Thanks VH.

Incredibly stupid government bureaucracy ruined the Alaska deal.

He needed a Commercial Drivers License to be hired, which he has. But when the Interior Department HR went over the paperwork with a fine-toothed comb, they decided he needed a CDL ISSUED IN ALASKA not in Texas. That was nonsensical, but it required reissuing the job solicitation and starting over with different wording not specifying where the CDL was issued.

So he moved on to what I think will be a better job, near Durango. I pipelined out there and it is beautiful country -- at least in the late 1970s. So, it ended well.
Outside its politics, I love CO - & UT.

Just WHEW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Finished them!!! Yeah, gotta pay but expected that.

After tomorrow, good or bad should lessen my office work (Nothing to do with taxes.) and allow me to start working around the house doing some "real" labor. (Got to first clean and paint the garage.) (Have to do that to gear up to paint the rest of the house. Our home is "only" three years old but I doubt they used five gallons of paint to paint the entire 2200+ square feet. Plus, My darling wants the house painted so............

I think Thursday if it works out though we are going to go and drop a few lines into the Yorktown, VA waters to see what we can come up with. It is a needed diversion for both of us...

Have a peaceful rest of your evenings!

Good morning folks. Out for a quiet pre-dawn walk. It’s a beautiful morning.

Dad had to go back into the hospital last night. I could tell he was running down while I was there but he fought it until he couldn’t anymore.

Pneumonia on top of the bladder issues. But actually the doctors think it can be turned around with antibiotics. At 95, there are no sure things.

Heading into work. Have a great day.

Hello All,

I am just settling down some after a seriously hectic (Mentally) day. I have to say though, there is hope!

What I went through today was good stuff. We shall see the outcome in a month or so BUT, with what transpired today I cannot help but feel positive. For that I am thankful!!!

Also been cutting Bamboo today with My Darling. She is a gardener's gardener and had some specific usage of Bamboo in mind. Who am I to even try to out-think her. (Seriously) So I caved and responded as asked. A friend of My Darlings house back area has an abundant amount of Bamboo minus 13 or so sticks of it now... (They both marveled at how easily I cut it down with a hand saw... (Only need the right kind and I happened to have it.) Also, I needed the exercise! (Worked up a serious sweat too and that is great.)

Anyway, I am seriously looking forward to tomorrow, simply because I do not expect much paperwork or items I must complete for our continued living. I am truly thankful.. (May actually watch a John Wayne movie tonight if the Lord doessn't take me home...)

I will stop typing but this day has been a day that the Lord has made and I am glad in it! God Bless you all and your family's...

Good morning everyone.

We finally got a commitment. I was really wanting Rob Wright, but guess he was just using us to get more from BYU. Seems like a theme.

Heading back down to the lake for a week or so for some fishing and turkey hunting. Hopefully by the time I get back home and on this site we'll have a team with a star or two.

Enjoy your day everyone.

As I'm wont to do, was watching Antiques Roadshow a few nights back. From Santa Fe - love SW landscape & art. By chance, they had a guy with a Turners target rifle from late-1850s made in Cincinnati. Worth $4-6K. Evaluator was impressed and knew what it was immediately.

What are Turners you say? German-American society promoting athletics and health. Brought here in 1820's. They and most all German immigrants of the period were very pro-Union. Several German-based regiments were formed that gave orders and troop battlefield movement directions in German. Many Turners had their rifles re-bored for Army use (The one shown had its original target bore.). Famed German regiments are the 9th OH (also 1st German Regiment - Cincinnati) and 17th MO (St. Louis). A gr-gr-grandfather of mine was in the 28th OH (2nd OH German Regiment - Cincinnati). He was shot thru the head on a battlefield in VA. Buried in a nearby national cemetery.

There is still a functioning Turners Club in Covington on Pike Street. They at least used to have Rat Races on the Friday night before the Derby to raise funds. Went 2-3x. Sponsor various youth sports teams.

Hello All,

I am still in the busy mode BUT, not so much the paperwork mode now, just checking for results regularly.

Been with My Darling most of today so far and still are together BUT (again), I am heading to the garage to see if the mud I bought when we moved here is still usable. My first mission in the garage is to prepare the walls for painting.... We shall see.... I am thankful! (Thought we might be fishing today but that didn't work out...)

Have a day today that will cause you and those you love; satisfaction.

Hello (again),

My supper today (Just finished)

If you all EVER get a chance, try Chuck Eye steak. (You will not regret it.) (A good price as well in comparison.) (I rather Chuck Eye than any brand I have tried. It is pleasing to eat.) Just cooked with a little salt on this one along with some side items but this is what was on my plate... (I ate it!)

That steak cuts with a fork mostly but one swipe with a knife does the rest... Ten---Der...

HAHA, may not even tell you about the Chuck Eye steaks if you lived near me... Too good of a secret. Still hard to come by, I have to smooze the meat departments some to get what we like (Even on post) BUT, it is worth it...

I never was much for dressings, I like veggies though...

Some other side items as well but they wouldn't fit until I lessened the contents of my plate... ;)

Been working on my garage walls (One wall anyway, heading back out now...) Have a restful evening...

Good morning folks. It’s a warm day in the east.

Challenging work day. But I have tickets for my son and I to go to the Nats Vs Giants game after that.

I’m hoping somewhere along the way the Cats get a commit or two —somebodies not anybodies.

You all have a good day.

Morning Legionnaires!

68° this morning with light winds.

Busy day today. Monster walk, workout, house cleaning this morning. Grass cutting and privacy fence mending this afternoon. Must get that done today, have a co-ed softball tournament tomorrow in Wichita Falls Tx starting at 8am and then regular league co-ed games Sunday afternoon.

Did some light sparring (controlled contact) with one of our teenaged black belts last night. He is about my height but not my weight so he was a bit intimidated. However, he got a couple good punches and kicks in. One made me expel a little air which he apologized for. I told him not to apologize as that will happen even in light sparring. Going to start sparring more as it helps with my reflexes (blocking kicks and punches) for playing softball (catching line drives hit at me). As the pitcher, I am the closest player to the batter and balls come back pretty quick these days. I do where a mask just in case.

TGIF folks so go get em!

God Bless.

For a couple of years, they went with unlimited arch in slow pitch. I liked that because it increased the value of defense. I normally played third base, but our pitcher would beg me to trade with him if we played a weak team. In those days, some pitchers would back up several steps while the ball was in the air. I tried that, but if I backed up over a couple of steps, I found myself on my heels instead of on my toes. I didn't like that.

Hello All,

My Darling and I are heading out soon. I have already been out taking the BB to school, then stopping at his Mom's and breaking down some furniture boxes for pickup cleaning out her garage.

Checked all my activities I am engaged in online to ensure no responses are required.

Heading to the Quantico Marine Base Comissary now and then into Springfield to shop at some Asian markets then on to turn in our rental and pick up our car. (They called this morning telling me it was ready, we shall see.)

Then back to my garage if time spackling and sanding...

Then pick up the BB...

A day in the life, I am thankful!!!

I DO though, hope your days are "less" busy. ;)

I played a few years of unlimited arch, and it was my favorite. I could bring rain with that thing and yes, it gave me some time to back up and play defense better. After that they went 6-12ft which was still pretty good but now, it is USSSA which is practically flat or NSA which goes 6-10ft.

With the high arch, hitters would hit those little dribblers where the 3B would have to come in with a barehand catch and throw on the run. I loved that play.

Morning D-Legionnaires!

Mid 40's this morning with moderate (20-25mph) winds making it colder. Similar conditions in Wichita Falls, TX. where I will be playing the co-ed tourney. First game at 0800 with temps around 50. Wind chill keeping it in the low 40's. Leaving my house at about 6:15 and 6:30. Takes me about an hour to get there.

Reds won last night as did the BatCats so... good start to the weekend.

You folks enjoy your day, and prayers sent to the Father for those who are needing it. (We all need it, but you know the folks who really need it right now)

God Bless and be safe today.

Good morning folks.

Went to the Nationals-Giants game last night. Good to spend time with my son before heads west.

Heading out for a run, then driving up into the Blue Ridge mountains to hike a bit.

Man, I wish the Cats could lock in some players. I still think it’ll all work out. You all have a good day.

Good morning from ATX. 71°F and cloudy.

Daughter visiting. We hiked to Santorini Cafe yesterday for Calamari and lamb gyros. Awesome. Good visit so far. Headed down by UTexas campus later today for souvenirs.

Off next week. Plan on straightening up around here some. Couple appointments.

Y'all take care.

The Giants have a former Cardinal named Harrison Bader who I really liked, but every time he got a hot streak, he would get injured. He finally had an injury free year last year with the Phils and got a nice contract wth the Giants. He got hurt in sprig training and is back on the injured list.

Hello All,

A leisurely morning, waiting on the BBs Mom to pick him up for his soccer game we plan to attend, then straight to the Little BBs baseball game…

It seems I lost a battle yesterday and I doubt I will even respond. It was a chunk but not sure being involved in filth is worth it.

Still have other much more consequential battles coming and those I am on a much better foundation. (The above was a court case.) I’ve never been involved in one of those before except for a few times as an expert witness where I had no involvement in the outcome.

Plan to try again to work on my garage after the games.

In any event I am thankful.

I hope the Cats can get some good going soon.

Enjoy this day and the good it will bring you.

Played 3 games today and was then out of the Co-ed tournament. Single elimination. Lost 3rd one. Hit fairly well considering I went 0-4 in the first game. Had to use bats provided by the tournament because it was tournament promoting the company/bats. Short Porch bats. All of the bats were lighter than what I swing. Most people swing lighter bats, but I am old school and like heavier bats so I had to adjust to the lighter bats and got on base whether with a walk or a hit 8 out of the next 10 at bats in the next two games so... I salvaged my day.

Tired though and I will be hitting the hay soon as I have 2 games tomorrow in our Co-Ed league in Lawton.

Good morning All,

Sitting outside my church drinking coffee. Dropped My Darling off for chior practice…

A big weather change from the last week or so… Windy too. 55…

Planned on working in the garage later as I never touched it yesterday. My youngest is supposed to have friends at her house today to barbecue. (She’s had a new grill for a year and never used it but called Dad to make sure it works…)

First thing, … Did you fill up your tank? Huh? …. I happened to have an old empty gas tank in my garage…. Off to Walmart… “We’re out. To Lowe’s, yep. A nice grill now.

Enjoy this Lord’s Day… God Bless you all and your families….

Good morning folks.

Cold and blustery today. I got a run in before the rain that is apparently coming soon.

Got some bad news from my sister yesterday: Dad has taken a sharp turn for the worse since I was there last week. After I left Monday he went back into the hospital, but they weren't able to do much for him, and he's home now with hospice care. I'll head back in a few days to check myself, but his time appears to be nearing an end.

Glad to have my son home at this time. I hope all is well with you all.

A little sore this morning but ok. Feel blessed however to still be able to play. Will be playing 2 league games today at 1 and 4. Overheard part of a conversation between the coach of the team I was playing with in yesterday's tournament and a teammate of mine from our regular team. Heard my teammate say to the coach of the one we were playing with. "No, he won't join your team in league play because he is loyal to the Tailgaters' which is our league team. Made feel good to know I was still good enough that other people want me to play for them.

LSU/Kiffin sure putting out the NIL bucks per this site. 50% more than next highest team and 4x/player recruited than UK. OTOH, LV's recruiting rated right near ours at half our cost. We'll see.

Morning D-Legionnaires!

46° this morning with light winds and a high of 72 expected for the day.

Tired this morning. Played 3 games Saturday and 2 league games yesterday. Yesterday's games were opposites. The first game we won a lot of runs to none (don't remember the end score). Game was ended by the start of the 3rd inning. Second game was against a team called Warpath which of course has mostly native Americans or spouses and is considered the best team in the league. They are good no doubt because they have won a couple of preseason tournaments and placed second in the tournament we played in Wichita Falls Tx. this past weekend. Now, my team did not play in that tournament, but me and a couple of my teammates joined another team (The Alcoballics) and played but did not place.

We beat them (Warpath) 10-9 yesterday in a pretty good game in league play so... our chances just increased to take the league title again this year for the third year in a row. They did not play league games the past few years as they only played tournaments.

Well, @AustinTXCat grind out a few more of these Mondays and take a long breather. The rest who are still grinding... be careful out there and God Bless.

Good morning folks.

My father passed away yesterday afternoon.
He’d been in a lot of physical pain, and emotional turmoil since my mother died almost exactly two years ago. So we were happy to see that end.

He was a man of strong faith. He died believing he was going to rejoin the woman he’d loved for more than 70 years, so it is a comfort for us, and it eases the pain of not having him anymore to think of them together.

Thanks for all the thoughts and prayers as this has unfolded.
