One loss but the other games were all horrible as well. He talks about earning minutes but rewards horrible play by McConnell with extended minutes. We have looked horrible all year. Keep saying it’s just one loss, that’s laughable
Probably should be fired tomorrow. Maybe we can get back Jordan, Hill, Waters, Bannon, Rice or Littlepage. Good lord

Meh. We won the last two by double digits. They were uninspired but not putrid performances.

Look, I don’t think this team is very good. I don’t think we’re going to make the tournament. But it’s way too early to write us off, no one is going to care come selection time what the score was at halftime in the Rutgers vs NJIT game, and calling a coach who took us from basically being Merrimack and NJIT instead of complaining about not beating them by enough to having two tournament quality teams in a row an embarrassment is insane.

I’m glad we lost because we deserved to lose. Pike is a total hypocrite too about “earning minutes”. The coaching was putrid
I’m never glad when we lose. As for this being on Pike, it was 80% on him, 20% on the seniors for their lazy passing resulting in turnovers, and lack of rebounding and boxing out.

it might end up only a Q2 loss if we are lucky but its still a bad loss on the resume

the OP is entirely correct
You can't possibly agree with all of that, especially the first sentence about being glad we lost, can you? I agree Pike didn't coach well tonight (Caleb with way too many minutes and not sitting Cliff for a few after his 3rd foul), but c'mon, he had 2 NCAA teams in a row after 30 years of nada. I think he should get just a little slack, even if we take a step back this year, which it looks like we will.

And how much further will they step back next season with no Geo and RHJ? Add in the terrible recruiting and running no offense year after year.

Pike has hit his plateau at Rutgers unless he wants to evolve as a coach.

Very poor recruiting. A lot of reaches out there. Reiber, Palmquist. Backup center is a stiff.
Freshman guard hasn’t played one minute. Seton Hall has passed us already
Why does SHU consistently outrecruit us even when we're better? I truly do not get it. No offense to them but it's a commuter school with poor academics and an ugly campus. Smh

No offense taken. We have a better coach and we play in a conference that has basketball as it's most important sport. Almost forgot, the Big East has won more NCAA Basketball Championships in the last 10 years than the Big Ten has won in the past 40 years.

The OP is entirely correct. You people critical of him are confusing it with a personal attack.. its not. But there's little arguing that Rutgers bball future - both immediate and the next few years - look bleak. And Pikes lack of recruiting, constant head scratching hyperbole and inability to attract/retain top talent via the portal is highly worrisome. If you don't think so, you have extremely low expectations and standards for Rutgers. Stop living in the 90s.

Exactly. McConnell was 0-6 with ZERO rebounds last night yet played pretty much the whole second half except for the last few minutes. Hyatt played 3 more minutes and had 8 rebounds and 9 points. Jones while struggling on d needs reps to fix it. McConnell is who he is; I’m not saying bury him but make him earn his way back
