I don't think MadRU was doing anything but giving the answer to the question/stats.
Not referring to his answer . This is why arguments start on the board. Misinterpreting what the actual question and answer was.

Are you referring to yourself? You quoted him. Nobody starting anything unless your feathers are ruffled over a simple clarification he and I both saw. Relax.

For the sake of all. Nobody is referencing anything.

Players want to know if the coach is going to be there for 4-5 years even with new transfer portal options. At most she would be here 3 max and she’ll be 76-77 . Are we all onboard with that? The way things are looking we‘ll all be lucky if the world is still in one piece.

Am I allowed to suggest that you put this on the wrong board by mistake probably thought you were in the CVS tweet thread?

That was rediculas yesterday him throwing elbows left and right and pushing shoving all game and didn't get a single foul until late game.
So when a player backs down a defender then turns into him with a shoulder to the chest it is called an offensive foul. But when Harrar did it under the basket it was let go time and time again.

It was shocking how physical he was allowed to play without getting a single foul until late game and Cliff is sitting on the bench and playing tentatively not trying to get his 3rd early.

Once we get to the off season, we can worry about it. But Pike needs to do much better than this in the portal.

As a friend of mine used to say, size doesn't get tired. (Meaning he is still 7', 260# when the motor runs low.) That's a lot of competition for this guy, and clearly he would get 10-15 minutes for us max. We will see.

12 points 8 rebounds 5 assists in 32 minutes

But that was against A10/CAA level competition… oh wait 😉

Against Syracuse: 24 minutes, 0 points (0-2 shooting), 7 rebounds.
Against Duke: 28 minutes, 4 points (1-6 shooting), 7 rebounds, 4 assists but also 4 turnovers.
Against Rutgers: 32 minutes, 12 points (6-12 shooting), 8 rebounds, 5 assists but 7 turnovers.

I dunno man. I get that he's going to be a backup/depth guy for any high major but combine his performance against power schools and the video I've watched and I just don't see it. Lafayette's 2P% defense (rim protection) was bad and they allowed the most offensive rebounds in the conference.

Centers in the transfer portal are always sought after because there aren't as many of those as there are guards/wings/forwards. We'll see where he winds up. I got killed for questioning Ralph Agee as a high-major player last offseason too so...

Rutgers already has their backup center and a pretty good one. Can’t use the portal for a 3rd string center. Only reason they did it this year was because they didn’t know if Reiber was ready.

Funk from Bucknell looking for a home

would be the best shooter on our team soon as he enters the gym

A 33% career three point shooter against Pat League defenses? That'd be a sad state of affairs for us if that were true.

I don't know. Perhaps defense and rebounding is all we need for those 10-15 mins. Of course it would be great to get an Edy or Kofie ..but they aren't there. And if Brad is looking at him -all I need to know.

Big Body, who has good numbers, regardless of Lafayetter or not... he can pound the opposing team's Center/7ft'r ... Cliff is friggin Athletic, and needs a few more pounds, but get's beat up by guys like Kofi Cockburn. Would be great to mix it up. 3Ber will find a good spot next year, Pike will make sure of it.

So then why hasn't he played the 4 at all this year?
Well let's see
1) we didn't have anyone behind Cliff that could provide any minutes
2) some guy named Ron Harper was our 4

we have a giant gap at the 4 next year and you think the guy with the perfect skill set will be playing 10 minutes a game as a backup center?

Who cares if Reiber is the main backup to Cliff? And Harper doesn't play 40 minutes per game so why does Reiber get none of those minutes and play with Cliff? Let's use the win against Wisconsin as an example. Reiber got 7 min that game and all at the 5 backing up Cliff. Harper was out for 9 minutes that game and all those minutes were given to some combo of Hyatt, Mag, and Palmquist. Why not give Reiber any of those minutes if they think it's his best position? Stamina and foul trouble obviously wasn't the issue so what else could it be? Maybe his defensive skill set isn't what Pikiell, or pretty much every major college basketball team, looks for in a 4?

Reiber is a very sound post defender and does a great job helping on picks and shifts. He just doesn't have the strength this year to even slow down the dominant big men as we saw against Purdue and Michigan. He'll definitely look to add some good size and strength this offseason to help with that. But you get him one on one with a B1G perimeter player and they get by him every time because he's simply not a perimeter defender. That's why he's not playing the 4 at all right now and won't be the starting 4 next year.

Gettys is in Japan, and I did say that Gettys would beat out Agee for minutes. He definitely would not beat out Reiber this season.
this season after three in europe. Its right there in the link title. Move the goal posts but I still disagree. But regardless. The point was you can find a solid player in the CAA and he was loved here for his play. A player of his caliber would be a great fit with Cliff next year when Reiber moves to the four. That is all.

Dean didn't even play last year so perhaps what one does the previous year based on need and circumstances and ability doesn't necessarily copy and paste for the following season? We'll see. My bet is on him getting play at the both the 4 and 5 cause I think Hyatt gets the 4.

Reiber averaged 5.8 minutes over 13 games last year so he did get playing time. I'm not even saying he won't get minutes at the 4 I think he will get playing time with Cliff every once and a while. But he won't be the starting 4 getting 20-25 minutes covering perimeter players.

Not to go too far off track, but I believe the staff met with Harrar in the offseason as a portal transfer before he decided to stay. After watching him on the offensive glass yesterday, man, could you imagine? Don't get me wrong, still very happy with Cliff's development and our season as a whole.
Harrar was the top portal guy I Wass hoping to come to Rutgers. I love his toughness around the basket and his rebounding. If he had come to Rutgers we'd be no worse than Sweet 16 potential.

2020-21
- 13 games, 5.8 min

2021-22
- up to Covid pause: 6 games, 4.5 min
- after Covid pause: 15 games, 8.5 min

I'd think next year he'll see 15-20 min/game, part of that at backup center and part at the PF spot. Remains to be seen what we get in the portal, though - if we get a strong backup 5, I'd expect him to still get 15-20 min at the PF spot.
