umm, k-state still lovin' on frank martin. the epitome of meh. so N's not the only fanbase.
You would know better than me, especially how his antics during games and towards KSU fans were.

But looking at Frank Martin's time at KSU.... Made the dance 4 out of 5 years. Each time, got past the 1st Round and even made the Elite 8 one time.

Heck of a lot better than anything Bo ever accomplished while at Nebraska.

Yeah, I hated beating back to back ranked Mizzo and Okie State. I hated beating Ohio State and Michigan. It sucked playing in back to back conference championship games. It sucked beating the **** out of Minny and MSU.

I know I know...Wisconsin beat him. Wisconsin is done.

I know, I know...he could not recruit...Rex, Ameer, RG, David, All those bad *** JC DB's.
The fact that Stalin is the worst doesn't mean the Czar wasn't bad.

most all frank martin's k-state accomplishments were with players recruited by bob huggins and that staff. after ksu frank went to usc,e and failed finishing 77-99 in sec play. he's now is 31-37 in the mid-american conference at umass.

colorado football is picked at the b12 bottom this year.

Yeah but didn't Martin also make a FF at South Carolina?

Huggins recruited six years' worth of players during the one year he spent at K-State?

That sure was nice of him.

He also went 74-30 in his final three years at K-State, with players that Huggins evidently recurited when they were high school freshmen.
I did not know that...that is also really impressive.

I also think people don't understand that Martin was a bad *** recruiter for Huggy.

Or they do understand that, but they are just butthurt over the fact that every decent BB coach K-State has landed since Jack Hartman has treated it as a stepping stone to a better job.

delonte hill was huggins and martin's recruiter. he had ties to baltimore aau hoops through aau coach curtis malone. hill brought beasley and many others to frank martin's squad. when hill left for maryland and with it the baltimore connection, martin's classes started declining. his last class had but one of four youngsters who stayed four years.

Malone ran the AAU program that funneled Beasley, Dominique Sutton, Jamar Samuels, Rodney McGruder and Wally Judge to Manhattan.

When Huggins hired Hill to join his K-State staff, Beasley followed. When Huggins left and Martin was named head coach, Beasley decided to stay once Hill was promoted to associate head coach and made the highest-paid assistant in the country.

On March 31, 2012, Bruce Weber was announced as head coach after Frank Martin left for South Carolina. During the 2012–2013 season, Weber's first in Manhattan, Kansas State won its first regular season conference title since 1977 and advanced to the NCAA tournament.

And yet, the roster that Bruce Weber won a conference championship with in 2012-13 looks almost exactly like Martin's final K-State roster the year before. What are the dutiful K-Stater talking points that explain away that turn of events?

his recruiting took a dive as his tenure moved along. and he was not good at Xs and Os. brad underwood stepped in to save him on offense. when underwood left south carolina, frank's program plummeted.

but you're quite right, it took bruce weber to win with frank's recruits. martin won nothing meaningful. took a preason #3 nationally to 4th place in the b12. weber's best player that first year was one of hill's balitmore connections - then-senior rodney mcgruder. weber won a couple b12 c'ships.

And there you have it - the purple kool-aid talking points that were as predictable as night following day.

Right on schedule.

He didn't like them, actually hated them would be the better description.
He didn’t like the fans that booed Taylor Martinez as he walked off the field at half time. A game we came back and won the second half. When asked about the fans booing at half time he said “Frick the fans.” Our whinny little fan base got all sensitive and cried because they got called out. Bo ho. Go find yourself a safe space because you aren’t getting one here.

That's true, but most people who are making millions a year only ***** about their customers to their wife, unlike Bo who had zero filter:

"Our crowd. What a bunch of ******* fair-weather *******—they can all kiss my *** out the ******* door. 'Cause the day is ******* coming now. We'll see what they can do when I'm ******* gone. I'm so ******* pissed off "
Well maybe he was right. We are finding out what we can do after he’s gone.

Bo and Carl both treated me very well and were easy to work.with on a project. I know several players who played for them that absolutely loved them- fiercely loyal because Bo loved them and had their back.

However the lack of self awareness was awful when it came to turning the players against the fans. Bo was a train wreck on many game days and it didn’t help the team or the University.

Bo loves football and coaching kids- but his thin skin and inability to self control just doesn’t lend itself to being gainfully employed over the long haul. He needed to go and I like him for the most part.

Today’s equation just isn’t a good fit for Bo Pelini
The reason Bo was a train wreck was because the university stopped maintaining the train track.

You do know Bo had a better record his last 3 years than he did his first 3 years. And that included moving to a new conference and working under the piece of crap ad his last 2 years.

Not really. He had 29 wins his first 3 years and 28 his last 3 years. There were also some really bad losses in there. And those first 3 years includes his first year, which most coaches take a year to get their system in place.

I do agree the new conference and AD didn't do him any favors, though.

But, regardless of how you want to look at it, his stock was falling, not rising. And he was pissing a lot of people off in the process.

And it's been argued to death, but look no further than his career after NU for definitive proof.

You mean...making an FCS title game and then getting paid 2 million dollars to coach at LSU for a year...and then never having to work again?

Sign me up for being that kind of loser.

But really, the only proof in coaching is wins and losses.

No, I mean...coaching an FCS team to a 33–28 record and getting them put on probation for recruiting violations...and then getting one last shot as an FBS coordinator but your defense gave up a one game SEC passing yard record and a 3 game school scoring record...and then getting fired after just one year...all while acting like you've won multiple FBS Championships...and then never getting to work again because everyone in football knows your performance has fallen to the levels of your attitude.

Again...Super Bowl Ring...National Championship Ring. Never less than 9 wins a year at NU...FCS title game (Maybe they won it, who cares it is not real football at that level anyway)...Cashed huge checks.

I HOPE I am that lame in life. I pray for that kind of thing.

My guess is that if you offered that deal to every guy that was starting out in coaching...they would all take it.
