I think I offer criticism more than most here so with that said, we can at least see what he asked for before pitchforks come out? I preached continuity with Clark and Hines but you gotta have a walk away number - mine is way lower for Clark than Hines.

IMO, this is a win for seton hall. You can’t overpay for a pg who can’t shoot in 2026. However, I would’ve brought him back for continuity. Jerry Carin reported his agent asked for ridiculous amount of money. He and I don’t think he will get it

They’re awful quiet lately
SHU does not have the financial resources to compete against bigger programs with far wealthier donors. That is the reality we are up against. Money doesn't grow on trees. It has to be donated to support our NIL budget.

You realize he was the first real point guard Seton Hall had since Jordan Theodore. Maybe you make an argument for Whitehead but he was really a lead guard. In any event, it’s been ages since we had a real point guard and now he’s gone.

But, if that is the market price for a so-called PG who can't shoot...and we can't afford that price....how in the world can we afford the market price of a PG that CAN shoot?

I am not sure everyone puts the full picture together....we simply cannot compete in this new world order they call college basketball.
Cannot do it.
Period.
End of story.

We could hire Danny Hurley tomorrow and guess what? We cannot compete! It is irrelevant so long as the economics are what they are (and keep rising) and our finances are where they are.

I hate typing this even as I do, but that is the harsh reality.

Can we find a diamond in the rough? Of course we can. Can we find 5? Can we win Mega Millions? Odds may be similar...

It’s 2026 I don’t want a lead guard. I want a scoring guard! And uhhh the last real point guard we had was Kadary

Reading in between the lines of Carino’s article it seems that it is not the market price for a pg who can’t shoot. It seems he and his agent are shooting for the stars. Maybe he gets it, maybe he doesn’t. 🤷‍♂️

Sad to say but you are correct. The handwriting has been on the wall for a while now. The Hines and Clark exits are further proof. We are chasing our tail.

It’s not a matter of value…it’s a matter of actual dollars

We don’t know the actual dollars yet so he has a perceived value (projected $$ amount). I’m curious what Shaheen and co felt that was and how far about they were.

If they have the budget to keep him and chose not to, I would say it matters. If he asked for $2M and they said no and he went portaling, it doesn’t matter.

i’m basically saying i’d like to know what negotiations were like.

And for those who lobbied for a GM what good has that done as far as us keeping key players? Nada. And guess what we will be staring over every year and so a GM is not really impactful.

No way to sugarcoat this one. Feeder program. We had a chance to change our brand by holding onto our top players and blew it big time - AGAIN!

When our longtime fans from the glory years of the Big East sadly pass on this program will die with them unless the rules change. There will be no life long fans of this program who attended in 2020 or after. The arena will be empty. There is zero affiliation with this program at all.

The timing of the GM hire is interesting and may have no effect this year IMO. If we got him a few months ago, maybe but it seems like there is no net effect right now.

Maybe in a few weeks who knows, but right now it seems like we are operating the same way as we have in the past - not enough $, not enough creativity and from behind again. It also makes you wonder if we do actually have the $8M that has been bandied about. Maybe we don't?
