A few of us at Clothier Hall freshman year reached out to the band SLADE and we had a deposit/date for a concert supported by Rutgers funded RUMP. RUMP canceled the RUMP deposit for SLADE in favor of a Bruce Springsteen concert.

Seen a few times..Keswick years ago and just this past Oct. at the Scottish Rite. I can't stand his solo stuff but I'd go again just to see the 2nd act of Genesis material. BTW, I saw something yesterday on my Facebook feed that he is planning to tour with a new band line-up. I would assume he isn't changing that keyboard player and lead singer. Or the Brass . He usually just changes the drummer and bass.

If you're a Pre- "And then there were three" fan like me you need to go see The Musical Box. They replicate the shows with the lead dressing and talking like Peter. IIRC they even purchased the light show from the Lamb Tour.
I've seen The Musical Box a bunch of times. It's a great recreation of Peter Gabriel Genesis. Recently they've added early Phil Collins stuff to the shows.

Have my tickets to Sugar at Webster Hall in May and Triumph at Forest Hills in June.

$300 for AC/DC in Houston for upper deck football stadium tickets. That's a bit ridiculous. Fifteen years ago, I paid $25 to stand 10 feet from the center of the stage to see Springsteen.

April 9- for metal heads/ stoner rock fans---Clutch and Corrosion of Conformity are at Starland Ballroom. COC is touring with Galactic's drummer, Stanton Moore. Stanton is a fantastic drummer, who did the drums on COC's In the Arms of God, and on their upcoming double album. Not everyone's cup of tea, but solid musicians.

shift. I'll tell you this and you can choose to believe it or not. Back in the late 70's as a Jr/Senior in High School I could (almost) cover all these drummers. I found Rush with 2112 and others like Zappa, Beck (Wired) , Kansas, Genesis, Chicago , Yes, etc. That's Neil (Rush), Terry Bozio (Zappa), Chester Thompson (Zappa/ Genesis), Phil Earhart (Kansas), Collins (Genesis), Danny Serafin (Chicago) , Alan White (Yes).. etc

Rodgers Londoner Five kit (double toms) with 22" Ride, 18" Crash/ride, 16" Crash and 15" High Hats (all Zildjian) . Remo heads and 5A Nylon tipped sticks.

I drove my neighbors crazy and if you know how hard Neil played I can tell you I beat the crap out of my heads/sticks and the hardware required constant adjustment.

My dream was to go to Ohio State and play in the band, be a music major. Financial realty brought me to Rutgers and an Economics Degree.

'Why did you post this?" well I felt compelled to admit while I have opinions about Football and Basketball. I fuvking know how to drum and miss it. Just sharing a life regret out loud and choose you to tag it to.

The Guess Who played on May 17, 1974, at Veterans Stadium after the Phillies game.
I saw the Guess Who around 1970 or so
One of the beer companies, forgot which one, did an outdoor concert series in NYC
Pretty decent show

Clutch is a good band. COC had a couple of songs I liked; Voting With A Bullet and Dance of the Dead.

Those two songs are bangers, for sure, and they were recorded with the one-off singer Karl Agell in 1991. Pepper Keenan sings lead vocals now. That song Vote With a Bullet was more about disenfranchisement generally, and Pepper venting over a recent serious injury. “My body was broken and I owed all this money to hospitals – hundreds of thousands of dollars when I was basically sleeping on somebody’s dining room table in a sleeping bag. It’s a battle cry for the disenfranchised youth who were sick of the system. The man in the ivory tower wasn’t working for us.”
That album, Blind, was also a departure from the band's hardcore punk roots.

To me, their more recent albums are just heavier versions of Lynyrd Skynyrd with more aggressive guitars and drum, but a lot of Southern boogie mixed in. That's more than anyone cares about

Check out this song from In the Arms of God- Dirty Hands/Empty Pockets- brilliant capture of the Iraq war and skipped past the "rap" in the beginning, it really swings.

Concert ticket prices SKYROCKETED following the stupid shutdown. We paid $250 for corner 200-level seats to see Duran Duran at MSG so $300 to see AC/DC - even in the upper deck - isn't surprising at all when you take into consideration how few shows they're playing in The States.

I saw that. I haven’t seen him in concert before and want to. Hopefully he’ll make to the end of July.
I’ve seen him three times in recent years. He was GREAT at Carnegie Hall. One of the best shows I’ve ever seen. Very good at the State Theater. Disappointing, low energy at the Beacon Theater. Age and chain smoking were taking a toll.

I’m glad to see he’s getting fit for this tour.

Not a musician but Craig Ferguson is touring. If you liked his humor on his TV show he is side-splittingly funny in his act.

ParkStage, the nonprofit Count Basie Center's outdoor concert venue collaboration with Monmouth County Tourism, has revealed its first wave of artists coming this summer to East Freehold Showgrounds - Sublime (Friday, June 19), The Head and The Heart with special guests Wilderado (Friday, June 26), and The B-52s with special guests The English Beat (Saturday, July 11).

The B-52's and The English Beat--sounds great. Fred Schneider, born in NJ and graduated Shore Regional High School. Kate Pierson, born in Weehawken and went to school in Rutherford. English Beat songs include Mirror in the Bathroom and Save It for Later.

AC/DC playing MetLife this Friday for their final show on this tour (maybe ever if you consider their ages). The opening act is the Foo Fighters. When they canceled last week I almost selected the refund option. Glad I did not.

I did see Mellencamp in late July. It was a very good concert, the band and backup singers are excellent. He played all his “hits” which he typically does not do when touring. I’ve been going to the PNC for decades and have seen many concerts, the crowd at this concert was among the largest, if not the largest I’ve seen. The place was packed to the rafters.

Saw AC DC in Philly last night. Amazing show. Brian Johnson is 78, and Angus Young is 71. Cued to where it starts-2 hours into the show at the end of Let There Be Rock, Angus goes on to a 20 minute guitar solo. My fingers hurt watching it. What a rock show should be-totally unbridled, loud fun sing alongs and guitar solos
The Pretty Reckless were solid too (they are not playing Friday). Taylor Momsen is quite a good singer an performer, but in the 50 minutes she played, I think she dropped 500 F bombs.

One of the reasons we rarely go to PNC, plus now they gouge patrons on parking in the lots East of the Parkway. Absolutely shameful what PNC did to that facility. During Bob Seger's farewell tour, the lawn was grossly oversold. Saw Creedence Clearwater revisited there 2 or 3 years ago, and we skip that venue unless a show is an absolute must see.

Meh nothing IMO. Name me a more relevant and consistent rock band over the past 30 years and they are now being paired with AC/DC? Can put Chile Peppers up there. Wheezer, good but not that good. Who else? Consistent and relevant over the course of time.

Edit: I'll throw The Eagles a bone as they still make their rounds.

I've never been much of a rocker and I certainly dont like 20 minute solos but I saw Angus had to coax applause from fans multiple times. I would think fans would be more appreciative. Maybe long solos do that. I never went to Philly for a gig but I know in NYC the audiences aren't too demonstrative and it can spook the performers who are used more dynamic audiences (I saw Dev Hynes/Blood Orange have ask a crowd if everything was ok mid gig). New Yorkers are just used to lots of entertainment and can enjoy a show without reacting on the surface

Didn't realize relevant and more consistent were the criteria. If that's the criteria, throw in Green Day and Coldplay. The Pretty Reckless were quite a solid pairing of a HARD rock band with AC DC. But since you asked, System of a Down and Anthrax come to mind. Saw the FFs open for RHCP years ago, and they just don't move the needle for me like AC DC and other hard rock bands.

Angus has done this for many years. It's called a call and response. It's part of the show.
And US crowds are totally lame compared to Europe when it comes to rock shows. And NYC and LA shows are some of the worst crowds. Just a bunch of people there for the event with their cellphones and selfies and social media posts screaming look where I am. I supposed Foo Fighters fit right in there.

2001 in Munich. Angus doing his thing, and the crowd goes nuts.

I saw AC/DC at Notre Dame Stadium last month. They put on a great show. I was surprised by the energy they brought to the show at their age. Really entertaining. I'll be at MetLife tonight as well.

It’s funny when I started to really get into rock music in the early ‘70s, most of my favorite bands and artists did not try to ingratiate themselves with the audience. They weren’t demonstrative performers , no theatrics, no screaming at the audience to get loud, generally not much banter. I think it kind of fit into the counter culture era which in many ways was anti commercial. The “selling” of music was considered “selling out” of sorts. The ethos was more about the music, playing, singing. I always kind of respected that. I wasn’t drawn to the more ostentatious or flamboyant bands. As I got older and my musical tastes expanded, I became more tolerant of that stuff. I would say I’m still more attracted to very unpretentious musical acts.

I only go to The Cure live these day (and they dont play often). I don't listen to them a lot at home but I wont miss them live. They perform "clean" and don't use a lot of gimmicks. They don't do solos either despite being a three guitar band. They see the songs as works of art where the sum should be greater than the parts. I'm not against solos but I dont like gimmick "shredding" and such. I never cared "how fast" someone played with smoke and lights going off
