Can people finally STFU about MSG now?

it was loud, in person. It didn’t seem louder than the RAC to me but like I said I was up in the second level which might be why.

The other poster that I replied to indicated it seemed quieter on tv though
Yes, you could tell they were muting it a bit so the announcers could be heard clearly. So that tells you how loud it was during the game. Didn't take a genius to figure out and most of the R-U chants were heard clearly.

I can’t believe the negative stuff here

Getting a game in a pro arena with different feel and sight lines Is huge for us …huge , if we want to make a run in March

I can only hope we are playing here again in 7 weeks from right now …..
Disagree so much. A loss would have been devastating. Never ever give up home court. And we don’t get NET points and Izzo was thrilled we played at Garden. We dodged a huge bullet.

I am very!! But last two times we won by 20 + and 30+ at the RAC!! This could have been a disaster and almost was.

Don’t do it again. So not worth it.

We should all celebrate!!! But we gave away a lot unnecessarily and almost had devastating loss. Losing at half time….

Don’t say Garden is so great… please.

GO RU!
LMAO, just because 2 prior games were blow outs means nothing.

Are the teams the same as those games?
Does every game play out the same way?
Do players have off days?

Citing prior blowouts is useless to today's game and shows how weak your position is. But we already knew this because pretty much every post in this thread is a contender for dumbest of the year.

Yeah he was doing backflips in the handshake line because he got RU at MSG.

He knows he was close to getting his butt whipped by Pike if we hit our usual free throw percentage.

No point on further engaging with either a troll or an idiot

How cool would that be? I wasn't old enough in 76 and I didn't have the funds in 83 and I was way too busy with work in 89 and 91, but after having so much fun in Indy and Dayton (despite the losses) I intend to go to every NCAA tourney game I can from here on out and I would love for us to start going deeper in the tourney and think we will.

Def not as loud as the RAC. For people who just watch on TV, the broadcasts always turn the crowd volume down on our RAC games for whatever reason.

Can you be more half empty.

BTW: I guess by your thinking we almost lost every game we play.

Garden Atmosphere was so so so so Great! The Riot Squad loved it.....my Rutgers kids loved it.

Go Scratch....
The Riot Squad was the biggest difference at MSG. You really didn't notice them today but I don't think the FOX cameras were looking for them much either.

Nobody bitching at all. Last two MSU games at RAC we won by 20+ and 30+.

Today at MSG we were lucky to escape with a win.

Thrilled and enjoy but please don’t make it an argument for giving away home games at the Garden.

So by your logic we beat MSU by 20 at the RAC in perpetuity?

We nearly lost to a not so good OSU team at the RAC. We could have easily to MSU at the RAC today. MSG was great !

If the game was at the RAC would MSU even score a single point?
Eastern Michigan?
Home court advantage!
Lower seed in tournament?

Again do you think closer game at MSG or the RAC? Listen to Pike, not me, post game. Where would Pike rather play?

Answer is pretty clear.

We were not lucky. This team is good. Good teams find ways to win.

If you haven't noticed we are on the verge of being an elite team and elite teams are not afraid to challenge themselves and not run away.

MSU not giving away a home game to the Palace? Good teams don’t let Garden or B1G dictate. If you haven’t noticed….

Pike’s comments post game, to much of this ridiculous commentary and attacks of me, would so rather play at the RAC.

Boom. You lose!

The guy you are responding to is borderline delusional.

This was a defensive battle by both teams today as evidenced by the awful shooting stats for each. He foolishly believes it would have been something different if it was in Piscataway.

He also keeps repeating that Izzo preferred playing RU at MSG and has no clue the Izzo's record at MSG is something like 4-16 after today. So people fall for the bait too easily.

At one point it seemed RU brought the video operators because every fan shown was in scarlet despite the MSU fans in attendance.

Then it seemed like the board operators were suddenly told to give the MSU fans equal airtime. It was somewhat cringey but still comical hearing the RU crowd then booing even grandmas and kids decked out in green on the video board.

Were you at the Michigan game back in 19-20? We were booing MSU fans on the screen early in my section in the same vein

All the kids getting booed had big smiles on their faces lol. All in good fun

In terms of preparation for the post season playing in a big arena is important. It's no surprise that shooting percentages are down when we start out. A shooter's depth perception in relation to the rim is way off. The reason for that is there is no background as the seats are pushed back from the court at an angle. Most college arenas aren't built that way.
For many years when I coached high school my teams would play a prelim at the Meadowlands before a Nets game. I can't tell you how many airballs on jumpers and foul shots during warmups we had until we became acclimated. It's very different.

The game atmosphere was terrific Everything about it was a great look for RU’s program. I hope when the RAC gets renovated we arrange a bunch of home games there (since our real home gym won’t be available).

The background regarding the switch in treatment from Q1 to Q2 doesn’t suck any less though. And yes, this part will be even more annoying should we happen to draw NW for a neutral game in Chicago next month.

Thrilled and hear you but hardly wearing people out. Should have been at RAC. Shouldn’t have been this close
We could have lost at the RAC since everything unfolds differently in a different environment
You never consider that

OP misses the points that at the RAC the game would have been a sell-out but there were 5,000 unsold seats at MSG. Also, it was only a Quad 2 win at MSG but would have been a Quad 2 win at the RAC. And, sure, the national press gave the MSG win a lot of coverage but it would have been so much more if the game was played in Piscataway.

Totally. This isn’t the issue. Suppose this was a season like 2019-20 where we really struggled away from home? I know we didn’t win the MSG Michigan game that year but going into the game it would’ve been horrible if it didn’t even count for us as another neutral chance. Suppose we won that game and lost the game at Mackey? Jerry Palm would’ve loved that….

Anyway - the point is we just need to negotiate an arrangement that doesn’t weaken our SOS on a relative basis to everyone else. Pike doesn’t like scheduling aggressively in non-conference and this would put more pressure on him to do so.

Great time going, great to see all the RU gear on the streets and bars of Manhattan around the Garden, great game atmosphere, great and exciting game, great post apres game with friends and other RU fans.

Wouldn't change a thing. Really good memorable day overall and will love a chance to do it again for RU basketball.

Recorded and watched some of the game whan I got home last night.....crowd, coverage and atmosphere came across very impressively for RU IMO.

I thought that alternating home and away against a big ten team at the garden was fair
Some hated it. As long as it was evenly done, I like it
A great day for RU, and more memorable than many RAC games

Me too. It was fair but no longer would work for us particularly based on the way we schedule soft out of conference. We can’t afford to go into the season also having a weaker conference schedule than every other major conference team. That’s what it would be from now on when we give up a true road game. The SOS math would work out that we play one more home and one less road game than everyone else.

If you are saying that the NCAA would consider all games we play there as home, I would agree that it is a negative for the arrangement
