Really? He will have a ton of time in the pocket and has shown he can make some pretty good throws against the big boys- those sideline passes against the #2 team in the country, hitting guys in stride all season. We can let GW air it out without showing anything new that we haven't already done. It is the perfect time to build the confidence.

Maybe we’ll throw a couple long balls for fun but I don’t think our staff is looking to establish false confidence that way. Being able to complete long balls against Wagner is meaningless. Our coaches want Gavin playing disciplined. He’s exactly where they want him confidence wise in terms of development. For whatever reason, Gavin’s had the most trouble taking the zip out of the short passes. That has nothing to do with competition level which is why this should be the perfect game for him to work on cleaning that up.

By long- I am also talking 20 - 25 yds down the middle. 15-25 yard outs and such. Plays that you need 3 seconds to develop.
Not so much, the 40 yd in the air throw down the sideline. But we need the confidence in plays that take defenders away from the LOS.

I hear you, but Wagner’s defense is worthless. It doesn’t mean anything to be able to complete those types of vertical passes against them.

It does- it is still against live action and not practice. And it isn't about completing them but are we executing them.

I don't really do predictions, but I predict that KM will get his yards and the other four running backs will get lots of carries.

those out patterns weren’t even 10 yards. we’ll see 200 yards rushing and limited passing IMO.

Not foreseeing any problems Saturday but Wagner is not as bad as they were last year. As GS said in the presser last year they came into the game riding a 21 game losing streak. This year they've won their last two.

Yeah, but Rutgers is better than last year at quarterback, running back, receiver, tight end, and offensive line.
On defense they're better on the line, at linebacker, and the secondary.

Agree 100%. But my point is that they're not the absolute bottom of the barrel team that they were last year. Now they're a few inches above the bottom.

From what we’ve seen so far this year, Gavin is already executing the medium and long balls well when he has time. Wagner isn’t going to be able to get to him and their DBs aren’t going to match up well
in coverage. That’s all Im saying. Evan looked like a stud against them last year.

Where in contrast - taking that zip out of the short toss passes without making a shaky throw has been hard for Gavin - for whatever reason. His issues there don’t seem to be related to the defense. He could really benefit from a heavy dose of repetition on this Saturday.

45-0 Rutgers. We almost shutout northwestern and gave up 7 to Temple. This is a goose egg for the birds.

A more interesting poll is, how many RU touchdown passes and passing yards. I predict 1 passing TD and 125 yards. Schiano won't risk GW losing confidence via aggressive/unsuccessful passing AND not wanting to show much more to Wisky.

That might be your greatest move when claiming greatness.

Thank you. I can’t see him getting any next week. 25 yards rushing, 75 passing, 1 pick. Just isn’t a passing threat. Only question is whether the OL can run block to keep the game close.

Shelby says 13-27L
