative capacity [5].

I guess you are right...if a 20 year old D1 player only gets hours of sleep instead of 8 he will no longer be able to function and will die.

Not the biggest college baseball fan, but after watching Nebraska last night I got involved in these regionals. Was hoping for a competitive game tonight. What I have concluded is that I hate Oregon even more. That starting pitcher they had tonight annoyed the hell out of me. Hope UCLA pounds the fk out of them.

Playing twice in one day still would've been better than playing so late
They showed very little emotion and had no mojo.

Line drive double with no outs with man on 2nd was a game killer not executing a bunt was another tough one to take.

But Oregon hit 8 HR yesterday taking advantage of the shorter corner fields.
