Post of the day.
Wish I had known dental school was so friggin easy.
It was Mulcahy. He ran to the same man Harper was guarding and left Jordan B wide open. I just rewatched it.It wasn't Agee. I believe it was Palmquist, but I can't be sure it was him who missed the assignments.

Seems to me, the coaches decisions were based on defense. And that is what beat Iowa.He is a total non factor and liability on offense
People are too critical of Miller. Frankly I think one of the key events that turned around our season was ridding Miller of his redshirt. At the time the team was lethargic on defense and played with little or no intensity on defense. Enter Miller and his energy was contagious.
It happened twice. The first time it was Reiber and Coach Knight screamed at him as he ran back to the frontcourt. It was Paul the second time, which of course didn't evoke the same reaction from the coaching staff. Obvious double-standard.It was Mulcahy. He ran to the same man Harper was guarding and left Jordan B wide open. I just rewatched it.
Yep. It didn’t show on a stat sheet so people won’t give any validity to that.
We can’t have our starting guys playing 36-38 minutes every game so Pikiell needs to find ways to get the bench in to minimally relieve them for a few breathers.
I know it's like a universal sports fan thing but it never ceases to amaze me how people so consistently seem to assume that some guy who never plays is somehow better than the people who are playing. The only ones who have actually seen the guy play have clearly decided he is currently worse than the people who are playing.
This. The few glimpses of Jones this season make it clear he's a bit lost on the court. Against conference opponents, he's given every indication of being a little overwhelmed by the game. Which happens with young players all the time, it's natural even.I know it's like a universal sports fan thing but it never ceases to amaze me how people so consistently seem to assume that some guy who never plays is somehow better than the people who are playing. Totally agree. He appears to have a great attitude, brings great energy, is extremely competitive-minded, and in the way he responds when coming off the court and talking with coaches, or when his older teammates talk with him, he's a very coachable kid.I like Miller… solid defender and brings energy
You're here, you tell us.So this is the thread where all the dump in pants posters go?
Agee was brought in because Pike thought Agee could score against the lineup Iowa had in. He did. We got the ball in to him right away when he entered the game.Miller needs to grow into the job. Agee—Pike protecting Reiber and Cliff. Oskar a real head scratcher.
All I know is if your dentist is named Rich / Richard / Dick and you are on this forum you need to think about making a switch
The entire defensive identity change back to Pike ball coincided with Miller burning his redshirtPeople are too critical of Miller. Agee can be useful in spurts against smaller teams. He just can't handle big true 5's in the B1GAgee was brought in because Pike thought Agee could score against the lineup Iowa had in. He did. We got the ball in to him right away when he entered the game.
Kyk actually called for Jones to play the 5 during the game thread. Wild take lolIowa’s offense showed it’s only sign of life when we were stuck playing Agee. Thankfully he hit a few baskets during that stretch so it didn’t hurt us that much. But his brief stint should put all talk of Jones playing to rest. Defense won this game and Jones wasn’t the guy you wanted to bring in to sustain the defensive effort. Neither was Agee but our other bigs had 2 fouls. Enough.
no...if Jones plays, a different silly thread would happenJones plays this thread doesn't happen.
He is not a real dentist. He uses that term because he enjoys causing us pain.Wish I had known dental school was so friggin easy.
I thought he was brought in to replace Cliff when Cliff picked up his second foul? Dean already had 2.Agee was brought in because Pike thought Agee could score against the lineup Iowa had in. He did. We got the ball in to him right away when he entered the game.
There goes my theory then. Wasn’t aware of that.I thought he was brought in to replace Cliff when Cliff picked up his second foul? Dean already had 2.
I don’t care who the talking heads blamed but we run that same defensive set often. The guys playing 3-4 trap and clog the interior. The 5 is responsible for stepping out and getting a hand up to prevent the kick out pass shot when we run that. Again - Cliff stepped out in the second half and played stellar defense more than once in the second half on similar outlet passes to Bohannon. It was Mulcahy. He ran to the same man Harper was guarding and left Jordan B wide open. I just rewatched it.
I’m almost certain. My point wasn’t to rag on the kid but to point out he wasn’t brought in for any reason over Jones other than us running out of 5s and that happens to be his position. Neither of them have been playing because Pike values defense and they both struggle with it. And no matter what anyone on here tries to say, Agee did nothing in his 2.5 minutes on the defensive end to change that view. He contributed on offense with 4 points and RHJ knocked down a 3 during that stretch so playing Agee didn’t end up hurting us, but it’s simply not true to say he played good defense during his time in the game. There goes my theory then. Wasn’t aware of that.
If almost like you refuse to watch what happened on that play. You are arguing about stuff that never happened on that specific play. There was no kick out pass. The ball stayed on the exterior and never went inside. Go back and watch the play or just drop it. You have your plays confused.I don’t care who the talking heads blamed but we run that same defensive set often.
Most dentists are very bright.Miller played 2 minutes….2 minutes!
Is this thread for real?
Some people are insufferable and love hating on these kids, it’s weird.
No one. But, this guy is saying he played horrible defense, is seeing stuff that never happened on the court and that Agee being on the court ignited an Iowa offensive run in those 2 minutes.Who said he played good defense?
There goes my theory then. Wasn’t aware of that.
There lies the problem Psal, you can't remember what actually happened.I thought he was brought in to replace Cliff when Cliff picked up his second foul? Dean already had 2.
Because the mistakes were not there.Agee hasn’t been good defensively all year. I don’t recall him making any mistakes in the 2-3 possessions he was in.
They are both poor defenders. So Oscar was brought in first, stunk, and so then in came Agee. What’s the difference man? Sheesh. They play a different position from Jones where we have less other options for subs when there’s foul trouble - but all 3 are bad at defense which is the reason they are riding the end of the bench. That was my point.Because the mistakes were not there.
When he is bad defensively it's been obvious from other games. Real obvious. There was no horrible defense in those 2 minutes.
The defense definitely fell apart when Palm's came into the game. Agree, not sure if it was Palm's who was to blame, and we should note that Palm's was the 5 at that point as both Reiber and Cliff had 2 fouls. So he might not have been familiar with the centers responsibilities. It wasn't Agee. I believe it was Palmquist, but I can't be sure it was him who missed the assignments.
