St. Peter’s is a cool story but the comments by some of our fans are really weird. They don’t have better players or even a better team. They certainly didn’t have a better regular season. And, once Halloway leaves as soon as they lose St. Peter’s will go back to being what it was. A complete afterthought. So, rather than using it to crap on RU (why our “fans” would want to do that is beyond me) just take it for what it is — a once in a lifetime run that has nothing do with RU and is no more relevant to us than the other 60 teams who aren’t playing anymore either.
These People are worried about Seton hall

St. Peter’s is A school in NJ.

Rutgers IS the school from NJ.

Good for them but like Sarah in Football (and overall) I don’t really care what they do. Really doesn’t matter. What matters is what WE do. But it’s a great story and I hope they keep winning.
Exactly. Well said.
Everybody loves to see underdogs win.
As posted elsewhere, just wish some of our "fans" would stop turning Holloway's success into a worst case scenario/we are doomed narrative for RU.

Its eye opening to see posters using St Peters run to **** on Rutgers and the Big 10

What in the actual f is this thread? How any basketball fan can't be enjoying their run is insane.

I explained why I dont. I absolutely despised SHU in the 90s. They had a spot at the big boy plate and we were relegated to obsecurity in the Atlantic 10. We were just joining the Big East at the time Halloway was playing there. Things were intense. I hated Holloway and Seton Hall. Their futures are intertwined going forward so im hardly rooting for their success

Yes he is going to coach the other major school in the state. We generally dont recruit tge same type of player but im not rooting for the success of Seton Hall

The OP could have made his point without denigrating SPU, its campus and its students. I believe the point was how can a school with only a smidgen of the resources compared the the state's flagship university, outshine RU becoming the national darling in the spotlight with a fantastic basketball team and new rock star coach in March madness? RU should have the edge in everything that matters but SPU is succeeding where RU hasn't gone in a lifetime. We pay our coach millions for mediocrity, yet he can't recruit a single sharpshooter or a lightning quick guard who can finish and dish. SPU clearly has many talented players. Were those players recruited by Pike? SPU is repping Jersey while RU is in the darkness. What team is getting national exposure? Where is the governor? Who is the better coach? I'm definitely cheering for SPU and hope they win the national title, but at the same time I'm envious and questioning what's going on at RU. There are clearly many incredible basketball players in this area. Why are so few of them playing for RU?

I would assume most in the thread feel the same way.

All true but wouldn’t trade places with them based on a great March.

When was the last time SHU got a player that RU wanted?

SHU showed interest in RHJ and Paul and both went to RU

RU isn’t competing with SHU for fans either.
Majority of the 8k at The RAC aren’t coming from Essex/Hudson counties.

The Sha fear going on is quite humorous.

Enjoy this epic run by a true NJ Cinderella.

You know that saying that Less is More or So and So has done More with Less or whatever?

St Peters has done more with absolutely NOTHING. Rowan, Montclair, Kean has more resources and more staff than St Peters. They’ll NEVER compete with the recruits or millions that Rutgers get. IDK about those who mocks the success of others, but I’m enjoying this ride since they will be Zip for them in November compared to what happened to FGCU, Loyola of Chicago, Loyola Marymount after their tournament runs.

They had more wins than us right.

Well, that's a terrible take. We'd have more wins than them if we played in the MAAC, and they'd have fewer wins than us if they played in the B1G. All schedules aren't created equal. They had 7 losses to teams ranked 233 or worse in NET, and their best win coming into the tournament was 144 Monmouth.

Amazing that we took the worst P5 team in the nation for 3 decades to 3 consecutive tournaments and all we got out of it was Cliff. Our recruiting is actually worse now than before we made our first tourney.

Another terrible take. It hasn't even been 2 weeks since we've qualified for 3 consecutive tournaments. Cliff committed before a Pikiell-led Rutgers team played in a single NCAA tournament game. This is really the first offseason where Pikiell has significant roster spots/minutes available and multiple tournament appearances in his arsenal. We'll see what he can juice out of the portal and the HS ranks.

Don’t think we’ve ever seen eye to eye but I do completely agree with you on this one.

Oh please. A little dramatic are we ? A lower seed has neve made the elite 8 before ? I seem to recall this happening quite a bit. Maybe not a #15 but low seed nonetheless.
#12 was the previous lower seed. What st peters is doing is unprecedented.

I don’t get it. I’ve been there. I did a job with my buddy when I was out of work during CoVID and it was literally right outside the campus. Nothing special and zero academic standards for sure based on the student body that we saw coming in and out lol. How the F do they recruit outside of ‘graded don’t matter.” The SEC already does that.
What a Clown! Has too be The All-Time Horrible post on this Forum. You and your buddy probably were shoveling snow off sidewalk?

How about this, you miserable bunch...just be happy for a bunch of kids on a dream ride. It will have almost no effect on your beloved Knights.

Amen!

Some people don’t get that life isn’t a zero sum game.

I picked up some tix on stubhub for the game tomorrow. It should be fun and I’m not overly invested in the outcome. Fifth row. Top of the key. Got a great price. My friend got a better price - he just has to drive!

St.Peter's has been a program I wanted to be a winner for for a long long time and thee what they're are winning this year makes me happy.
As for their HC's future employment, I don't give a rat's butt if he lands in SO after his time as a Peacock is over.
I have faith in Rutgers basketball's future and don't think if Holloway goes there it will hurt the future success Pike will lead Rutgers to.
I'll worry about Seton Hall under Sha next year, this year will root for him to continue winning.

Hell, if I have to worry about what Sha will do at Seton Hall, I might s well start worry about the type of team Willard will be making at Maryland and how it might effect Rutgers .

What does “…zero academic standards for sure based on the student body we saw coming in and out…” mean exactly?
