I really like Freeman, I think he would be great for us, but I'd be lying if I said I wasn't worried about his past injuries being concern.
Pope caught hell the second Lowe went down. If Freeman misses any games due to injury, this place will be littered with "I told you so" posts from dudes that badly wanted Pope to get him.

Have to run the risk now. Should’ve just took Ransik imo

This is when you gotta start playing hardball if you’re Pope and Co

“Mr. Freeman, we need a decision by 10pm from you, any time past that, we will still pursue you, but your NIL decreases by X amount. No hard feelings, we just need to make sure all parties involved are being allowed proper time to make the decisions best for them”

Pope doesn't have the street cred to play hardball

I know cognitively that NIL has changed the landscape completely. And if and when any of these players end up choosing Kentucky I will support them 100%. But it still just boggles my mind that a player could have the opportunity to play at the University of Kentucky as a starter - making a **** ton of money - and not jump on that. So while my head understands, my gut questions this kid lol

I understand and agree with that. But at a certain point, you gotta draw a line in the sand for these recruits and transfers to understand “hey, you’re gonna have a short window to accept this offer that’s 10-20% more than the next best”.

That’s the way we make having the most money benefit us the most. This is not a willy nilly offer, it’s real, but you better act fast and not miss it.

I’d be less specific and not make it feel like punishment. “This is our offer today. Can’t promise it will be the same next week as we are pursuing multiple players and may no longer have as much in our NIL budget when you actually make a decision.”

And then Freeman signs with another team and RR destroys Pope

Either way, that’s a good one as well. Different path looking for the same result.

Just hate the thought of these offers just floating out there.

I work in pretty high end sales, and I actually take great pride in a client coming back to me 2 weeks later wanting to book a quote…”yea sorry man, that was 2 weeks ago. Here’s what I can do now” 🤣

I wouldn't. I didn't see Lowe as a high value recruit (others did -- I hated his game). Freeman is valuable enough to take the risk (kind of like Quaintance). Just don't overpay out the *** (I'm talking over 150% market value)and make yourself and the program look like idiots, and it's fine to go for it.

I would like the addition of Freeman as well -- we need guys like that to field a "UK caliber" team.

Pope coulf have had Rancik yesterday but held off.
That's twice bc the staff could have landed Jeremiah Wilkerson. He's got some offense. Hopefully, the staff knows ultimate fit.

Both Rancik and Wilkerson are usually guys you want on a roster, so hopefully that means we're gonna be better than I expect. Pope turning guys away!!!

With Stokes we're top 15-20.
Let's not kid ourselves. There's other teams bringing back significant production and great additions from portal/freshmen.
As much as it frustrates me, we might not even be top 3 in the SEC even if we pulled Freeman and Stokes. I admit there is a lot going against CMP right now, even if he manages to get the portal and recruiting right.
