Even with Morikawa saying he's staying with PGA, I wouldn't be shocked if that changed over the next few months. Hideki, Niemann, Hovland may be joining Ancer pretty soon.
If there is no cut then the last place finish amount is the appearance fee correct? Just like liv.Doesn't solve appearance fees either. Miss the cut you go home broke!
No events get cancelled. Read the article.Lose revenue? Doubt it. I think it shows the PGA makes a lot more then the have announced they do. A big complaint by the players.
Overhaul I think it's a bad move. What 7 events will they cancel to have this ? There is only 1 open week on their schedule.

Except everyone who attacked Phil for totally different reasons. No one attacked DJ for joining. Phil’s fan club still spinning.Man, this is an EPIC FAIL on behalf of those who immediately attacked Phil and thought this was going to be a failure lol!
No LIV is appearance fee and purse. If there is no cut then the last place finish amount is the appearance fee correct? Just like liv.
So they will have 2 events the same time or use the current list?No events get cancelled. Read the article.
After this announcement by the PGA Tour, player motivations will be clear. People who want the easy road will play on LUV. People who want to compete will play on PGA Tour.Who doesn’t want to watch a tour with no incentive to actually winning. Guess you guys really enjoy participation trophies. All of this because Brooks and Ancer joined? Too funny.
No incentive?? Are you high? Besides his appearence fee Schwartzel made ANOTHER $4,000,000 for 3 days of playing a game. Lots of $$$ incentivesWho doesn’t want to watch a tour with no incentive to actually winning. Guess you guys really enjoy participation trophies. All of this because Brooks and Ancer joined? Two events those 8 weeks. Just like they do with WOrld Golf Championship weeks. So they will have 2 events the same time or use the current list?
Compared to 200mm and 120mm guaranteed money? Maybe the guys that got smaller signing bonus will try hard.No incentive?? Are you high? Besides his appearence fee Schwartzel made ANOTHER $4,000,000 for 3 days of playing a game. Lots of $$$ incentives
They did lose their sponsorship $$$ though!!Compared to 200mm and 120mm guaranteed money? Maybe the guys that got smaller signing bonus will try hard.
Phil will try harder. They did lose their sponsorship $$$ though!!![]()
That Workday hat looked good on Matthew FitzpatrickPhil will try harder.
Fan Duel and First Tee. Remember how concerned he is in growing golf. You would think that Phil’s agent can sign up fan dual or any other online gambling sites as a sponsor.
You pretty much just described all US professional and college sports as well. Most teams have no incentive/capability to win. A lot of people watch because of betting though. I am sure people with watch/bet the LIV as well.Who doesn’t want to watch a tour with no incentive to actually winning. Guess you guys really enjoy participation trophies. On another topic, I saw Nick Faldo is retirement from CBS beginning of August. CBS coverage is pretty bland but Sir Nick never bothered me. He's definitely better than Azinger (although that is not saying much).
Team sports is a different animal. You pretty much just described all US professional and college sports as well. Most teams have no incentive/capability to win. A lot of people watch because of betting though. I am sure people with watch/bet the LIV as well.
Immelman is pretty blah. I don't see him as a lead but they may not have any better options. Maybe Phil would like to join the booth for Tony Romo type money!Immelman as the replacement will be interesting. He's a decent on course guy so I wonder how he will be in the booth.
This.Again, the big question here is how long are the Saudis gonna want to throw millions around with no actual financial return? They can't be in this all just for a nice whitewash of their reputation. At some point, they are going to want to see money flowing back their way.
They are playing the long game and don't care how much money it takes. The Saudis have 600 billion set aside with plans to get that up to one trillion by 2030. They started with $2 billion to start the golf up. This isn't like a normal business that needs profits sooner rather than later, they can go forever without making a dime on this if they want to.
That’s what they would like you to believe. They’ll pull the plug if it doesn’t get off the ground in a couple of years. That’s how all these Middle East sovereign wealth fund works. They are playing the long game and don't care how much money it takes.
They already have forced the PGA to make some changes, more guaranteed money and events have have no cuts
PGA Tour plans to add eight $20 million tournaments in 2023 as attempt to combat LIV Golf, per report - CBSSports.com
>Starting next year, the PGA Tour schedule will include eight limited-field no-cut events, with purses of $20 million or more each, for the top 50 finishers in the prior season's FedEx Cup standings.<

Who cares if they pull the plug in a couple of years?? If that is a real threat that makes it more important for the players to join now. You seem to always go down that road in almost every post. Predicting it will fold soon. If they do pull the plug watch how fast the PGA abandons their fall $$ league. That’s what they would like you to believe. If that’s the end game, they can just buy the DP Tour now. Why do LIV? To answer your question on why I keep saying it will fold soon because the business model is not sustainable.Who cares if they pull the plug in a couple of years?? The more likely event is the merge or takeover the DP Tour.
Just too many rumors and not enough facts. I personally don’t get how you can have any of the “Open” championships and exclude players.British Open ok with LIV player to tee it up in The Open. Funny some of you all thought the majors would follow the PGA Tour ban.
They said that about the Goldophin Racing 20 years ago too.If that’s the end game, they can just buy the DP Tour now. Why do LIV? To answer your question on why I keep saying it will fold soon because the business model is not sustainable.
The PGA should let qualified players who earn their Tour card play on the Tour too.Just too many rumors and not enough facts. I personally don’t get how you can have any of the “Open” championships and exclude players.
One reason why they don't care about a few billions:They are playing the long game and don't care how much money it takes.

LIV tour events AND access to the majors. That's a pretty sweet gig for players!British Open ok with LIV player to tee it up in The Open. Funny some of you all thought the majors would follow the PGA Tour ban.

The PGA had no issues banning people immediately.the big question mark is next years majors.
This years tourny’s already had their qualification requirements so would be a terrible look to change just weeks before.
the key decision will be Augusta 2023.
