If he’s been playing even with a minor injury then he’s not going all out in practice. He’s getting treatments and he’s doing whatever he can to be on the floor. Easy to gain weight and get out of shape in that scenario. Not sure why this is a discussion anyway. To me the biggest issue is we don’t have a true 4 or even a guy to spot him at the 4.He’s playing the 4 which means he’s not as much of a mismatch down low but he can be driving the ball and taking 3’s. If he was playing the 3 spot like last year then he’s a big mismatch down low.
Because he's a guy who was putting up big numbers and now 13- 14 is his big game.

He fell in love with the 3 pointer based on his early season success

Get back to basics and drive to the hoop and settle for the 10 foot shot. Master the 2 pointers before settling for 3s once again.
Last game not the Maryland game he hit 2 long 2 pointers literally not even a foot in front of the three point line and then he moves back 1 foot and all of a sudden he can't make a basket its al psychological and I just wonder if he talks to his father about it!!

I think it’s mental and maturity. He had success and teams focused on him his production dropped off which is understandable but the shooting is a mental issue. He’s hitting he’s free throws so I suspect the threes are just a confidence thing. Time to be a man Ron!!

It is nice to get analysis from someone who is actually a successful coach.

He is not out of shape. That is just his body type.

His confidence has gone south, and his coach keeps pointing out that he is taking the criticism personally (He needs to put down his phone).

HIs problems are mental. I am surprised his old man cannot cannot help him with that.

Doesn’t physique mostly reflect conditioning and endurance? “It’s just his body type” and not an indicator of conditioning doesn’t make sense to me

I have noticed he seems to have the opportunity to get closer to the line in obvious catching positions but when off ball he seems content to take longer shots but I don’t think that’s the biggest reason just an anecdotal observation
I agree.. early season when he was hot.. it really seemed like he made a huge improvement in catcing teh ball with his feet already in posiitin to catch and shoot... no thought process... I think the whole eam is thinking too much on FTs and 3ptrs. Show confidence and have fun agian.. and get your feet in position to shoot before you catch the ball.

He carry’s too much weight . If Ron is 235-240 ( I think his BMI is much greater) Ron Harper needs to knock off 15 lbs. Our dietician needs to check in on RHJ. 6’4“ maybe 6’5” is a stretch. Looks and is playing like a kid with a conditioning problem.

not everyone looks the same while being in the same relative condition.. he's a basketball player that plays 30+ minutes a game. Myles Johnson looks more "fit" but shows obvious tireness after about 4-5 minutes... granted.. he's banging more... imho.. it really is just RHJ body type that you have an issue with.

I don’t ‘have an issue with it’. His conditioning, and everyone’s conditioning, is not my business or my concern. But i disagree that ‘it’s just his body type’ is unrelated to conditioning.

Of course it does.

He just needs to have a good game. Somehow his weight problems (or any of his other problems) will go away once that happens.
