Thanks
You play exactly like you practice, if practice is run properly, demanding and with pace.I don’t know why he is ice cold but I think if we got him the ball moving toward the basket he be back to doing well.
This group of starters gets no dribble penetration so the defense is never out of position. Couple that with our “offense” only being mostly on ball screens he never has the chance to do that.
Blind driving to the hoop against good teams....no goodHe fell in love with the 3 pointer based on his early season success
Get back to basics and drive to the hoop and settle for the 10 foot shot. Master the 2 pointers before settling for 3s once again.
They might make the 3 pointers in practice.I keep hearing during the radio broad cast how well the players are shooting 3 pointers prior to the game and during shoot arounds earlier in the day.You play exactly like you practice, if practice is run properly, demanding and with pace.
If Pike is happy with open look 3s playing against his scout team that answers your question
When a player is struggling, you run some sets for him to possibly get a layup or a foul. We used to run an alley-opp for him. So much of this game is mental. As quick bucket or two and often you will have a different player and shots will start falling.
slow and out of shape
before the game they showed Ron shooting an arrow after hitting a 3 the first Maryland game and his body then vs now is noticably different

Yes, but we are <50% on layups. (Ugh)When a player is struggling, you run some sets for him to possibly get a layup or a foul. We used to run an alley-opp for him. So much of this game is mental. As quick bucket or two and often you will have a different player and shots will start falling.

Maybe he is still nursing a bad ankle and doesn’t practice full court as much or hard as much because of it . That’s my only guess how you can get out of shape during the year and lose all your explosivenessHow can you get out of shape training and playing during the season? That's gotta be freaking hard to do. Does he have a medical issue. Is he depressed? Absolutely looks like he has no confidence.
Yeh he is definitely not playing at that speed, explosiveness and energy now. Makes me wonder if the ankle is worse than reported perhaps not fully healed and is limiting his practice and conditioning.
Absolutely they're pressing. But what's concerning is why is the ENTIRE team pressing?I think it’s a mental thing now. I think the team is pressing.
Been saying for weeks Harper is somehow out of condition. We all can see by his movements he is no where near what he was back in December to mid January. If he is still injured it could explain a great deal of WTF . The mental side dealing with injury could take a toll. I still think Baker has slowed as well. And I believe the Twitter backlash has caused a lot of his up and down play. How can you get out of shape training and playing during the season? That's gotta be freaking hard to do. Does he have a medical issue. Is he depressed? Absolutely looks like he has no confidence.
This can not be said enough. The solution is run the offense.Blind driving to the hoop against good teams....no good
Gotta run an offense
If he’s been playing even with a minor injury then he’s not going all out in practice. He’s getting treatments and he’s doing whatever he can to be on the floor. Easy to gain weight and get out of shape in that scenario. Not sure why this is a discussion anyway. To me the biggest issue is we don’t have a true 4 or even a guy to spot him at the 4.He’s playing the 4 which means he’s not as much of a mismatch down low but he can be driving the ball and taking 3’s. If he was playing the 3 spot like last year then he’s a big mismatch down low.slow and out of shape

Yes, completely different player.Completely different player now. Where's the confidence, the swag? Where's the ball fakes, drives, strong finishes at the basket? I agree he looks like he's in better shape in this video. He's moving quicker instead of moping around the court.
