Good morning folks.

My father passed away yesterday afternoon.
He’d been in a lot of physical pain, and emotional turmoil since my mother died almost exactly two years ago. So we were happy to see that end.

He was a man of strong faith. He died believing he was going to rejoin the woman he’d loved for more than 70 years, so it is a comfort for us, and it eases the pain of not having him anymore to think of them together.

Thanks for all the thoughts and prayers as this has unfolded.
My sincere condolences to you and family. Prayers sent.

Afternoon D, I have had some good luck detecting so far, been out three times this year and I have found 5 mercury dimes and the only half dollar so far. Somebody needs to start a RR hot line, charge 2.99 a minute, just convince them that the sun will come up tomorrow, what a crap show!!!

Good morning everyone

I've been down to the lake for a week and just getting back. Caught some fish, no turkey and got a lot of work done. My brother kept me somewhat up to speed on the BB roster. Some good, some bad.

@MdWIldcat55 So sorry to hear about your father's passing. Prayers for you during this time.

What's going on with the Reds while I was gone. In the lead in the Central and tied for the lead in wins for the entire league.

Have a great day everyone. I slept the best I have had in a long time last night and I feel like I should go back to bed right now. Tired from my trip to the lake. I'm doing it wrong.

Hello all,

Just able to sit at my computer. Been stupid at it since 0630... Had my DC VA appointment this morning. Had three actual appointments. The only one that came off on time/ schedule was my MRI (Back) to verify my issues. Having been in this type leadership environment, the DC VA changed leadership several months ago and not for the better. My appts were 0800, 0830, and 1000. I actually saw "my" doctor at 0945, had my MRI at 1000, dropped a pint due to my too much iron issue. (Yeah, I be sta-wrong!) at 1115 or so (Takes me about 7 minutes to drop a pint.)

(The new guy/ nurse had his jaw dropped when I told him, then performed at almost to the second 7 minutes. (I've only been dropping a pint every three months since about 2002.) (The only appointment I NEVER have missed.) I enjoy people in any event and it helped having a decent nurse this go-round.) Had to have a blood test too and did that after the fact (The other arm.) Left the joint about 1230.

THEN, sold my 2012 Mazda today and got a good price (Was over an hour late to my own home but My Darling entertained them.). (The man and his wife paid us cash after they checked it out thouroughly.) (Getting the car for his son's baby's Mom who they are helping out due to his son not owning up to his duties. (Some Godly people and touched me deeply.) We are a one car family for now. (I cannot type all I did today but you get the picture.) Just got home from picking up the BB from Choir practice. (Bought My Darling and me Subway as well...) My Darling is at chior practice now...

Several other items but I will stop.... I am thankful..

You all have a restful evening and I do hope UK rights the ship and soon.... I actually need UK Basketball....

With enough Wild Turkey, you can do almost anything, or at least think you can.😁

Speaking of Wild Turkey Sir, I need a Yuengling... Since I no longer own a car. I can swing it without worry. (My Darling is about 1500 feet down the street at choir practice and she's driving. The BB's Mom already picked him up. (I don't drink in front of him.) Lot of good that did my son for near twenty years. That boy just recently realized whiskey and beer do not have to be drank together... (I am too thankful it seems that boy, 41 now.. seems to have conquered that area of his life.)

I would love a good cold beer, but I can't. After Viet Nam, I had a lot of bad memories, so I was a drunk for ten years. Can't let it happen again.

My Dad never could conquer alcohol Sir. It was his downfall. He did seem to quit late in life but it was only a few months of sober before he passed. (My Dad had six brothers of which he was the youngest, the seventh son. All his brothers except one died tragic deaths in some way due to alcohol.) My brother and I kicked that habit some way as my brother is a retired corporate jet pilot and actually flew President Reagan at some point when he was first campaigning.) (Not sure of the exact particulars.)

My brother drinks regularly but he has a good wife (Sis) that I think always kept him in check and still does.

I have always been scared of picking up the habit and while in the Army four years I seriously drank my share (Too much of my share as it is a wonder I or someone else was not killed because of me.) I got scared though of becoming my Dad in that respect and quit cold turkey for decades after I married. I never wanted to be a bad example or an example that hurt my kids.)

HA, I can post this now and will as it is forty or more years old and the pictures age will protect the innocent. I am not sure where I got the suit at but I had one it seems. This was on Fort Bragg or near Fort Bragg somewhere... These two guys were friends I am still lucky to stay in contact with. I am the goofy one... We were all lit.

I do not and would not pretend to even be in the realm of seriousness you stayed in.. (Not even trying to compare.)

Just a light-hearted post where these three Dave-Greg-Dave were drunker than monkies on Saki......

This one in my barracks... 319th MI BN, 525 MI GP, XVIII Airborne Corp. Fort Bragg... (yeah, I was soused.)

Been there, done that, got the T-Shirt on a Delta fight between Frankfurt and DFW back in '96. Even other passengers several rows up were screaming at me. Woke on a stretcher at DFW with IV in my arm. "Holy crap, we crashed. I knew it. No wonder my head hurts so much."

Wild Turkey = no joke.

Morning D-Legionnaires!

68° with a high in the mid to high 80's expected for the day. Winds (almost always) in the mid-thirties.

One of my brothers probably owns stock in Wild Turkey. Well, at least he should have. I believe he has slowed it down a bit but, I am not sure.

Reds lost yesterday but still lead in the NL Central.

Go out and get it today folks and be safe.

God is waiting with open arms and blessings. Take it.

Hello All,

Took the BB to school after my daughter dropped him off at 6. (He starts at 9 but my daughter starts work at 0630 so...) We have a fine time..

Leaving shortly with My Darling to go pick some "stuff" My Darling likes in the fairfax county area near one of our other houses.

Then will be picking up a water bottle I bought the BB online. He said; "Papa if you pick up my water bottle today please bring it with you when you pick me up..". (If the Lord doesn't take me home....DONE.)

Ha, I mentioned my Dad and his brothers yesterday...

I will post these pictures (My have at some point earlier but I looked them up..)

Never met my Grandpa Sterl. Only met one of my Uncles (Fred I think brother ATXC may have met or seen. (Virgil's Dad.)

These pics as I am told were taken out on the Y in Middlesboro before I was born... (I think 1956 or so...) (I came along in 61.)

This is my Grandpa on my Mom's side... I tried saving him when I was home on leave visiting but could not. (Grandpa Lewis (My middle name) was always trying to look like he worked in the coal mines but as I am told he never really did. I had that carbide lamp and loved it but it got away from me somehow during my time in the Army. (Worked well. I loved popping it off to light it.)

Anyway, I will overdo it again some time. Enjoy your days and bring some joy to someone...

Good morning folks.

Heading back to Maryland in a couple hours.

Dad’s funeral service was sad but also very touching. People showed up I hadn’t seen in 50 years. One of his old pipelining buddies came who was on a job dad got me hired on when I was a junior in high school —and he remembered me, and how green I was. Heard lots of nice things said about dad. A couple guys showed up who were on knothole baseball teams he coached, and guys who played high school basketball with me or my brothers.

Of course lots of people came from the small church we’d attended since 1962, including one of the daughters of the man who was the preacher back then. By the end, we were all lifted by the sincere expressions of regards, and assurances he was with mom.

Thanks again to you folks for you kind expressions of support.

Hello All,

At it again, nearing being ready for the second wave today. Yesterday I started at the crack of dawn and ended after showering getting in the bed with the light off and not realizing how bruised the area was where I dropped a pint Wednesday until this morning. The nurse needs some training. Needles don't hurt me much so...

My Darling and I are hitting the door shortly to run around a bit before we go pick up the BB. (I ordered his favorite stuff so all good as long as we pick it up...)

He got his water cup yesterday and was styling this morning taking it to school... (Was going to post a picture of him to as he was happy but thought better of it and am posting a pic that only shows part of his face...

Enjoy your days and get excited at some point, just to keep your blood flowing...

The BB...

He took this picture himself... The boy loves his phones but is very active in sports too.. (Ha, holding the mug with his chin while taking the pic...)

Edit: Me and My Darling hitting the woods yesterday in Fairfax County (Lorton) VA...

Good morning folks.

Back in my own bed in Maryland and got a (semi) good night’s sleep.

My son stayed over in Kentucky to hang out with with his cousins, and was at the wild walk-off win by the Reds.

Intrigued by the African 22-year old Pope signed. He looks good on video but you can never really tell about guys playing in Euro leagues. Jelavic looked like Jokic in some of the clips I saw.

I hope you all have a good weekend.

Good morning everyone.

I skipped getting up early to turkey hunt and slept like a baby. Hunting is just not the same any more since my wife doesn't go due to the Alpha Gal from the tick bite. Went on a big group hike yesterday with about 50 people. They had a shuttle pick up for the return but a buddy and I just walked all the way back....."training" for some upcoming long hikes.

Man that 6'11" guy looks great in the highlight vids. He can actually move and create his own shot. I'll learn his name later. lol

Enjoy your day everyone. I hope to take it easy and go to a nephew's for his 30th BD.

Thanks fellas
Hope all are well
Just to tell you a little about @BMKO2.0
This is the one I’ve mentioned before who is a musician turned sound engineer
Runs for a lot of local bands but has recently been running for JD Shelburn. Kid knows his music..he can converse intelligently on nearly every genre old and new
And he’s really really good at what he does..needless to say his Dad and I are pretty proud of him
He grew up with me basketball fandom, but didn’t get really interested until recently. I think we’ve created a monster lok
But I do appreciate y’all welcoming him

Good morning D-leaguers.....We started the racing season for the birds yesterday.........I changed clubs a few weeks ago......the old club flies from the north.....my new club flies from the south.....my birds were trained up to Seymour IN and then I started training from the south.......I didn't do as good as I hoped as 21st was my best place.......I placed 12 birds in the premiums (top 20%)........I placed 21st - 33rd out or 182 birds from 186 miles.......I spent some time on the phone with a friend in S. Africa who flies racing pigeons......he has given me a tip for speeding my birds up......I ordered the supplement that he recommended and it was on the front porch this morning......(isn't Amazon great) We are scheduled to fly a 225 mile race this coming weekend......I should be close to the top of club standings by virtue of having 12 birds in the premiums (points)......I don't have to win to achieve Club Champion.....it doesn't hurt....the last time I flew with this club I out paced the second place flyer by almost 2K points........on to the next race......Y'all have a great day!
