Can people finally STFU about MSG now?

If you are saying that the NCAA would consider all games we play there as home, I would agree that it is a negative for the arrangement

That’s my understanding of the announcement last week in the change in NET treatment. The premise of the change was based on our proximity to the venue.

Again, the biggest issue I have with this is the fact that the logic is inconsistent since it doesn’t apply for the conference tourney venues. Those are all neutral.

If we hadn't had about 10 threads and hundreds of posts whining about it, it might be immature. After having to suffer through all that whining, it was appropriate, IMO.

Well just because it was a good result doesn't mean it was all of a sudden a good process.
Whining was justified because it was a bad process regardless of game outcome.

Doubt this thread pops up if we lost.

I thought that alternating home and away against a big ten team at the garden was fair
Some hated it. As long as it was evenly done, I like it
A great day for RU, and more memorable than many RAC games

Good luck getting any school to give up thrir home game to play Rutgers with Rutgers as the away team after Rutgers had 11500 fans in the building

If MSG is a "neutral site" I assume folks would have no problem with the following:

- A two game series versus Duke or UNC with both games in Greensboro (since it is a "neutral site")
- During the RAC renovation play all four Michigan and Michigan State games at Little Caesars Arena in Detroit (That is four neutral site games, right?)
- During RAC renovation play all four games versus USC and UCLA at Staples (That is four games at neutral sites also.)

All of the people complaining Here would be equally as pissed if Iowa played Michigan on the same floor next year. This gets people who can't get to the RAC into a game. Absolutely nothing wrong with it

I mean, Michigan did it in 2020. But I tend to agree with you, after yesterday, why would any of our conference mates sign up for that?

Very good points.
But was it ever Rutgers (or any schools) choice to make these "neutral" site games?

Wasn't it the BIG mandating it?
If so, the above scenarios aren't exactly applicable.

After yesterday, most top teams in the country won’t sign up for a game @ MSG against this team.

That is the objective. I spoke to multiple people who cannot get into JMA that showed up at MSG to support the team.

Some people here cannot handle success.

Not happening. It has to be an even arrangement here on in. Our home game at MSG. In exchange - the road game vs. Purdue (same season). is in Indianapolis. Or something like that.

If the contract for this game is extended they won’t have a choice. Next time Rutgers plays this game they’ll be giving up a road game.

Again do you think closer game at MSG or the RAC? Listen to Pike, not me, post game. Where would Pike rather play?

Answer is pretty clear.
Already play 80% of non-conference games at home. Get a non- conference game or two on neutral court against a formidable opponent would be great.

well, if the big ten cannot get a team to do it, as Michigan did a few years ago, then we don't do it

Yeah, but the question remains will the NCAA now treat it as a home game because of proximity to campus. 🤷‍♂️

This win was so much better for the RU brand then another win at the RAC. Packing MSG and beating a blue blood is a big deal to the media/ average sports fan. It adds another layer of credibility to the program.
If we had lost is the issue. Is it worth the risk?
It’s clear RU didn’t volunteer for this and Pike would rather we play at the RAC.
Crickets on those simple facts. Can’t dispute it!! No commentary on that is pretty damning.

The other elephant in the room is would we be getting STFU messages on the board if we lost? I think not. So some fans should get off their high horse.

Again last two times at home vrs MSU at the RAC we won by 20 + and 30 +.
Yesterday we down by 8 in the second half.
Some think the risk is worth it, I would rather win first than worrying about our brand and the Garden.
The more we learned about this game the least attractive it became.
Thank God we won.

But to be told to STFU or that anyone who doesn’t like this game is nuts….That’s more crazy.
And to keep ripping posters who dare to disagree and to not expect them to respond….
It’s a message board!
I went to the game. It was a blast. But I was nervous at the half, I would rather a conference game at home.

And again the crucial honest question you have to ask yourself, if we had lost would we all be so happy about the Garden?
If it ever happens again hope we get all the dets before hand and not after the fact. There are also serious questions about the fairness to RU, even if you love the game at the Garden, that must be addressed.

I’ll end it on that but if the usual cast of characters continue to rip me or strings telling RU fans to STFU, damn straight I’m going to respond and keep it going. How many of you wouldn’t?

Go RU! Beat Indiana!

Nope - would Rather showcase the RAC than MSG. For the tv audience - especially outside of NYC - I don’t think people care where the game was played…glad RU fans showed up in force.

RAC atmosphere is better on tv too…

RU shouldn’t get bullied into this again IMHO.

Edit: One more note for those who want the BIG to have a presence in NYC they should continue to rotate the BIG tournament into MSG that is way more appropriate.

You torch whatever credibility you might have when you imply that we can’t lose this game at the RAC or that we would be expected to win by 20-30 points. We were favored by 4.5 in that game; that number is maybe 6-6.5 at the RAC.

Win games like this at MSG and make a good tournament run and they will do national games from the RAC in the future.

BTW something most of you overlook, the players absolutely loved playing at the Garden yesterday.

Coach does not. And again do it for a non conference game.

Did you eat paint chips as a child? You've been ridiculous all week and after seeing the turn out yesterday you should just be quiet now.

Never about attendance.
If it were, game would have been even later. Last minute fill in slot for Garden.

Who wants 20 and 30 point wins at the RAC when we can be down by 8 in the second half at the Garden against a conference opponent we are fighting for seeding.

Although I may be a risk averse RU fan, I especially love those paint chips with lead. Especially like them fried by the power from the electrical towers. A nice sizzle.

it was loud, in person. It didn’t seem louder than the RAC to me but like I said I was up in the second level which might be why.

The other poster that I replied to indicated it seemed quieter on tv though
The "Go Green, Go White" cheer came through loud and clear.
