Your stats add up to under 70%, of that 70% - 75% are minorities. I pulled my stats out of a story highlighting the difficulties of coaching at St. Peters.

We'll go with your numbers. 75% of St. Peter's students are minorities and RUhappy69 tells the Forum that "zero academic standards for sure based on the student body that we saw coming in and out lol". Please interpret this comment for me if I'm judging this incorrectly. What did he SEE that gave him the opinion that he presented?
Looks like a racist to me.
you assume things not in evidence.. why?

I recall a time when I was critical of Gray Nova at QB.. for years.. I was accused of being a bigot by a defender.. anti-Dominican.. I had no idea he was Dominican.. I thought he was typical North-Jersey Italian.. but that is what I am seeing in these calls of "racist" because someone says a small lowly-ranked regional college (by USNWR) is not a good school. It does not require intimate knowledge of the student body... there is a long-established general reputation.

Now that long-established reputation is one I had a chance to compare to the alums I worked with and my takes is that no matter what college you go to.. it is up to the student to choose useful classes, learn and apply that knowledge, There are genuine idiots at the Ivy league schools right now and some smart ones at Saint Peters.

But you are correct... taking a shot at St. Peters entire student body and alum base in a basketball thread speaks to *something*... jumping to racism as an explanation shows more about those making those charges than it does the poster who took that shot.

Which is why the question still stands. The OP made a determination that St Peter's had "zero academic standards" based on observation of its student body from afar. What about the look of those students gave that impression? It wasn't based on talking with them or working with them, just from visual observation. OP says it is not about race, and others are jumping to his defense, but no indication has been given as to what they physically looked like that convinced him the school has "zero academic standards".

I doubt they wore clothing with their high school GPA and SAT scores embroidered on the back.

Exactly. Nothing "wrong" with what GOR wrote other than missing the basic premise of the original post lol. The OP may have non racial reasons for his visually based conclusions but he owes us that if he doesn't want people reaching other conclusions.

I took it more of a commentary on the physical plant with the “dump” mention in the title of the original post.

You are correct sir but the left loves to label everything as racist. Racists are everywhere! lol. I can pretty much guarantee all of the race chirpers never have been there or even drove by. But whatever, I just laugh at all of the liberal hand wringing and attempts to label everything as 'Racist'.

Again, avoidance. What made the students look like the school has "zero academic standards".... we get it, you're claiming it's not race. So what was it? What about the kids coming/going screamed out to you that they were poor academically?

He's awfully adamant about what he *didn't* mean, without saying what he *did* mean. And he's getting salty about people making assumptions about something he could seemingly clear up very easily. Silence can sometimes speak volumes, though.

You really care what his intent was?

It was a bad thread. Leave it at that

They don’t want to answer that question. All they done is talk crap by talking down on people that’s not like them, whine when they get called out on their BS, get their CE brothers to defend them by bringing up irrelevant crap that has nothing to do with the ignorant statement made by the OP, bring up their Lord and Savior, Lock the Thread because they just want to talk crap, about people without repercussions: which is basically what the CE is all about.
I posted that I interacted with a couple dozen SPU grads of all races and they were all of below average intelligence. You dismissed my observation, and labeled me a Donald Trump supporter. You claimed knowledge of something you couldn’t possibly know from my post. Your compass could not possibly be more off. You are as guilty as the people you are putting down. You will not make up for your lack of self esteem by ranking people below you.

Your comments were based on close interaction. While anecdotal, they're at least grounded in something more than seeing them from across the street.

There's the "dump" portion, which is largely irrelevant to the discussion. Here's what has everyone wondering what the OP intended: "Nothing special and zero academic standards for sure based on the student body that we saw coming in and out lol." Somehow he is able to divine that SPU has zero academic standards based on some sort of visual assessment of the students he saw. And he still hasn't addressed how he came to that conclusion from merely seeing said students. And he likely won't is my guess.

True, he doesn't owe anyone anything, but then again, if he doesn't clarify his intent in his OP, then he'll have to live with people coming to their own conclusions about what he meant - and maybe he doesn't give a crap about that either, but he should, IMO. You also might want to limit any "bubble" comments to bracketology, since you have very little understanding of the real world.

In the very real professional/corporate world, making a comment like that - an assumption about the intelligence of a group based on their physical appearance - will definitely get eyebrows raised. It can easily lead to discussions with HR about "what exactly did you mean when you said...."

Which is of course because the comment is absurd on its face - based on some form of prejudice (prejudgement of a group based on their appearance), whether that prejudice is racially based or not.

Which is likely why the OP is avoiding that question - no one likes to cop to prejudices they may hold. As the saying goes, “better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to speak and remove all doubt.”

He's chosen the course of "dodge, duck, dip, dive, and dodge" - and is letting people make their own inferences about his character from the statement he made.

Since when is this message board a representation of the real world?

Can we all agree that an anonymous message board of RU fans is light years away from the professional/corporate world?

I certainly hope so.

Wow a lot of sour grapes here. So St Peter's has more tournament wins this year than RU has had in 4 decades and on 1/10th the budget. And for a school like RU that trips over it's liberal wokeness (like the hissy fits over Condoleeza Rice as graduation speaker) to make a blanket statement that St Peter's has no academic standards based on how they dress...embarrassing

Don't put words in his mouth. He hasn't given any indication of what prompted that impression - we just know it was something visual about them, likely some traits most of the students he saw had shared. He's left it up for speculation about what that those traits were.

And can we all agree that an anonymous message board of RU fans is much closer to a "bubble" than it is to the "real world"?

In the "real world" people routinely get called out for making prejudiced statements in public. The only question at this point is what specific brand of prejudice is at play, which has been met with little more than defensiveness that it might (gasp!) be about race.

If he had said that SPU was a dump because of all the MAGA people walking in & out....would you think he would not owe anyone anything or would you be on the attack against him to try and get more out of him for being biased/elitist?

Rutgers NB area has some really dumpy portions.

Said it above to not judge a book by its cover. Half the time, I wear torn/dirty jeans, concert tees of metal and punk bands, and anyone seeing me might conclude that I am a total degenerate loser, which I am!!!

True, he doesn't owe anyone anything, but then again, if he doesn't clarify his intent in his OP, then he'll have to live with people coming to their own conclusions about what he meant - and maybe he doesn't give a crap about that either, but he should, IMO. Ehh, a lot of people post things to be snarky, clever or attempting to be funny, and I would not judge anything on a message board as representative of a person. However, in the last couple of years, with the ways things have been used to cancel people for things they say online, I am more careful with what I post. But sometimes I have to clarify when I was just being sarcastic, etc.
Since when is this message board a representation of the real world?
Never.
The weirder thing is people jumping in here and saying the OP is somehow representative of what Rutgers grads/fans think of St Peters. I don't recall any posts agreeing with the OP, and a lot of them disagreeing/chastising the OP.

I think that Ru fans have generally been supportive towards the SPC community.

But who wants to read that? OP comments were edgy. Edgy is more interesting on a message board than the former and generate more discussion.

And nobody laid a glove on him.

That's pretty funny....MAGA dopes walking in & out of a university ?
What would they be doing at a university ?
