This should be an interesting debate. Because if someone knows why pike does those kind of rotations to blow our leads or to tell the other team to take the lead please let me know. (Feedback necessary)

lol idk i think richie said knight was the rotations guy, but ultimately pike makes the call. he's the coach.
Of course. So you think if Pike was doing the rotations he would keep mostly our starting 6 in? And not rotate players like oskar and Agee who aren’t quite ready for this league yet?

good question...agee tried but 2 bad fouls and he was out. second half there was no funny rotations so maybe pike just kept the short rotation

I like Brandon knight. I do. Just think Pike would be better at handling the rotations based on him knowing the team chemistry really well. Not saying knight doesn’t I just don’t see the use of pike as coach if he isn’t the one leading the coaching 😂

Well you have to play SOMEBODY off the bench. Our starters can’t all play 40 minutes.

The problem is that we have so many guys on the bench who are net negatives, but who very occasionally show some spark.

Reiber has provided decent minutes lately, but Palmquist has not. And Agee was awful in his few minutes today.

Hyatt has been solid lately, as has Miller, except today Miller had a lot of trouble keeping up with Fatts Russell, racking up 3 fouls in just 8 minutes, so Pike yanked him pretty quickly in the 2nd half.

We REALLY need Mag to get back to giving us 15 minutes of solid play off the bench. A rotation of the 5 starters, plus Hyatt, plus Miller for defense, plus Reiber backing up Cliff, plus Mag.

That should be your 9 man rotation going forward (assuming Jones is basically out of the rotation).

I really like Hyatt's game. A great transfer addition. I also like a lot of our other bench players - I think this is the deepest team RU has had in 30+ years - but Hyatt is a great 6th man.

ya and the second half was complete opposite. maddening

well basically the starters played most of the 2nd half

the issue is the combo of wholesale changes, its almost always when RU gets back into the game. I realize you want to rest the starters but the bench has proven time and time again they cannot do it.

Agee Gonzo was horrible in just a minute of play. That Jones cannot see one minute is just weird to me

When Louisville would do walkthroughs before games, Pitino would sit in the bleachers or stands where ever they were and his top assistant would lead the entire practice.

I sit directly behind the bench when I go, Pike might confer with Brandon on occasion, but Pike makes all the calls and directly tells the subs going in himself

Pike is in full charge of who enters or comes out of the game….that’s a fact Ohio.
Not what Richie said. Not saying you’re wrong but saying it’s contrary to what I’d consider a very good source

I agree…But I watch Pike tap guys and tell guys to go in all the time, from about 3 feet away

We were in massive foul trouble and the starters can’t play all game. There’s your answer for rotating in bench players. Someone has to be the backup to Cliff

I’ve never seen any fan be happy with any coach’s sub patterns. The fact of the matter is the starters need to rest. The rotations are fine
There are some definite issues. Oskar shouldn’t be coming off the bench and definitely shouldn’t be on the floor with mostly other bench players, for example.

Keep the game close and save guys’ fouls in the first half, then kick it into high gear for the win in the second.

Agee “not quite ready yet”? He is a 5th year senior. There is no yet“ for him. His minutes need to continue to go to Reiber, who has 3 more years to play!

ya that's what I meant, I clarified my statement when I said Pike makes the call he's the coach in a post right after. Brandon obviously doesn't make the subs. sorry for bad post on my part

I think Oskar and Gonzalez need to be out of rotation.

I can see spots in the game where you may have only three starters on the floor but you’ve got to keep a really close eye n that.

Hyatt, Mag, Miller, and (gulp) Reiner have earned rotation rights.

I can’t figure what’s up w Jaden. I don’t think the “he’s only a freshman” argument holds water. If you think he’s got what it takes, how can he not get five mins per game. Apparently a red shirt is out the window, yes?
