We need DTs. I’d think he’d be cheap and would add depth if they really liked him.

His HS tape reminded Me a ton of Colin Cole , low center of gravity and stout and quick 1st step to the gaps
If the Hawks don't drop $1.5M on a QB, will they try to get a proven play maker on the outside?
My list by greatest need:
- Retain our starters
- Game changing WR although VanderZee might be that guy
- Portal Kicker or our redshirt freshman?
- Portal DT with experience, I like our DE talent
- Portal CB
- A lot of QB talent in the portal, might be a value get

Nailed it. Although I’d put DTs a top the list. Even if RVZ you think is a WR1 quality receiver you need a high quality WR2.

Yep, a lot of speed and great athletes. Buffington will start and probably Montgomery but Weisskopf or Ries should move up. Gautcher has 4.5 speed and Cooney has looked good in practice. Need to get these kids on the field.
Difference between KF and Hayden is if all things were equal, Hayden played the younger, higher upside guys and KF defaults to the guy with more time in the program.
I like RVZ but I don't quite see him as a true game changer. I'd love to get another WR as the #1. That's just me, though.
He needs to be used as a #1 WR. He’s amazing at the fade-it’s something every other team Iowa plays has mastered, but for some reason, Iowa only throws it in desperation situations
I do wish Iowa would utilize the fade with him and use that 6'4" height of his.
I just don't see him as being a #1 WR on many teams that have talented WRs. Now, he indeed is currently is the #1 on this team, yes; I just think Iowa needs more at that position.
Hopefully he has a monster year and shows me he is a #1 regardless of whether or not the Hawks bring in another guy.
A WR1 can take the top off a Defense and commands at least partial double coverage , RVZ is an excellent redzone and back shoulder type WR but He is not a true WR1, He is a Good X , Iowa needs a burner that can threaten all 3 levels and command a Safety to at least shade to Him. Iowa needs to get a WR, 2 DTs , K , Depth OT at minimum, I would also add a Experienced LB and CB/ S . Since they are not QB shopping the WR and K , 2 DTs should be financially a go at minimum

And MANY of them have ended up being AA's especially when were talking about LB's, SO.........Here's three off the top of my head that didn't start their first two years and went on to become All Americans. Angerer, Campbell, and Higgens. Ring a bell?

Dotzler was a rotational starter this season. I'd put him in that first spot.
A lot of our second team played in multiple games this year so there is experience and depth. No problem with Dotzler as a starter. Kc, I thought I read somewhere that George and Myslinski will be back next year. Do you recall their status?
Yeah, that was kinda my thought as well. Would love to add another Nick Jackson caliber transfer.
Buffington, Wiesskopf, Gautcher and Cooney were all 4 star LBers and Ries a high three. Ries has shown a lot on special teams already. Jewel and Campbell both started multiple years and were given the reigns early.
Iowa's LBers typically excel when the DLine occupies the blockers.
This season, the DLine struggled to do that and consequently, the linebackers labored.
In looking at this year's defensive stats, three of the top four tacklers were defensive backs.
Iowa linebackers need a good DLine. When a huge area of need is the DLine for 2026, the entire front seven is suspect, imo.
Our interior DL was average at best this year. Had flashes at times.
Drew Stevens Brothers Coach just left Wazzu and If He enters the Portal Iowa should be on Him like Lizzo on a cheeseburger
Lizzo lost 60 lbs this year, so let's say pre 2025 Lizzo on a cheeseburger
The most obvious need in the portal is DL (specifically DT), QB and WR. Maybe could use 1 safety as well. Line play makes everything better I'd throw a lot of money at two good DT's.
