This is the best move for RU and Young....Oregon, Texas, Moscow Russia.....all the same to me....Jacob spent 3 years at RU and we have guards incoming that need to be developed for the next stage of winning. Would not trade Year 6 in college of Jacob Young for Year 1 for Jaden Jones or Jalen Miller, under any circumstances......the "best player stuff" rings hollow......didn't we hear that 2 years ago with Eugene departing and how "it was a slap in the face"......LMAO
Getting the right players who want to be here is always a good thing. Jacob Young was a hired gun.....he did his job, squeezed enough athletic ability out of an undisciplined player.
There's a reason why he has such a limited marketplace despite the "best-player nonsense ".....no one wants to take on the headache or does so with buyer-beware, written in bold bright colors on the box, before Amazon drops Jacob off at your practice facility.
You can't write the RU rebuild without including all of the variables that helped lift it from last place to NCAA participants without Jacob Young and his contributions.....but I can pretty much say that about all of the players who helped with the rebuild.
It's now a new age or phase of RU basketball and similar to Montez Mathis, you thank them for their efforts and hard work and move onto the next phase and next contributors.....I don't want Jacob Young back on the RU roster and I hope he kills it at Oregon and does his best.
I will say this, without too much research online or reading other message boards.....if you can't play or empty the teamwork tank for Shaka Smart and now Steve Pikiell, 2 of the nicest guys and good Head Coaches in all of College Basketball, what exactly is Jacob Young searching for.....??
Sometimes (Almost all the time) the answer lies in the mirror of the player himself.....Jacob Young at 24 won't quite understand that, Jacob Young at 44 or 54, when his kids are balling, will have to teach them.....is this all about me and shot attempts, commanding the ball, or is there a bigger goal out there, about the team concepts???
Dana Altman and Jacob Young will be interesting to watch happen. If he wants a shot a minute at Oregon, that's an offense you might get it in. Oregon won't win too many NCAA games with that formula, maybe Altman has other guards who shoot just as much as the next one, as soon as they get their hands on it.
