when Rock and I came in on the left side there was only one guy checking and that was about 3:10.....looks like it was even worse on the other side. Making customers stand in the 20 degree cold for show. Let us end this charade that makes no difference when it comes to mitigation

I imagine the employees they pay $8 to do this decided to call in sick

we got in no problem, I would imagine for those coming after 330, this is what they saw. Now it makes sense, Im alway sitting in my seat 20 minutes before tipoff writing in the game thread that I hope it fills up and then 5 minutes into the game the place is packed albeit with throngs coming in after tip

Got stuck in that mess also. If that screening was actually accomplishing something I would just deal with it and not complain - but after reading the massive John Hopkins study it is pretty clear that those institutions who constantly preach "follow the science" selectively "ignore the science" when it does not match that organizations political alignment.

It took less than 5 mins to get in. I thought it was very well run but I guess people will complain about anything.
I am not taking any political position on a sports board but I was in line well over double that and maybe triple that. So no it’s not complaining about “anything”. If you’re going do this it has to be way better.

I think people would be better with it if it was more organized and not a giant mosh pit. That's said, it wasn't like this for the January games so not sure what changed or why.

I'm not angry, I'm just chuckling to myself... Massive Johns Hopkins study???? Science? I guess we have a very different understanding of what science is.

Did you actually read all of the details of the actual economists' study and how they chose to obtain information? Only one of the 3 economists (NOT medical or science personnel) who authored the study had anything to do with Johns Hopkins, and he had nothing to do with the renowned medical school... I'm not sure if I'd call that "massive", at least not when using that study as your ironclad evidence that institutions "ignore the science"..... The main thing that those authors concluded was that lockdowns only reduce the covid mortality rate by a small amount, and that lockdowns significantly hurt the economy, based on the small amount of studies that they chose to use for their conclusions out of over 18,000 studies that they had available to them. So I'm not sure how thorough or accurate their results were. And before Bac and his henchmen start accusing me of obtaining my words from left wing media sources again, I only looked at the actual study that was published, and then researched the authors.

And this is a story regarding the "study" from Forbes that I just found after I typed this post, for you guys who are taking the "study" as gospel and using it as "proof" that you can ignore any covid precautions. FYI, Forbes is not a left wing media outlet.

I went through the doors closet to the APC and they only had 1 guy screening for the entire line. That was the problem. And everyone was funneled together. Every other game they've at least 3 and probably more. Not sure what happened this time.

How long was the wait?
At 3:40pm it was about 10 minutes on the left side. Remember it was a packed house.

It had nothing to do with one guy checking licenses/Vax cards. He just looked quick and put you on the way. The scanners are what tends to be a hold up but the Machines are what they are.

If you are so concerned get there early. If that picture was at 4pm then lesson learned if this was the first time. I usually do arrive 45 minutes early but with masks I go as late as possible to avoid wearing a mask any longer than I have too.

I wasn't trying to defend or support all covid restrictions in my previous post Bac, and I don't want to start a debate that ends up getting another thread locked... What I was trying to do was to point out the details and facts surrounding the aforementioned "study", to show that it probably isn't the best evidence to use as proof that covid restrictions don't work.

Thanks for posting that article. This really highlights a serious issue in this country - people' willingness to believe anything they see on the internet AND how willing some are to mislead the public for their own financial gain - RUPERT MURDOCH.

there are plenty of bogus mask studies that science used the past two years, I dont know why you are so fervant to discredit this one, one can do this to the many studies out there

the majority of pandemic planning guidelines advocated against lockdowns yet we still did them..why

LOL . Hope that mob was masked.

FYI..I'm down at the beach near the NC/SC border. Been here a week. Mask use is about 5%. Just reporting.

Should edit this includes travel inland from North Myrtle Beach to just south of Wilmington NC. Supermarket and restaurants. Not just hanging at the beach house.

Covid science is obviously not absolute and is an ongoing process. I think we've discussed Dr. Makary before.. Dr. Makary is a stomach and intestinal surgeon at Johns Hopkins, with no special training in infectious disease, immunology, or epidemiology, speaking for himself and not for Johns Hopkins. He's a regular contributor to Fox News, and he was not involved in the economists' study in any way. But I'll do some research on the particular mask study that he's referring to in his tweet this time, to try to get all of the facts. (I think he also claimed that Covid would be mostly gone in the USA by April of 2021 primarily due to natural immunity, and that herd immunity in the USA had been reached in June 2021). He's not without many medical experts disagreeing with some of his opinions, although that doesn't necessarily mean that those opinions are always wrong..

Fwiw, Murphy lifted the school mask mandate as of March 7th. Not sure if and how this also applies to the state university, but hopefully its a sign of better things to come.
I have to say, it's pretty stupid that I can go to a bar or restaurant in New Brunswick unmasked with unvaxed around us , drive 10 mins. then I need to be vaxed and masked to sit next to the same people.

People love to find studies to support their opinions. You can find plenty of doctors that disagree with 95% of the medical profession. Those people are normally desperate for attention because everyone of their peers thinks they are nuts.

It wasn't the checker it was the scanners.

I walked right past the checker he never saw anything of mine. The scanners are just slow and of course you get the occasional middle aged woman who can't figure out how show her tickets holding up the line (that happened when I got to the door at least)

I arrived in line at about 3:50pm and got in right after tip, so it took about 15 minutes.

The backup in the line closest to the garage was most definitely do to only having 1 guy check peoples vax cards and id’s.

He was trying to validate 4 or so separate lines of people at once and it was a complete mess.

You could have shown him anything and gotten in.

If you’re gonna have a rule like this then do it right. At least on the weekday games they’ve had 2-3 people checking per entrance.

This was a weekend game and legit pretty much sold out and they had 1 guy. It needs to be fixed.

Not going to debate science or politics. Whether you agree or not with the vax and mask mandates at the RAC, it's absolutely ridiculous that they had only one guy checking the vax cards and IDs.

If you're gonna mandate this stuff, DO IT RIGHT.

I’m sure there were plenty of other people inside the RAC they could have pulled out to check cards.

I live over an hour away and have had no problem getting in on time when I get to the front of the RAC 10-15 minutes before the game.

They can’t have 1 person “checking” thousands of peoples cards - stop making excuses.

Yeah, that "Johns Hopkins Study" was laughable in its inaccuracies and data cherry-picking. Countries that smartly utilized NPIs (non-pharmaceutical interventions), like masking, testing/tracing/isolating and selective lockdowns, especially until their populations were mostly vaccinated have crushed COVID relative to the US and most of Europe, South America and many other countries. As per the Forbes article,

Claiming that NPIs “have had little to no public health effects” simply goes against what’s been observed and documented throughout this Covid-19 pandemic. Just look at the rather stark differences among how countries have fared during this pandemic in terms of Covid-19 cases, hospitalizations, and deaths. Countries that have followed the existing scientific evidence such as New Zealand, Taiwan, and South Korea have had much fewer deaths and hospitalizations than countries that have frequently veered away from the science such as the U.S., the U.K., and Brazil.

Specifically, countries like Japan, Australia, Norway, South Korea and many more had about 1/10th to 1/20th the per capita death rates vs. the US over the length of the pandemic and countries with the most aggressive interventions, like New Zealand, Taiwan, Hong Kong, China and others had less than 1/100th our per capita death rate. That doesn't mean there weren't economic or other impacts of some of the mitigation measures, but to argue that they were completely ineffective with regard to saving lives is ignorant.

This I can agree with 100%, although I got there around 3:30 pm and my wait in line was maybe 5 minutes and I saw much more than 1 guy checking docs.

I think this game was closer to a true sellout than the others. Also factor in people arriving at once because it was a Saturday afternoon instead of straggling in at different times from work during the week. I’d say I waited 10-15 minutes after arriving at 3:40.

Bac thinks he's "constructive" but he is really just "destructive" ---from lines, poor lighting , snow on the pathways ,poor food choices, players , coaches, ADs --you name it-- reality,I got stuck in the city and got to RAC line at 3:55 ,was at my seats before tip off, even took a pee first
