I have $200 on ISU-moneyline. Easy money.I have no confidence in the Hawks winning in Ames.
Please let me be wrong.
Not sure how much you can make out of the ISU/KSU game. Conditions and the field were terrible. The hawks will tighten things up, play much better and win.
Kansas St had to score late iirc to beat N Dakota, not N Dakota St, but N Dakota. KState gave up 35 points to SDakota, I dont think that is very good. ISU only scored 24 against KState.
Maybe NDakota is pretty good, I dont know and looking at scores of other games can only give you so much info early in the year.
Iowa has very good special teams, Iowa has always seemed to shut down ISU's running game even Montgomery and Hall. Iowa will need to do that again but more importantly get better pass rush pressure.
If Iowa can get 125 yards passing and 200 rushing they can win as the hawks usually dont turn it over very much and make penalties.
A couple of points, ISU took a knee at the KSU one yard line to run out the clock and win the game, they could have easily scored again. Didn't have too so they didn't. The Squawks special teams will not be better than ISU on Saturday, the kicker for ISU hit a 63 yard field goal Saturday, remember him, he hit the game winner last season of 51. ISU returned a punt for 99 yards, but he stepped out of bounce and it was called back by review so only 60 yards. We also have a decent punter. The hawks will tighten things up, play much better and win.

It's a great sports cliche', but not exactly. With a few exceptions the better team usually wins. Rarely does Iowa lose to ISU and go on to have a great year.Again...we've all seen this ISU-Iowa movie before. As much as You want to look at each team and say one is better than the other, you can throw that all out this week.
It will, as usual, come down to special teams play and turnovers. It happens every year. It will be close. I say MG proves doubters wrong this week and we control the LOS and win 23-20. Drew Stevens kicks a 50+ FG for the win late.
As long as the gap in qb play isn’t significant Iowa will win. The problem is the gap in qb play will be significant. It's a great sports cliche', but not exactly. With a few exceptions the better team usually wins. Rarely does Iowa lose to ISU and go on to have a great year.
Last 5 losses to ISU Iowa's season record was...
2024 8-5 (Iowa choked a game they should have won)
2022 7-5
2014 7-6
2012 4-8
2010 7-6
If Rocco Becht has a good day, ISU wins. Quarterbacks matter.
Our D line was supposed to be the strength of the D. They didn't look that dominant Saturday. Truth is, we don't know. Albany is not a good team.As long as the gap in qb play isn’t significant Iowa will win. The problem is the gap in qb play will be significant.
I think we hold advantages in trenches which is always critical.
I don’t think Epenesa rotated in at all did he? Anyone got the snap counts for D Line? Our D line was supposed to be the strength of the D. They didn't look that dominant Saturday. Truth is, we don't know. Albany is not a good team.
Kansas State is a mediocre team. Dropped INT, Brian Ferentzish play calling and a horrible spot on 4th and 2 kept them from beating ISU.The hawks will tighten things up, play much better and win.

Lolol.. Like Stevens is any less? He made that one Sat from 56 but it would have been good from over 65 easily. He kick 65 yarders in practice regularly and that one Saturday would have been good from there as well. They have no advantage in the kick game and we have the better punter and the Jett winner from last year in Wetjen. Want to bet they don't kick it anywhere near him Saturday. Thats what Albany did the whole game. Kicked both of their kickoffs out of bounds rather then let him field the ball.ISU kicker made a 63 yard FG
He may not be consistent but in a big spot he has the distance.
That many fans here think the sky is falling after one game we won by 27 points? Not really.....As of 10:00 the votes are 14-10 ISU. Can't remember that last time most of us expected to lose to them. Very telling.
Dude, we beat an FCS team picked to finish near the bottom of their conference by 27. That's nothing to thump your chest over. ISU won 55-7 over the #5 ranked FCS team and looked good doing it.That many fans here think the sky is falling after one game we won by 27 points? Not really.....
The final was 55 to 7, but ISU did look sharp on offense the entire game and Becht was out of the game in the 3rd quarter. SD moved the ball right down the field passing the first series they had the ball and scored to tie it up at 7. ISU then scored to go up 7 and SD again was moving the ball and throw a pick around the 20, on a horrible throw and it was over. ISU scored again to go up 21-7, the defense clamped down and SD looked lost the rest of the game on offense. ISU played mostly reserves starting half way through the 3rd quarter and the rest of the game.Dude, we beat an FCS team picked to finish near the bottom of their conference by 27. First no ones "thumping their chest", and ISU and Iowa were not playing last week. I do love the "picked near the bottom, or top in the pre season ranking for FCS," like that means much the first week of Sept. We'll see what happens after Iowa has a week to stew over this. Honestly, many here need to work in the yard on Saturday and wait to watch the replay later so they don't stroke during the game.Dude, we beat an FCS team picked to finish near the bottom of their conference by 27. You said we "won by 27", as if it was significant. There are a few FCS programs that you say "Ok, they'll be a decent opponent". Albany is not one of them.First no ones "thumping their chest", and ISU and Iowa were not playing last week. KF still should have went for the 66 yard FG to end the game last season.Lolol.. Like Stevens is any less? He made that one Sat from 56 but it would have been good from over 65 easily. By 27 points over Albany. Until Iowa scheduled them, I didn't even know there was a thing called an Albany, and I've been following college football for awhile. Albany . . . give me a break. They were 4-8 last year and play in a facility with 8,500 seats. Iowa has no business playing the likes of an Albany, or a UMass, for that matter, but those two wins will put KF over the top. Getting more than a quarter of your wins against teams like that would make anyone proud . . .That many fans here think the sky is falling after one game we won by 27 points? Not really.....
His foot hit out of bounds and the replay overturned his run back. The point is many Squawks fans see your punt return game as a huge advantage and it's just not. The same kid also had another nice return. The special teams will be a push both ways, both are very good and not an advantage for either side. This game will come down to QB play and turnovers. Becht will be good, the question is can the squawk QB come close to matching him. ISU will take away your running game, you will still get yards, but without a decent passing game ISU will crowd the box and force you to beat them through the air.Lol what?
I believe you mean out of bounce. His foot hit out of bounds and the replay overturned his run back. The point is many Squawks fans see your punt return game as a huge advantage and it's just not. It's the capital of N.Y. . It's really lovely out that way in the Fall. You should check it out sometime. Ithaca is spectacular as well.By 27 points over Albany. Just remember you lost to Spencer Petras and Cade McNamara in Ames with Brian Ferentz as OC.His foot hit out of bounds and the replay overturned his run back. I believe Hawks win. No idea on score.I think Iowa wins by 10 or so - 31-21.
Iowa seems to be dialed in better on the road, especially in Ames lately. Less pressure for MG & ISU makes some egregious mistakes in front of their fans.
All I am saying is if Iowa state needs a long field goal their guy has a good leg.Lolol.. Like Stevens is any less? He made that one Sat from 56 but it would have been good from over 65 easily. He kick 65 yarders in practice regularly and that one Saturday would have been good from there as well. And neither are the two teams isu has beat. Our D line was supposed to be the strength of the D. They didn't look that dominant Saturday. Truth is, we don't know. Albany is not a good team.
Exactly, which has been my point. Anyone who thinks they can predict how this game will go is smoking something, and yes that goes for you @somewhereiniowaI truly have no idea how the game will play out, In years past I felt Iowa had a clearly superior team and it didn’t play out that way. It’s a rivalry game and you just never know.
