We need 15 mil and that ain't happening. I know people are talking chump change of 10 mil but that does not buy you into the tourney.
actually I would argue total roster turnover makes a GM MORE important, and potentially impactful...especially for a program like us, shopping at the Dollar Store, vs Nordstrom's. Player evaluation is critical as we have few dollars to spend, so have to invest wisely. And that means scouting and scouring all sources, to find those rare players that can perform well (based on evaluation of short term potential) and are in our budget.

Doesn't mean we will be successful, if "success" is measured in making the Tourney, as in this current world our odds of making the Tourney are negligible and we can pretty much state that for every season, roster unseen, but if you define "success" as making the most out of bare resources, a GM will play a big role in that.

In fact, one could argue that a GM is more important than a coach who can "develop" players...they only stay for 1 year so development value is marginalized. You need to maximize return in the 1 season they are here. Also means....you can basically run them into the ground...if you choose...they are not here for the long term.

Wonderful world this new college basketball is...

And how soon can we drop the "college" part of this sham?

Everyone whining about losing a 5’8 PG who can’t shoot, played badly against almost all the good teams, and was constantly in foul trouble. id have liked to keep him but if he thinks he is worth so many millions, then thats fine. Hope he gets it, but he isnt worth that to us.

Budd really didn't want to return to Seton Hall?

Well I saw on X, totally unsubstantiated, he asked for 2.5-3M. If that's true then he's nuts. That's what I mean with everyone needing more context. Or as you said he just doesn't want to play here and its less about money.

$8M that has been bandied about. Maybe we don't?

I’ve been saying that all along. There’s no way. The math never adds up unless the school is truly writing a “blank” check. And definitely not like was written recently in another thread that donations outweigh school input. You would need 1,000 donors to average a $1,000 donation each to get just $1 million. And we’re supposed to believe that we have 5-8x that amount; each season.

It’s a fake number that the administration believes the fans will accept as a competitive amount to keep them satisfied.

No disrespect but you are completely wrong here on all accounts.

He's not going to get that kind of money, but it's not an unreasonable ask for a second team all BE player. I personally think he's worth that amount, but I'm probably on an island there.

Reading between the lines, it seems like we tried a hard bargaining approach with Budd and his agent. It backfired. Now, my guess is that Budd will end up somewhere else for an amount that is equal or less than what we would have been willing to pay. Terrific.

My bet will be Budd to Indiana. I read somewhere yesterday that Indiana was #1 in MCBB with NIL compensation in 25-26.

Since we're never going to be able to afford top notch players maybe we should change our strategy to spend some money & upgrade our staff.

While it's a huge loss, he indeed carried a heavy load, the likelihood of him holding up/staying healthy for another Big East season doesn't seem too high - which is why i stressed we needed a viable backup in another thread.

I think we were really fortunate he was able to stay on the court as much as he did. I'll gladly eat crow if I'm wrong, but i don't see him being injury-free wherever he ends up if he's expected to play similar minutes.

I guess now we'll be in the market for a point guard who is actually a threat from beyond the arc and can actually finish around the basket.

And will probably cost us at least as much as he was asking for which we can’t afford.

I hope SEC conference get what it deserves bro. F college football. Don’t want to be hypocrite as a college ball fan, but college ball is better quality and closer to REaL basketball than the trash college football and it’s arrogant pathetic fake tough corruption they do to get benefits and bully their way for power and money.

they have turned college basketball into a souless league and culture like their overrated college football where Alabama and Georgia win 85% of their national
Champions and literally rig selections for their precious big southern schools no one outside their low IQ states care about.

The fact they have turned NIL pathetically to their advantage just shows how pathetic they mentality of these schools are.

This is so sad man. TBH is now proof how college basketball and American sport shad turned to sad barren wasteland like how you feel America feels like now.

It’s sad cause gotten tired of nba and I have turned to college basketball more, but it feels college basketball can be likens for me.

I just want our program to have the fair shot like every program used to have.

NcAA and American sports are pathetic.

I hope these golden boy players are happy their crying and whining about not getting “paid” when they were always getting paid anyway in the past and getting all tjesw
Arrogant coddled treatment are happy how apathetic they are as humans.

who wants to bet both the so called Marytrs Hines and Clark go to precious Pitino.

They should get worse than Kadary bro. At least we could tell Kadary was a snake.

F these guys bro. Get used to constant roster turnover. This is college basketball now thank to sick sad corrupt people in ncaa now.

To what extent are second-team conference players moving and asking for $2-$3 because agents are telling them the gravy train of five schools-five years is in jeopardy re: Trump and NCAA? I thought Clark came here because he liked Shaheen's point-guard mentality. Always thought Hines was here just treading water, and Hollaway treated him so.

Sounds like a contractor overpricing an estimate that they don’t want to touch, but for an absurd price they will take the job.

Sounds like players don’t like playing for our coach. If I am not mistaken Hines reclassified to 2025. I could see coaches at bigger schools telling him to go to play for a coach like Sha who will toughen him up and then transfer after a year.
